1.0 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ZEUS BLD265-SC2 Multi-Format Video Decoder is a system capable of processing multi-format H.265
and H.264 High Profile video in resolutions up to 1080p60. The hardware includes 2 decoder channels. The
BLD265-SC2 has two CVBS output interfaces and two SDI output interfaces along with Ethernet and HDMI Out
interfaces. The HDMI Out interface is not in NTSC display mode.

2.2 LED Functions
The Power LED will be green when the unit has received power
The channel LEDs will flash green while the channel is running.
The channel LEDs will flash red while the unit is polling or stopped

3.0 GETTING STARTED WITH THE BLD265-SC2
3.1 Connecting to the BLD265-SC2
The BLD265-SC2 uses a modern HTML5-embedded Web server for user configuration. Users can connect
to the Z3 device via Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) port. The factory default IP is 192.168.0.59.
4.0 QUICK START GUIDE
4.1 If you have received a system from Z3 with Software Preloaded
To start working with the decoder, you can go straight to Section Error! Reference source not found., “
GETTING STARTED WITH THE BLD265-SC2,” on page 8. This section describes how to quickly generate a
UDP, RTP, RTSP or RTMP stream over IP. Information is also provided on how to change bitrate
dynamically, how to adjust the UDP TS rate, tuning for latency, streaming in multiple resolutions,
recording to USB and utilizing various features including MPTS, closed captioning and forward error
correction.
4.2 If You Already have a System from Z3 and Need to Update the Firmware
You can update the firmware via the HTTP-based user interface by following the instructions in Section
11.1: “Making a Firmware Update”, on page 16.
*Note: Actual version numbers for your Z3 product may differ from those pictured in this document.
4.3 Access the User Interface using ZFinder
ZFinder is a PC Utility that allows you to find any Z3 Technology product on your network. If you have
not downloaded this to your computer, you can find it on the USB drive provided with your system.
(1) Verify your PC is on the same network. If you are not in the same network, your device will appear
in red in Z-Finder or Z-Finder may not be able to find your device.
(2) Run the “ZFinder” PC Utility on your Windows PC. The ZFinder window appears. ZFinder completes a
scan of the network and lists the location of all Z3 systems connected to the network. In this case,
the Z3-DME-20 appears.
(3) Click on the BLD265-SC2 entry in the window to select it. This will cause the “Edit Device”, “Open
Device” and “Flash LEDs” boxes to activate.

*Note: Selecting “Edit Device” allows for manual changes to network settings including the Device Name, IP Address,
Netmask and Gateway address. Edit Device will only edit the device in Z-Finder. IP settings will need to changed and
Save in the System Set-up tab of the web gui. Selecting “Flash LED’s” causes the status lights to flash and can be
helpful if multiple devices are in use.
*Note: If the device appears in red, there is a network error, and network settings will need to be modified in order
to access the user interface.

5.0 STREAMING RTSP
Pictured is a screencap of RTSP streaming configured. In ‘Channel Controls’ there is a “status: RUNNING”
showing the BLD265-SC2 is decoding. To stop the stream, click on the “stop” button.

6.0 STREAMING UDP
To stream UDP choose the protocol UDP option. The URL format is udp://0.0.0.0:localport

7.0 DISPLAY SETUP
On the System Setup tab, the “Display Setup” section controls the display outputs and their display
resolutions.
When “Display Output” is set to “dual” (default setting), the Resolution setting corresponds to SDI/CVBS
output #1, and 2nd Resolution is SDI/CVBS output #2.
The CH1 tab specifies the decode settings for SDI/CVBS output #1.
The CH2 tab specifies the decode settings for SDI/CVBS output #2.
The CVBS output is only active in “ntsc” mode.
When “Display Output” is set to “single”, the “Resolution” setting corresponds to SDI/CVBS output #2,
decoder settings are from CH1 tab, and CH2 tab is not used.
To change display resolutions, select the new resolutions in the “Resolution” and “2nd Resolution” drop-
downs, then hit the “Set Display” buttons.

8.0 LATENCY
It is recommended to review the document DOC-USR-0147-01_Z3Cam-4K_Latency_note.pdf for a better
understanding on the testing methodology to obtain optimum latency results with the decoder.

11.0 PERFORMING OTHER OPERATIONS WITH THE BLD265-SC2
11.1 Making a Firmware Update
(1) Open the user interface.
(2) Select “Update device firmware” from the “System Setup” tab under the “Device Management”
section.

(3) This brings you to the update image screen. In this screen, click on the “Choose File” button.

(4) This brings you to the file selection screen. From here, select the name of the .img file to update
with and click “Open”.
The image file to be used will typically have the word “UPD” in the name.
(5) Click the “Upload and Update” button.
(6) You will see screens stating that the image is being uploaded and that the flash is being updated.
After about one minute, you should see the main menu again.
(7) Your BLD265-SC2 is now updated.

11.2 Setting an SSH Idle Timeout
To set an SSH idle timeout navigate to Device Management on the System Setup tab. Click the “go” button
by the Configure SSH option below:

Set Enable SSH to TRUE to allow SSH connections.
Set SSH Idle Timeout to the desired number of seconds, use 0 or -1 or forever or else 1 to 9999 seconds.
Click change to save the settings.

11.3 HTTP Support
The BLD265-SC2 has HTTPS support, to create a self-signed certificate check the Self-signed certificate
checkbox:
(1) On the System Setup tab Click on Go for Set HTTP/HTTPS

(2) Click on Choose File for Select SSL certificate and choose the desired crt.
(3) Click on Choose File for Select SSL Key and choose the key file that was just created.
(4) Check the Enable HTTPS checkbox.
(5) Click on change
Test by using https://x.x.x.x in your web browser. If using a Self-Signed Certificate, you may have to tell
your browser to trust your certificate. Clicking on the “Go” button again will show you if your key and
certificate file are valid.

11.3.1 Generating a Self-Signed Certificate
To generate a self-signed certificate, check the Self-signed certificate checkbox on the System Setup tab:
(1) On the System Setup tab Click on Go for Set HTTP/HTTPS
(2) Check the Enable HTTPS checkbox.
(3) Check the Self-signed certificate checkbox.
(4) Enter the desired information on Country, State/Province, Locality, Organization, Organizational
Unit, Common Name, and Days Valid for the self-signed certificate.
(5) Click on change.
This will create a self-signed certificate for HTTPS with the above specifications.
11.4 Configuring Web GUI Login
The BLD265-SC2 provides the option to set a password to limit access to the user interface.
Note: To disable the password requirement set the password to blank and click change.
(1) In the System Setup tab, click on the go button next to Set Password.
(2) The change password options appear. Enter your desired password twice.
(3) Max login Attempts sets the number of failed attempts before the IP is locked out.
(4) Login Attempt Window sets the number of seconds in which maximum number of failed login
attempts can be reached.
