Respirators must be inspected before each use to ensure good operating condition.
The facepiece must be repaired or replaced if there are damaged or defective parts.

Inspection Procedure
Check facepiece for cracks,
tears and dirt. Be certain
facepiece, especially face-
seal area, is not distorted.

Examine inhalation valves
for signs of distortion,
cracking or tearing.

Make sure that head straps
are intact and have good
elasticity.

Examine all plastic parts
for signs of cracking or
fatiguing. Make sure filter
gaskets and seal areas are
in good condition.

Examine exhalation valve
and valve seat for signs of
dirt, distortion, cracking or
tearing.

Donning Procedure
Proper donning procedures must be followed to ensure the respiratory
protection rating is achieved.
Place halo shaped plastic
strap on back of head.

Attach clasp on strap behind
neck.

Pull all straps until
mask is firm on face.

To ensure adequate respiratory protection the facepiece must form a
seal on your face. If you cannot achieve a proper seal do not enter the
contaminated area.
Seal Check Procedure
The 3M 7093 Filter Cartridge
is designed to seal and block
airflow when compressed
together.

Using hands squeeze both
filter cartridges between
palm and fingers. Be careful
not to disturb the position of
the respirator.

Inhale gently. If you feel the
facepiece collapse slightly and
pull closer to your face with
no leaks between your face
and the facepiece, a proper
seal has been achieved.

If face-seal air leakage is
detected, reposition
respirator on face and/or
readjust tension of
straps to eliminate the
leakage.

Doffing Procedure
Proper doffing procedures must be followed to reduce the risk of
exposure to contaminates on the outside of the mask. Ensure that
your gown has been doffed before doffing your respirator.
Doff contaminated PPE
And
Remove contaminated
gloves.

Put a new pair of
clean gloves on.

Undo clasp on strap behind
neck.

Locate the elastic straps
near your ears and pull
out/up, removing the
mask away from you.

Carefully remove and
place in an area ready for
cleaning.

Cleaning Procedure
Respirators must be thoroughly cleaned after being contaminated and
at the end of each shift. Whena full cleaning is not possibleSani-Hands
wipes may be used to wipe the outside of the mask to perform partial
cleaning. Do not wipe the inside of the maskwith the same wipe used
to wipe the outside.
Use the following supplies
from your station inventory:
•2 Red Buckets (cleaned)
•Waxie 910 solution
•Wipe-all towels
•Nitrile Gloves

Fill two buckets with warm
Waxie 910 cleaner using the
mop bucket filler.
not to exceed 120º F

Remove filter cartridges. Wipe
plastic with 910 saturated
Wipe-all.

DO NOT spray cleaner
inside the cartridge.
DO NOT use compressed
air to clean cartridge.
Clean FACEPIECE ONLY (not
filters) by immersing in first
bucket of warm 910 solution,
rubbing with Wipe-all.

Disinfect by submerging in
second bucket of warm 910
solution for 60 seconds.
Allow 910 cleaner to stay on
mask for 9 minutes before
rinsing with water.

Rinse in fresh, warm water and
air dry in non-contaminated
atmosphere.

When reassembling your mask
ensure that your filter is in
good working order and not
expired.

Replace the filter if it is expired, damaged or
producing excess resistance when breathing.
