Base Frame Extension Assembly for
Cabinets (11”D)
1. Remove packaged aluminum trim and set aside. Trim will
be assembled later.
2. Place the Extension Frame and Link on a clean surface
adjacent to the mating Base Frame.
3. Two legs will be transferred from the mating Base
Frame to the Extension Frame. Remove attachment bolt
from top of legs.
4. Insert two (2) legs into clevis brackets at the corners of
the 55” wide side of the Extension Frame. NOTE: The square
notch in the clevis brackets will determine the orientation of
the legs (refer to illustration).
5. Install clevis attachment bolts from step 3 and tighten
securely with 1/4” hex wrench (”Allen Key”). For best results,
bolts should be tightened to 180 in/lbs. or 15 ft/lbs.
6. Install Link by aligning holes at the corners of the Base
and Extension Frames and installing four (4) clevis link
pins. Note: link pins do not require cotter pins.

Building construction varies greatly. The
Building’s Engineer of Record is responsible
for the design of building walls which the
Regard product attaches to and must
verify the adequancy of the mounting
solutions, even if provided by Steelcase.
The building owner or designated agent is
responsible for verifying that the
installation is in compliance with all local
codes and regulations.

Using the link as a template, mark the locations of the slots on the wall to intersect with as many studs as
possible (with a minumum of two studs).
When mounting between studs, drywall must be at least 5/8” thick and attached securely tothe studs with
screws. “Toggler” brand type BA 3/16-24 (or equivalent) hollow wall fasteners with #10-24 UNC pan head
machine screws should be used per manufacturer’s recommendations. These fasteners are not provided.
If the distance between any stud and the end hole location exceeds 10”, then an additional attachment in
between is required.
NOTICE: Mounting hardware is to be specified/verified by the Engineer of Record or approved by AHJ.
The following hardware is NOT supplied with the product, but is commonly used for attachment to stud and
wallboard construction.

Base Frame Wall Assembly
1. Remove the packaged aluminum trim and set aside.
2. Place the frame and link on a clean surface
adjacent to the wall.
3. Remove leg attachment bolt from top of legs.
4. Insert 2 legs into clevis brackets at the corners of
the 55” wide side of the frame. NOTE: The square
notch in the clevis brackets will determine the
orientation of the legs (refer to illustration).
5. Install leg attachment bolts from step 3 and tighten
securely with 1/4” hex wrench (”Allen Key”). For best
results, bolts should be tightened to 180 in/lbs. or 15
ft/lbs.
6. Place assembled frame in desired location on wall
and level in both directions. Mark the wall with a pencil
where the link makes contact.

7. Remove both pins from the link to separate it from
the frame.
8. Hold link against marked wall and fasten it to the
wall using one of the methods listed on “Wall Mounting
Requirements” on Page 4.
9. Reinstall clevis link pins to connect link to frame.
Note: link pins do not require cotter pins.
10. Adjust glides to level base assembly.
11. Proceed to cabinet assembly and trim assembly
pages.

Desk Cabinet Assembly
1. Place unit on a clean surface with front facing
down.
2. Remove both shipping brackets from the bottom
of the cabinet.
3. (Requires two people) Align and place unit on
top of Base Frame.
4. From under the Base Frame, install clamp
brackets with fasteners, making sure each
bracket is fully engaged with the frame and
tighten securely. For best results, fasteners
should be tightened to 180 in/lbs. or 15 ft/lbs.
5. Install worksurface by inserting three tabs
into corresponding slots in the front of the back
panel of the cabinet (5a). To secure worksurface
from behind the cabinet, install all wedge blocks
into the slots from the bottom, gently tapping them
up until tight (5b). Lock all wedges in place with
#10 wood screws (5c).
6. If a task light is to be installed in the cabinet,
refer to page 9 before advancing to allow ease of
access to power cords. Install back panel (if
applicable) by inserting top brackets into slots
in the cabinet top panel, then pushing bottom
into place. Secure with 1/4-20 screws
through clearance holes in the base.

7. Display Shelf Option: Insert two (2) flanged screws per shelf into
pre-drilled holes in back panel. Hook display shelves over rear
flanged screws and snap side flanges over pre-installed spring
buttons.
8. Task Light Option: Refer to Assembly Directions included with the
task light. Route power cord through hole in back panel provided.
Note: If finished back panel is already installed, remove it before this
step to allow ease of access to power cords.

Media Cabinet Assembly
1. Place unit on a clean surface with front facing up.
2. Remove both shipping brackets from the bottom of the
cabinet.
3. (Requires two people) Align and place unit on top of
Base Frame.
4. From under the base frame, install the clamp brackets
with fasteners, making sure each bracket is fully engaged
with the frame and tighten securely. For best results,
fasteners should be tightened to 180 in/lbs. or 15 ft/lbs.
5. Secure monitor mounting bracket (small or large) to the
back panel with four (4) fasteners provided (holes are
pre-drilled).
6. A 1-7/8” dia. hole must be drilled for monitor
power cord routing. A cord drop grommet is
supplied to insert into this hole.
7. Install back panel (if applicable) by
inserting top brackets into slots in the cabinet
top panel, then pushing bottom into place.
Secure with 1/4-20 screws through
clearance holes in the base.
