Normal operation
As a result of its level of utilisation, the temper-
ature of the exhaust gas produced by the truck
is high enough that the soot particles filtered out
of the exhaust gas are burned during operation.
The driver must not interfere with this process.
NOTE
When the truck reaches a certain level of uti-
lisation, the system also requests that parked
regeneration be performed at lengthier intervals.
Low-load operation/EXH.GAS
PURIFIER display message
The truck is not in use long enough to achieve a
high exhaust gas temperature. The soot particles
that are filtered out of the exhaust gas cannot
be completely burned off during operation and
collect in the diesel particle filter. The message
EXH.GAS PURIFIER appears on the display,
prompting the driver to perform parked regen-
eration. From the point at which the message
EXH.GAS PURIFIER first appears, the truck
can be used without restriction for a further half
an hour (or thereabouts). The message then
appears again at regular intervals. If the level of
soot accumulation on the particle filter surpasses
a critical threshold, a mandatory message re-
questing parked regeneration be performed is
issued. The speed of the truck is reduced to 2
km/h. For details of how to carry out parked re-
generation, see the next chapter.
NOTE
Once the message
EXH.GAS PURIFIER
appears, parked regeneration can be carried
out at any time. To perform parked regeneration,
proceed as described in the following chapter.
Performing the parked regenera-
tion
CAUTION
During the parked regeneration process, very hot
combustion gases escape from the exhaust pipe.
Do not carry out parked regeneration in areas contai-
ning hazardous materials or highly flammable materi-
als, or in a hall. In addition, the following instructions
must be observed exactly.

Performing the parked regeneration
NOTE
Performing a parked regeneration takes appro-
ximately 30 minutes. During this time, the truck
cannot be used.

parked regeneration.
– Apply the parking brake. The parked regener-
ation cannot be carried out if the parking brake

OK(1) button. The message START IC
ENGINE appears on the display. To interrupt
the parked regeneration process, press the
ESC button.
– Start the engine. To do this, turn the key switch

The parked regeneration process is started.
EXH. GAS PURIFIER PLEASE WAIT appears
on the display. The status bar (4) below the
message indicates the regeneration progress.
The parking brake must not be released at this
point, as this would abort the parked regeneration
process.
NOTE
During parked regeneration, the engine speed
fluctuates and the power of the radiator fan is
reduced. The drive unit and the hydraulic control
unit are switched off and do not respond when the
corresponding operating devices are actuated.

The parked regeneration process is complete if
the status bar disappears and REGENERATION
COMPLETED appears on the display. The truck
is ready for operation again.
CAUTION
Risk of damage to components! If parked regeneration
is not performed when required, the particle filter may
become damaged.
A full parked regeneration must be performed in order
to completely empty the particle filter.
