1 About this product
1 About this product
The Flex Active Frames from Steelcase is subject to
continuous quality control during manufacture and dis-
tribution. This ensures fault-free functionality.
Steelcase applies a quality management system that meets
the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001.
Flex Active Frames is GS-qualified.
1.1 Intended use
Flex Active Frames are designed exclusively as furniture for
commercial use (e.g. offices) and for use in publically
accessible interior spaces (e.g. cultural and educational
facilities). Any other use, or use beyond the specified intended
use is considered to be improper.
Intended use also includes following all instructions
in the Quick Reference Guide.
1.1.1 Foreseeable misuse
Improper use of the product can result in dangers to life and
limb as well as property damage. For this reason, improper use
is prohibited. In the event of improper use, Steelcase assumes
no liability for any damage that could occur and does not
guarantee that the components will function properly.
Possible improper use includes:
■Use as a climbing aid.
■Use as permanent placement surface for objects with
a total weight greater than the permissible load
capacity per shelf (see Technical data on page6).

Flex Active Frames are highly flexible and multifunctional
solutions that provide space, storage space for teams and
individuals, which support dynamic collaboration and can be
equipped to meet individual needs.

3 Transport and assembly
3.1 Checking the delivery contents
After unpacking, check the product immediately for damage
sustained during transport and for completeness; inform the
manufacturer of any damage as soon as possible.
3.2 Assembly
Please follow the provided assembly directions for assembly of
the shelves or bridges Flex Active Frames.
Steelcase recommends having the authorised dealer
or an assembly company assemble the desk.
Assembly of the Frame Active Frames always starts with a
Base Unit followed by Extension Units.
The accessories are mounted in this sequence:
1. Coat Rod, 2. Fixed Board, 3. Infill Panel and Center Panel, 4.
Flap Door, 5. Media Tower - Components, 6. Board Clips and
Cable Clips, 7. Bookend and ToolBox
Attaching accessories
Please follow the provided assembly directions for attaching
accessories. The assembly directions are also available online
at:

3 Transport and assembly
Mounting the monitor
Please refer to the manufacturer's assembly
directions to mount the monitor to the supplied
monitor mount.
The monitor must not exceed 65'' / 165 cm in size, and it
should not weigh more than 30 kg.

4.1 Safety instructions
The Units of the Flex Active Frames may only be used and
operated in a technically faultless condition and in compliance
with the Quick Reference Guide.
Before using the Flex Active Frames, ensure that:
■The product has been assembled in accordance with
the accompanying assembly directions.
Flex Active Frames accessories can be placed on the
shelves or frame units.
DANGER
The shelf structure or bridge structure can
be damaged if it tips over or is unstable!
Risk of severe injuries!
}Do not use improperly as a means of support.
}Do not climb onto the structure.
}Do not stand on the structure.
}Do not lean against the structure.
}Do not climb onto or sit on the shelves.
}Do not exceed the standard maximum limit.
}To move the structure, follow the relevant assembly
and disassembly directions.

DANGER
Danger due to voltage!
Failure to comply can cause serious injury and death!
}Do not earth electrical equipment at the Flex Active
Frames frame!
}Attach or detach connectors only in a de-energised
state.
}Rectify defects such as loose connections or
damaged cables immediately.
WARNING
Injury and damage due to falling objects!
}Do not keep objects that are too heavy on the shelves
or fasten them on the frame structure. Pay attention
to the maximum load capacity per shelf.
}Only put objects on the designated placement sur-
faces.
}Mount accessories properly as described in the
assembly directions.
WARNING
Cables lying around cause tripping hazards!
}Keep passages clear of cables.
}Route the cables so that they do not pose a risk of
tripping.

Risk of injury due to monitors come crashing
down!
}Do not stay under the monitor.
}Check the monitor for secure attachment before use.
}Install the monitor mount in accordance with the
assembly directions.
PLEASE NOTE
Risk of material damage!
}Follow the assembly instructions.
}Pay attention to the maximum load capacity.
}Take the cleaning and care instructions into account.
For safety reasons, counterweights are to be installed
in the Base Plate in some configurations.
4.2 Operation
4.2.1 Rules for use of counterweights
If the purchased configuration is arbitrarily changed, the
following rules for use of the counterweights for the single
units must be applied:
