paddlecontrol.

•TheSWITCHCONTROListhetraditionalPTO
engagementmethodandisonlycontrolledbythe
PTOswitchorthehydraulicauxiliaryswitch.

RateControl
ThisconsistsofPOWERCONTROL,AUTOMOTIVE
CONTROL,andRATECONTROL.Thisdetermineshow
theengineandtractionspeedarecontrolled.The
typesofratecontrolareasfollows:
•POWERCONTROL—thegroundspeedisvariable
throughthetractionpedalandtheenginespeed
islockedwheneitherthePTOorthehydraulic
auxiliaryswitchisengagedorenabled.Thisis
usedforattachmentsthatrequireaconstantPTO
speedandhydraulicow.Possibleuseswouldbe
apull-behindmowerordebrisblower.
•AUTOMOTIVECONTROL—boththeenginespeed
andthegroundspeedarevariablethroughthe
tractionpedalwheneitherthePTOorthehydraulic
auxiliaryswitchisengaged.ThePTOspeed
varieswithenginespeed.Possibleusesforthis
parameterincludea3-pointfertilizerspreaderin
whichyouneedtoslowthePTOspeedtoreduce
spreaderthrowingdistanceortoslowthemachine
tomaintainsafemachineoperation.
Youcansettheminimumspeedalarmtoremind
theoperatortomaintainspeedassoonasitis
safetodoso.
Note:Withtheproperparametersettings,you
cansetthemaximumoperatingspeedandsetthe
warningbuzzerfortheminimumspeed.Setthe
minimumspeedbuzzertoremindtheoperatorto
maintainspeedassoonasitissafetodoso.
•RATECONTROL—theenginespeedislockedand
thegroundspeedislimitedandlockedtothe
speedsetintheparameterswhenthePTOorthe
hydraulicauxiliaryisengaged.Possibleusesfor
thisparameterareanaeratororspreaderwhen
itissafetodoso.
Note:Ifratecontrolisselected,themachinemustbe
movingtoemploytheattachment.Usethissettingfor
rate-criticalattachments.
DecelResponse
Thiscontrolsthereactiontimeofthemachinewhen
youreleasethetractionpedal.
Thetypesofresponseareasfollows:
1.LOW—tractionslowsgraduallywhenyourelease
thetractionpedal.Thisresponserateislike
operatingacar.
2.MEDIUM—tractionslowsmoderatelywhenyou
releasethetractionpedal.Thisresponseislike
operatingahydrostaticdrivemachine.
3.HIGH—tractionslowsmostquicklywhenyou
releasethetractionpedal.Thisresponseis
recommendedwhenusingaloader.
MaximumTransportSpeed
Thisisthemaximumgroundspeedduringtransport.
ThisisusedwheninATTACHMENTMODEbutthePTO
andthehydraulicauxiliaryswitcharedisengaged.It
isadjustablefrom1.6to33.8km/hr(0.5to8mph)
in0.16km/hr(0.1mph)increments.Adjustthisfor
eachattachmentanduseaslowerspeedforlarge
andheavyattachments.
MaximumReverseSpeed
Thisisthemaximumreversespeedasapercentage
ofthemaximumtransportspeed.Itisadjustablefrom
10to100%in10%increments.Therecommended
useis50%orlessformostattachments.Uselower
speedswhenoperatingtheloaderandhigherspeeds
whenusingasnowblade.
MaximumTurnaroundSpeed
Thisparameterisrequiredonlyfor3-pointattachments
engagedbythepaddle.Thisisthemaximumground
speedwhentheattachmentisliftedtothe3-point

turnaroundposition.Itisadjustablefrom0.8km/hr
(0.5mph)tomaximumtransportspeedin0.16km/hr
(0.1mph)increments.Usealowerspeedwhenthe
weightandsizeoftheattachmentislarge.
Whenusinganattachmentthatrequiresalow
groundspeed,suchasanaerator,youtypicallyspeed
uptoturnaroundattheendofapass.Whenusing
afastergroundspeedattachment,youtypically
turnaroundslowertoavoiddamagingtheturforto
maneuversafely.
MaximumWorkSpeed
Thisisthemaximumgroundspeedwhenthe
attachmentisengaged.
Youcanadjusttherateofanattachmentbychanging
groundspeed.Forapowerattachment,limitthe
speedtoallowforappropriateperformance,suchasa
mowerattachment.
MinimumWorkSpeed
Thisisthedesiredminimumgroundspeedwhenthe
attachmentisengaged.Analarmsoundsandtext
displayoccurswhenthegroundspeedgoesbelow
thissetting.Itisadjustablefrom0.0to0.8km/hr(0.0
to0.5mph)belowthemaximumworkspeedin0.16
km/hr(0.1mph)increments.Refertothemanual
foreachattachmentusedtopreventdamagetothe
attachment.
WorkSpeedAdjustmentSpan
ThisparameteronlyappliestoattachmentswithRATE
CONTROL.Thisparameterallowsthesupervisorto
congurethegroundspeedrangetheyallowthe
operatortohavewhenoperatingarate-controlled
attachment.Thisrangeallowstheoperatortochange
theworkspeedbypressingtheplusorminusbutton
nexttothecruisecontrolonlywithintherange.You
canssettherangebetween0and1.6km/hr(0to1
mph)in0.16km/hr(0.1mph)incrementstomaintain
theexactmaximumworkspeed.Youusethison
anattachmentlikeanaeratorortopdresser.When
operatingtheToro1298aerator,aspeedrangeof
0.16km/hr(0.1mph)allowstheoperatortochange
thespacing4.8mm(3/16inch)wideror4.8mm(3/16
inch)narrowerthantheparametersetting.Ifthe
supervisorsetsthisrangeto0,theoperatorcannot
changethespacinginanydirection.

Three-PointMinWorkPosition
Thisisthelowest3-pointhitchpositionthatthePTO
isallowedtorotatewhenengaged.
Note:Lowertheattachmentandverifythatthe
PTOdriveshaftdoesnotbottomoutorseparateby
exceedingthemaximumextension.
Lowertheattachmenttothelowest,allowedpoint
andnotetheheightpositionontheStatusDisplay
screenandenteritintotheparametersettinginthe
InfoCenterscreen(Figure22).
Forpaddleengagedattachments,thisistheworking
positionwiththePTOengaged.Thispreventsthe
attachmentfromgoinglowerthanthisheightdueto
thePTOanglebeingtoosevereatlowerangles.
Forswitchengagedattachments,ensurethatthe
3-pointhitchisbetweenthemaximumandminimum
workpositionstoengagethePTO.Onceitisengaged,
thisistheminimumheighttheattachmentisallowed
tobeengaged.
Setthisto0,tohavetheattachmentworkintheoat

attachmentbelowthispositionispossible.Youcannot
engagethePTObelowtheminimumworkposition.

Thiscontrolsthe3-pointlowerrate.Itisadjustable
from10to100%in10%increments.
Thishelpspreventdamagetoturfwhendroppingthe
attachmentintotheturf.

ThiscontrolsthespeedatwhichthePTOreachesits
programmedspeed.
