Übersicht
Das Infrarot-Thermometer TFI 550 ist für
vielfältige Mess- und Kontrollaufgaben in
Industrie, Handel und Handwerk geeig-
net.
Die Optik des Gerätes erfasst die emit-
tierte, reflektierte und durchgelassene
Wärmestrahlung, die gebündelt und auf
einen Detektor fokussiert wird.
Die Geräteelektronik wandelt diese Infor-
mation in einen Temperaturwert um, der
auf dem Display angezeigt wird.
Der eingebaute Laser wird zum Zielen
verwendet.
¾Einfach zielen, Messtaste (6) drücken.
Sehr bald werden Sie feststellen, welche
Vorteile Ihnen dieses einfach zu bedie-
nende und schnelle Gerät bei Ihren Routi-
nekontrollen bringt.

Overview
The infrared thermometer TFI 550 is
suited to a multitude of measurement
and control tasks in industry, trade and
crafts.
The optics of the device record the emit-
ted, reflected and absorbed heat radiation
which is bundled and focussed on a
detector.
The device electronics change this infor-
mation into a temperature value which
appears on the display. The built-in laser is
used for targeting.
¾Simply aim and press the measurement
key (6).
You will soon note the numerous advan-

Vue d’ensemble
Le thermomètre infrarouge TFI 550
convient à de nombreuses applications
de mesure et de contrôle dans l’industrie,
le commerce et l’artisanat.
L’optique de l’appareil enregistre le rayon
calorifique dégagé, réfléchi et émis, qui
est rassemblé en un faisceau et focalisé
sur le détecteur.
L’électronique contenue dans l’appareil
transforme cette information en degrés,
lesquels s’affichent ensuite sur l’écran.
Le laser a été intégré pour favoriser l’ajus-
tement.

Sicherheitshinweise
Warnung vor Laserlicht
Richten Sie den Laserstrahl nicht direkt
oder indirekt über reflektierende Oberflä-
chen auf Ihre oder anderer Leute Augen.
HINWEIS:
Dieses Gerät misst die Oberflächen-
temperaturen, keine Kerntemperaturen.
Um Temperaturgrenzwerte exakt zu be-
stimmen, benutzen Sie am besten ein nor-
males Kontaktthermometer oder einen
optionalen NiCr-Ni-Fühler für dieses Mess-
gerät (siehe Zubehör).
Nicht in Reichweite von Kindern aufbe-
wahren!
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen
Das Infrarotmessgerät muss vor fol-
genden Einflüssen geschützt werden:
•EMF (elektromagnetische Felder) von
Elektroschweissgeräten und
Induktionsheizgeräten,
•Statischer Elektrizität,
•Thermischer Schock verursacht durch
große oder plötzliche
Temperaturänderungen - Gerät vor
Gebrauch 30 Miuten lang stabilisieren
lassen,
•Gerät nicht auf oder in der Nähe von
heißen oder sehr kalten Objekten
aufbewahren.

Warning
Do not point laser beam directly at eye or
indirectly off reflective surfaces.
NOTE:
This unit does not measure internal tem-
peratures. Verify the product temperature
with a conventional probe thermometer
or an optional NiCr-Ni sensor for this mea-
suring device (see accessories).
Do not store within reach of children!
Cautions
The Infrared thermometer should be pro-
tected from the following:
•EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference)
from induction heaters and microwave
ovens.
•Electrostatic discharge.
•Thermal shock caused by large or
abrupt ambient temperature changes -
allow 30 minutes for unit to stabilize
before use when exposed to thermal
shock.
•Do not leave the unit on or near objects
of high temperature.

Précautions
Le thermomètre doit être protégés contre:
•Les champs électromagnétiques des
postes de soudure, les appareils de
chauffage par induction,
•L’électricité statique,
•Les chocs thermiques causés par
d’importants ou de brusques
changements de température - laissez
le thermomètre se stabiliser pendant 30
minutes avant de l’utiliser,
•Ne laissez pas le thermomètre sur ou à
proximité d’objets à température
élevée.

ebro gewährleistet, dass das Produkt bei
normalem Einsatz und Bedienung für den
Zeitraum von zwei Jahren, gerechnet vom
Datum des Erwerbs an, mit Ausnahme der
nachstehend aufgeführten Umstände, frei
von Material- und Herstellungsfehlern ist.
Diese Garantie erstreckt sich nur auf den
Erstkäufer (ein Kauf bei ebro oder von
einem lizenzierten Händler gilt als Erst-
kauf).
•Die Garantie bezieht sich nicht auf die
Batterien.
•Die Garantie gilt nicht für Produkte, die
mißbraucht oder vernachlässigt, in
einen Unfall verwickelt oder
unsachgemäßen Betriebs- oder
Lagerbedingungen unterworfen
wurden.
Im Fall eines Ausfalls des Produkts wäh-
rend der Garantiefrist ist das Produkt
zwecks Reparatur oder Austausch an ebro
bzw. an den Händler zurückzusenden,
von dem das Gerät erworben wurde. Der

der Garantiefrist besteht im Austausch
oder der Reparatur des Geräts oder der
Rückerstattung des Kaufpreises.

ebro warrants this product to be free from
defects in material and workmanship
under normal use and service for a period
of two years from date of purchase,
except as hereinafter provided. This war-
ranty extends only to the original pur-
chaser (a purchase from ebro or ebro-
licensed distributors is an original pur-
chase).
•This warranty shall not apply to
batteries.
•The warranty shall not apply to any
product which has been subject to
misuse, neglect, accident, or abnormal
conditions of operation or storage.
In the event of failure under warranty,
return this product to ebro or to the dis-
tributor or retailer from whom it was pur-
chased for replacement or repair.
Purchaser’s exclusive remedy under war-
ranty shall be replacement, repair, or
refund of the purchase price.
The foregoing warranty is in lieu of all
other warranties, expressed or implied,
including but not limited to any implied
warranty of merchantability, fitness, or
adequacy for any particular purpose or
use. ebro shall not be liable for any spe-
cial, incidental, or consequential dam-
ages, whether in contract, tort, or

Bedienung
Einlegen der Batterien
¾Entfernen Sie den Batteriefachdeckel
auf der Vorderseite des Thermometers.
¾Legen Sie zwei alkalische 1,5 V-Micro-
Zellen AAA (z.B. Typ LR 03) in das Batte-
riefach ein.
Achten Sie auf die Polarität!
Umschaltung °C / °F
¾Um zwischen Celsius und Fahrenheit
umzuschalten, drücken Sie die Down-
Taste (4).
Die erfolgte Änderung ist am Symbol
sichtbar.
LOCK Mode
Der Lock Mode ist besonders dann nütz-
lich, wenn die aktuelle Temperatur perma-
nent angezeigt werden soll.
¾Das Thermometer zeigt Ihnen bis zu 60
Min lang die aktuelle Temperatur an
oder solange, bis Sie wieder die Taste
(2) drücken.
Umschaltung Laserpointer
¾Um zwischen Laserpointer und nicht
Laserlicht umzuschalten, drücken Sie
die Messtaste (7), halten diese gedrückt
und betätigen gleichzeitig die Down-
Taste (4).
Die erfolgte Änderung ist am Symbol (L)
sichtbar.

Operation
Loading the battery
¾Remove the battery compartment
cover on the front side of the ther-
mometer.
¾Place two alkaline 1,5 V AAA micro cells
(e.g. Type LR 03) in the battery com-
partment.
Ensure correct polarity!
Selecting °C and °F
¾In order to switch between Celsius and
Fahrenheit, depress the down key (4).
The resulting change is visible by the sym-
bol.
LOCK Mode
The Lock Mode is especially useful, if the
current temperature is supposed to be
constantly displayed.
¾The thermometer displays the current
temperature for 60 minutes or as long
as button (2) is depressed.
Selecting laser pointer
¾In order to switch between laser
pointer and non laser pointer, depress
the measurement key (7), hold it down
and simultaneously depress the down
key (4).
The resulting change is visible by the sym-
bol (L).
Utilisation

être affichée en permanence.

rappuyez sur (2).
Conversion le laser pointer
¾Pour pouvoir passer le laserpointer et
non le laserpointer, appuyez sur la tou-
che de mesure (7) et gardez la touche
pressée pendant que vous appuyez sur
la touche de réduction (4).
Le symbole (L) change et vous confirme
ainsi la modification.

Hintergrundbeleuchtung
Das Display besitzt eine Hintergrundbe-
leuchtung, die das Ablesen von Mess-
werten bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen
ermöglicht.
¾Um die Beleuchtung einzuschalten,
drücken Sie die Messtaste (7), halten
diese gedrückt und betätigen gleich-
zeitig die Up-Taste (2).
¾Das Ausschalten der Beleuchtung
erfolgt durch nochmaliges Drücken der
beiden Tasten.
Emissionsgrad
Die meisten im Lebensmittelbereich auf-
tretenden Produkte (einschließlich Was-
ser, anderer Flüssigkeiten und in Kartons
oder Plastikbehältern verpackter Lebens-
mittel) haben einen Emissionsgrad um
0,95. Das Gerät ist deshalb auf 0,95 vorein-
gestellt.
¾Zur Einstellung drücken Sie die Emissi-
onswert-Taste (3), anschließend die Up-
Taste (2), um den Emissionsfaktor zu
vergrößern oder die Down-Taste (4),
um den Emissionsfaktor zu verkleinern.
¾Bestätigen Sie den Wert (E) durch Drü-
cken der Betriebsart-Taste (3).

Background lighting
¾The display is backlit in order to enable
the reading of measured values in poor
light conditions.
¾To turn on the lighting, press the mea-
surement key (7), hold it down, and
simultaneously depress the up key (2).
¾To turn off the lighting, press both keys
again.
Degree of emission
Most products occurring in the field of
foods (including water, other liquids or
foods packaged in cartons or plastic con-
tainers) have a degree of emission around
0.95. For this reason, the device is pre-set
to 0.95.
¾To make a setting, press the emission
value key (3), afterwards press the up
key (2) to increase the emission factor
or the down key (4) to decrease the
emission factor.
¾Confirm the value (E) by pressing the
operating mode key (3).
You can find the emission factors of vari-
ous materials in the addendum to this
operating manual.

Blanke oder metallische Oberflächen
ergeben ungenaue Messungen. Man
kann dies umgehen, indem die zu mes-
sende Oberfläche mattschwarz gestri-
chen oder mit mattem Klebeband
abgedeckt wird. Warten Sie, bis die Abde-
ckung den Temperaturwert des Mess-
objektes angenommen hat.
Wenn Sie zum Beispiel einen Grill messen
wollen, wählen Sie eine Stelle, an der das
Metall bereits geschwärzt ist.
Messentfernung und
Messfleckgröße
Mit steigender Messentfernung (D) ver-
größert sich der Messfleckdurchmesser
(S).
Sichtfeld
Achten Sie darauf, dass das Messobjekt
größer ist als die Messfleckgröße des
Gerätes. Die zwei Laser Punkte definieren
die Ziel-Messfleckgröße. Je kleiner das
Messobjekt, desto näher müssen Sie an
das Objekt herangehen.
Wenn die Messgenauigkeit von aus-
schlaggebender Bedeutung ist, sollte das
Messobjekt wenigstens doppelt so groß
wie die Messfleckgröße sein.

Shiny or metallic surfaces result in impre-
cise measurements. One can avoid this by
painting the surface to be measured in
matte black or covering it with matte
tape. Wait until the covering has taken the
temperature of the object to be mea-
sured.
If you wish to measure a grill, for instance,
choose a place where the metal is already
blackened.
Measurement distance and size of
the measurement spot
As the measurement distance (D)
increases, the measurement spot
increases in diameter (S).
Field of vision
Ensure that the measurement object is
larger than the size of the measurement
spot. The two laser points are the refer-
ence for the target spot size. The smaller
the object to be measured, the more
closely you will have to approach it.
If the precision of the measurement is of
decisive importance, the object to be
measured should be at least twice as large
as the measurement spot.

ture noire mate sur la surface à mesurer
ou en y collant une bande adhésive mate.

Distance à l’objet et diamètre du
spot
Avec une distance de plus en plus éloi-
gnée de l’objet à mesurer (D), le diamètre
du spot s’élargit aussi (S).
Champ optique
Prenez garde que l’objet à mesurer soit
plus grand que le diamètre du spot de
l’appareil. Les deux points de laser sont la
référence pour la taille de tache de cible.
Plus l’objet est petit, plus vous devez vous
en rapprocher.
Si la précision de la mesure est d’une
importance primordiale, l’objet à mesurer
devrait être deux fois plus grand que le
diamètre du spot.

Temperaturmessung
HINWEIS:
•Zur Messung von Temperaturen
glänzender oder hochpolierter
Metalloberflächen (z.B. Edelstahl,
Aluminium usw.) wird das Gerät nicht
empfohlen. Siehe auch Abschnitt
„Emissionsgrad“.
•Das Gerät kann nicht durch
transparente Oberflächen wie z.B. Glas
messen. Statt dessen misst es die
Oberflächentemperatur des Glases.
•Dampf, Staub, Rauch usw. können die
korrekte Temperaturbestimmung
behindern.
•Wenn Sie Flüssigkeiten messen wollen,
rühren Sie diese während der Messung
gründlich um!
Temperaturmessung mit Infrarot
¾Zum Messen richten Sie das Thermo-
meter genau auf das Messobjekt. Eine
Hilfe dafür sind die beiden Laserpunkte
die als rotleuchtende Punkte auf dem
Ziel sichtbar werden, sobald Sie die
Messtaste (7) drücken.
Die LCD-Anzeige zeigt die momentane
Temperatur in Grad Celsius oder Grad Fah-
renheit an. Nach Loslassen der Messtaste
(7) wird der Messwert weitere 60 Sekun-
den lang angezeigt; dabei wird das Wort
HOLD (H) eingeblendet. Dann schaltet
sich das Gerät selbsttätig ab.
