Charging batteries forthefirst time

Introduction

IMPORTANT:Sincecordless phonesoperate on electricity,you aresuggested to have
atleastone phone inyourhomethatisnotcordless,incase ofpoweroutage.
ImportantInstallation Guidelines
Avoidsourcesofnoise and heat,such asmotors,fluorescentlighting,microwave ovens,
heating appliancesand directsunlight.
Avoid areasofexcessive dust,moisture and lowtemperature.
Avoid othercordless telephonesorpersonalcomputers.
Neverinstall telephone wiring duringalightning storm.
Neverinstall telephone jacks inwetlocationsunless the jack is specificallydesigned for
wetlocations.
Nevertouch non-insulated telephone wiresorterminals,unless the telephone line has
been disconnected atthe networkinterface.
Usecaution when installing ormodifying telephone lines.
Telephonebase and chargerinstallation
1.Plug the smallerend ofthe poweradapterintothe powerjack atthe bottomofthe
telephone base.
2.Plug one end ofthe telephone line intothe jack atthe bottomofthe telephone base.
3.Plug the otherend ofthe telephone line intoatelephone wall jack.
4.Plug the largerend ofthe poweradapterinto an electricaloutletnot
controlled byawall switch.Ifyou haveDSL high speed Internetservice,aDSLfilteris
required (notincluded).ContactyourDSLservice providerformoreinformation about
DSLfilter.
CAUTION:Use onlythe poweradaptorthatcamewiththisunit.(Telephone
base:TENPAO-S003IV0600050 orESL-IA5060G(6Vdc/500mA),charger:
TENPAO-S003IV0600015 orESL-IA1560G(6Vdc/150mA).Using otherpoweradapters

Telephonejack requirements
To usethisphone,you need a RJ11Ctype modulartelephone jack,whichmightlooklike
the one pictured here,installed inyourhome.Ifyou do nothaveamodularjack,call your
localphone companytofind outhowto have one installed.

1.Use onlythe poweradapterthatcamewiththisunit.Using otherpoweradaptersmay
damage the unit.

Batteryinstallation
Foroptimumbatteryperformance,charge the batteryfor16 hoursbeforefirstuse.
1.Makesurethe battery compartmentcoverisnotattached withthe handset.
2.Insertthe AAA rechargeable batteriesinthe battery compartment,matching the +/-
polaritymarkings.
3.Align the coveragainstthe battery compartmentand slide itupwardsuntil itclicks into
place.
4.Charge the handsetbyplacing itinthe telephone base orcharger.The lighton the
handsetison when charging.

asnormal.
GlobalDND
When globalDND isactivated,all systemhandsetsand the telephone basewill be silent
when thereisan incoming call.Press the DND button on the telephone basetoturnthis
feature on oroff.
HandsetDND
You can programindividualhandsettosilence during predetermined timeframes.This
setting isindependentto each handsetand only silencesthe ringerofthe handset

Speakerphone
Anytime duringacall,press $toswitch between speakerphone and normalhandset
use.When the speakerphone isactive,the handsetscreen showsF.
NOTE:Using the speakerphone will drainthe batteryfasterthan the normalhandset
use.
Volume control
You can adjustthe volume ofthe handsetorspeakerphone anytime duringacall.
Onthe handset,press +toincrease or-to decreasethe volume.
NOTE:Onlythe listening volumecan be adjusted.
Make a call using theredialmemory
The lastten telephone numberspreviouslydialed arestored inthe redial list(up to 24
digitseach).

service provider.Thisfeature allows you toreceivecallswhileyou are alreadytalking on
the phone.You will hearacall waiting alerttone when thereisasecond incoming call.If
you subscribe to bothcallerIDand call waiting withcallerIDservices,the second caller’s
information isdisplayed afteryou hearthe call waiting alerttone.
1.Press flashto answerthe second incoming call.
2.Press flashtoswitch between calls.
Voice mail service
The Bicon flasheson the screen when you havereceived a newvoicemail message
fromyourservice provider.
IMPORTANT:Voicemail serviceisdifferentfromthe answering system.In orderto use
the voicemail service,you mustsubscribe toitfromyourtelephone service provider.
Using multiplehandsets
The systemallowsamaximumoftwo handsetsto haveaconversation with an outside
call atatime.Ifa handsetisalreadyonacall and you wouldliketojointhe call,press
&on anotherhandset.
The call will notbe terminated until all handsetshang up.
Handsetpage
You can locateamisplaced handsetbypaging it.
1.Press $on the telephone base.All registered handsetsbeep forone minute.
2.Press $on the telephone base orpress &on anyhandsettostop paging.

Intercom(only applicableformodelswithmultiplehandsets)
The systemallowsan intercomcall between two handsetsregistered tothe same
telephone base.
Toinitiateanintercomcall:
1.Press (.
Ifyourtelephone systemhasonlytwo handsetsregistered,the intercomcall will be
automaticallydirected tothe othersystemhandset.
Ifyourtelephone systemhasmorethan two handsetsregistered,enterthe handset
numberyou wanttocall byusing the dialpad 1-5.
2.Press $to answerthe intercomcall on the otherhandset.
3.To end the intercomcall,press &.
NOTES:
1)The intercomcall can be canceled beforeitisanswered bypressing &or(on
the originating handset.
2)Ifthe handsetbeing called doesnotanswerwithin one minute,the paging will be
canceled.
To answeranincoming call during intercom
You will hearan alerttone when you receiveanincoming call during intercom.
Press $to answerthe incoming call and end the intercom.
Press (to answerthe incoming call and putthe intercomon hold.Press and hold
(toswitch between intercomand the incoming call.
Press and hold(toconferencewith boththe incoming call and the intercom.
To initiate anintercomduring a call
You can intercomwith anothersystemhandsetduringacall,orinvite anothersystem
handsettojoin.
1.Press (duringacall.
Ifyourtelephone systemhasonlytwo handsetsregistered,the intercomcall will be
automaticallydirected tothe othersystemhandset.
Ifyourtelephone systemhasmorethan two handsetsregistered,you will need to enter
the handsetnumberyou wanttointercomto byusing the dialpad 1-5.The call isplaced
on holdwhilethe intercomisestablished withthe otherhandset.
2.Press $to answerthe intercomon the otherhandset.
NOTE:The intercomcall can be canceled beforeitisanswered bypressing del/inton
the originating handset.
3.You can choosefromone ofthe following optionsforthisintercomcall.
Press and hold(toconnectboth handsetstothe call.
Press (on the originating handsetto alternate between the intercomand the call.
Press &on eitherhandsettoterminatethe intercomon thathandset.The call will
continue on the otherhandset.
Pushtotalk(PTT) (only applicableformodelswithmultiplehandsets)
You can directlybroadcastmessagestothe speakerphone ofanyregistered handsetin
the system.Ifyourtelephone systemhasmorethan two handsets:
1.Press +/-toselectthe handsetyou wantto broadcastthe message to,or
selectALL HANDSETto broadcastto all handsetsand then press %.
2.PRESS AND HOLD[PTT]TOTALKshowson the screen when the connection is set
between the initiating handsetand the destination handset.
3.Press and holdthe ?button on eitherhandsettostartthe broadcast.
NOTE:Connection setbetween handsetslastsfor30 minutesafteritisestablished,or
30 minutesafterthe lastbroadcast.You will need to performthe above operation againif
you wanttoinitiateaPTT to anothersystemhandsetorafterthe 30-minutetime out.

recentcalls.Each entryholdsup to 20 digitsforthe telephone numberand 14 characters
forthe name.

been received.Toscroll through the callerIDrecords:

Troubleshooting guide
Ifyourtelephone systemisnotoperating properly,firsttrythisgeneralresetprocedures:
1.Unplug all poweradaptersfromthe poweroutlets.
2.Disconnectthe telephone line cordfromthe base ormodularjack.
3.Removethe battery compartmentcoversand unplug all handsetbatterypacks.
4.Afterafewminutes,re-install all handsetbatterypacks,making surethatthe
