1x Z3-DME-03 enclosure
2x FFC/Ribbon Cables (pitch 0.5mm, 40 pin, length 49mm)
1x 5V DC Fan (SUNON Part# MC30100V1-000U-A99)
4x Silver Pan Head Screws (3x4mm) Inside
2x Black Flat Head Screws (3x4mm) Outside
3x Black Flat Head Screws (3x14mm) Fan
3xSilver Nuts (M3)
For assembly, always use a torque screwdriver. The default is to set it to 10 lbs of torque.
2.0 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
(1) Place the module and APP board on an anti-static mat. Insert the Z3-DM8107-MOD-02 into the Z3-
DM8107-APP-21 and use 2x ribbon cables to connect the module and APP on the other end. However,
Figure 1 below shows the wrong ribbon cable position because this will prevent the air flow from the fan
once the module and APP board are placed in the enclosure.

(2) The ribbon cable on the right should be folded inwards so the folded part will be in between the module

and the APP board. See Figure 2.

(3) Unscrew the washer and nut on the BNC connector.

(4) On the bottom enclosure, place the 5V DC Fan so that it aligns with the screw holes. The label on the fan
should be facing outward from the enclosure. The fan should be blowing air into the enclosure. You can
test this at the end by putting a small piece of paper outside the fan and verifying it is being sucked into
the enclosure.
*Note: Do not touch the center of the fan

(5) Use 3x black flat head screws (3x14mm) to mount the 5V DC Fan onto the enclosure (Position 1, 2 and 3
in the picture below). Then secure the fan in position with 3x silver nuts (M3) shown in Figure 7.

(6) Align the fan wires nicely on the bottom of the enclosure and use tape to hold it in place.

(7) Place the combined PCBA and align it properly to match the screw holes (positions 1, 2, 3, 4 in the
picture below). Screw in the 4 silver pan head screws in the order shown by the numbers below. Use the
torque screwdriver at 10 lbs torque.

(8) Connect the fan wire to the Z3-DM8107-APP-21 at J15.

(9) Reposition the red LED on the Z3-DM8107-APP-21. The LED must be 3mm from the switch. The switch

must be lying flat on the APP board.

(10) Create an air duct by using a piece of clear film. Cut out the duct to match the dimensions in the figure
below.

(11) Place the film piece that was just created on the left side of the system.
(12) Make sure the film is in the correct position (See Figures below). The film should be inserted into the
MOD with the APP board.

(13) Place the film into the gap of the fan (See Figure Below).

(14) The remaining film should be aligned on top of the module.
(15) Tuck the cut-out pieces of the film down so they appear like the following Figure.

(16) The air duct should now be installed.
(17) Put the top and bottom enclosure together (but not all the way) to check LED alignment.

(18) In order to be able to reposition the LED, do not completely close the enclosure as shown in the picture
below.

(19) If the LED looks like Figure 28, you will need to reposition the LED. The LED needs to be nicely
aligned as shown in Figure 29.

(20) Once the LED and the switch are well positioned, slowly assemble the top and bottom enclosure together.

(21) Now put the washer back on the BNC connector and screw the nut back in.

(22) Use 2x black flat head screws to secure the top and bottom enclosure together.

(23) After carefully assembling the Z3-DME-03, the back and front of the end product should look like the
following figures.

(24) Place the 4 rubber feet at the bottom of the enclosure.
