1. Safety information
Intended use also

The shelf construction or
table construction can be damaged if it tips over
or is unstable!
Risk of severe injuries!

Do not use improperly as a support.

Do not climb on the construction.

Do not stand on the construction.

Do not climb on or sit on the shelves.

Do not exceed the maximum shelf limit.
Injury and damage due to falling objects!

Do not keep objects that are too heavy on the shelves or fasten them on the
frame construction. Pay attention to the maximum load capacity per shelf.

Only put objects on the intended placement surfaces.

Mount accessories properly as described in the assembly directions.

Risk of material damage!

Comply with the assembly directions.

Pay attention to the maximum load capacity.

Take the cleaning and care instructions into account.
For safety reasons, counterweights are also installed in the Base Plate in some
configurations.

Lift out the lowest shelf and possibly also the counterweights, to access the inside.
3. Intended use
Flex Active Frames are designed exclusively as furniture for commercial use (e.g. offices) and for use in
publically accessible interior spaces (e.g. cultural and educational facilities). Any other use, or use beyond
the specified intended use is considered improper use. Improper use of the product may result in dangers to
life and limb, as well as material damage. For this reason, improper use is prohibited. In the event of
improper use, Steelcase assumes no liability for any damage that may occur and does not guarantee that
the components will function properly.
Possible improper use includes:
Placement surface for objects with a total weight greater than the permissible load capacity per shelf
(see
2. Technical data )
Use as a climbing or mounting aid
Use as a seating possibility
Outdoor use
Use in wet rooms
4. Product description
Flex Active Frames are highly flexible and multifunctional solutions that provide space, storage space for
teams and individuals, which support dynamic collaboration and can be equipped to meet individual needs.
Flex Active Frames are available in these three variants:

5. Use
The Flex Active Frames may only be used in a technically faultless condition and in compliance with the
Quick Reference Guide.
Before using the Flex Active Frames, ensure the following:
The product has been assembled in accordance with the accompanying assembly directions.
Flex Active Frames accessories can be placed on the shelves or frame units.

If the purchased configuration is changed on its own authority, the following counterweight rules must be
applied to the individual units:

7. Transport and assembly
Check the delivery contents:
After unpacking, check the Flex Active Frames units immediately for damage sustained during transport
and for completeness; inform the manufacturer of any damage as soon as possible.
Assembling Flex Active Frames:
Please follow the provided assembly directions for assembly of the shelves or bridges.
Assembly of the
Frame Active Frames always starts with a Base Unit followed by Extension Units.
The accessories are mounted in this sequence:
1. Coat Rod, 2. Fixed Board, 3. Infill Panel and Center Panel, 4. Flap Door, 5. Mobile
Board Clips and
Cable Clips, 6. Bookend and ToolBox
The mounting and removal of the Flex Active Frames accessories are described in the assembly

8. Maintenance and disposal

Cleaning and care:
At regular intervals clean dust and grime off of the surfaces with a damp cloth or mild cleaning agent.
Clean grime off of fabric surfaces (e.g. for the Pinboard) with a suitable cleaning brush.
Disposal:
Dismantling should be carried out by skilled and qualified personnel only. If you want to dismantle and
dispose of the Flex Active Frames permanently, proceed as follows:
Dismantle the Flex Active Frames units.
Separate the resulting parts into: reusable components and the material groups to be disposed of
(wood, metal, plastic, electrical parts, etc.).

separate instructions for dismantling / recycling.
9. Service and contact details
Delivery, installation and instruction
The manufacturer or the retailer usually delivers, assembles and sets up the Flex Active Frames. The
users are instructed by the manufacturer or the retailer with regard to operation.
