Maintenance
Furniture Protection
Desk pads and coasters should be used to help
protect the surface against dents, scratches,
moisture and hot or cold liquids. Objects should be
lifted, not pulled or pushed across the surface, to
avoid scratching the furniture. Felt or leather pads
should be used on the bottom of office equipment or
accessories.
Cleaning Melamine Surfaces
For all laminate tops, painted and plated metals, and
plastics: Wiping with a damp cloth will remove
general soiling and water-borne stains. If needed,
use a hard-surface, all purpose cleaner. Some oil-
borne stains may require the use of a dry-cleaning
fluid or naphtha. To fill scratches in wood grain
laminate tops, use an oak, walnut, or mahogany
putty stick (available at paint supply and hardware
stores).
Cleaning Hardware
Metal finishes should be cleaned with water and/or a
non-abrasive cleaner. Household cleaners for wood
may be used, but usually warm water is sufficient.
Wipe the hardware with a damp, soft cloth, or a cloth
to which you have sparingly applied the cleaner.
Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
Moving Furniture
When moving desks short distances, make sure that
the legs are secured to the body of the unit. Move
the unit by picking it up and carefully placing it into
the new position. The desk should not be dragged
on the floor. When moving long distances, legs
should be detached from the desk body.
