1. FOREWORD
This symbol means: "Consult operating instructions". Read the instructions for use
carefully before use and follow all instructions provided therein. Keep the
instructions for use for future reference.
This manual has been written in accordance with the specifications of the Machinery Directive as
amended. Thus, the manufacturer wants to inform the customer about the basic operating
principles, maintenance requirements and safety devices of the machine in a clear and easily
understandable form to ensure a long service life and reliable operation of the machine.
The slicing machines are subject to continuous improvements, but this does not affect the
instructions and information given in this manual.
Read this manual carefully before operating the slicing machine.
If this manual becomes worn out or gets lost over time, immediately request a copy of the manual
from the manufacturer.
The majority of accidents and injuries that occur when using the machine is due to insufficient
knowledge of its functions and safety devices. Therefore, the instructions and information contained
in this manual should be read carefully before starting work with the machine.
1.1 Introduction
The slicing machines are designed according to applicable safety standards. For this reason, you
will find the "CE" label on each of our slicing machines, which certifies compliance with the above
mentioned requirements.
1.2 Use
These slicing machines are used for slicing cooked and raw sausage products, hot or cold meat,
cheese and bread. The slice thickness is up to 15 mm.
The machine is suitable for approx. 60 catering guests (Hanseat 250) or approx. 100 catering
guests (Hanseat 300). These values are merely recommendations that are based on empirical
values and can differ depending on the application. The maximum switch on duration is 40%
(based on 1 hour = 24 minutes). Thereafter, a corresponding cooling time for the motor must be
taken into account. At shorter switch on times, the cooling intervals are also correspondingly
shorter.
The machine may only be used in its original condition and with original parts. Disassembling the
protective equipment is not allowed. In case of damage to protective equipment, the machine must
be immediately put out of operation and ADE must be informed for the purpose of renewal or
replacement.
The slicing machines must never be used for slicing dee -frozen roducts, meat
or sausage roducts with bones or stone fruits.
Failure to observe these instructions can seriously damage the machine and,
where a licable, void existing warranty claims.

2. PREPARATION AND OPERATION
Upon receiving the package containing the slicing machine, make sure that it does not show any
damage incurred during transport.
2.1 O ening the ackaging
Open the box and remove the machine;
Check the package contents and check that it matches the specifications on the delivery note.
Packaging materials are valuable materials and must not be dis osed of in
household waste. Check with your local authorities for ro er dis osal o tions.
2.2 Installation
Place the slicing machine on a flat, smooth and vibration free surface that provides sufficient
strength and stability to ensure adequate safety, taking into account the machine's own weight. Any
unevenness can be corrected using the adjustable feet. When installing the machine, make sure
that there is at least 200 mm clearance in the motor vent area.
The controls (on/off switch and slice thickness setting) point towards the operator, the blade and
the motor in the opposite direction.
There must be enough clearance around the slicing machine to ensure trouble free operation,
cleaning and maintenance of the machine. This clearance should be at least 300 mm.
Proper operation of the machine is guaranteed at a relative humidity not exceeding 80% and with
heat sources in the immediate vicinity with a temperature not exceeding 30° C.
2.3 Electrical connection
Hanseat series machines are equipped as standard with 230V Schuko plug.
Insert the plug into the socket and check whether the existing mains supply is equipped with a
suitable circuit breaker. More safety is guaranteed by installing a safety fuse (0.5 A) in the fuse box.
The direction of rotation of the cutting blade must run counter clockwise when looking at the
machine from the side of the cutting blade guard (viewed from the front from top to bottom).
2.4 Functional rinci le
The slicing machine must be used exclusively for the purpose for which it was manufactured. Do
not hold the food with your hands during the slicing process. Use the remnant holder for this
purpose. Always keep your hands away from the cutting blade and use only the food carriage, food
carriage arm or the handle on the food carriage provided for this purpose to move the food carriage
back and forth.

3. OPERATING FEATURES AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
3.1 O erating features
The slicing machines are electrically operated by means of two buttons: a green operating button I
and a red stop button O.
In addition, the machine has a yellow control lamp within the green operating button to display
"cutting blade in operation".
The slicing machine was equipped with a circuit breaker within the cutting blade guard, which is
triggered when the voltage drops (NVR).
The operating button I must be pressed after each interruption of the machine operation due to a
voltage drop in order to restart it.
3.2 Mechanical fuses
The cutting blade is fully protected by a rigidly mounted cover, except for the section necessary
for the cutting operation.
The food carriage can only be removed if the stop plate covers the cutting blade and the slice
thickness setting knob with scale division is set to "0" (zero) or beyond all the way to the stop.
The slice thickness selector can only be opened using the knob when the food carriage is in its
normal operating position.
The cutting blade can be removed using chain gloves or using the optionally available blade
removal device. In any case, the user must exercise particular caution and care.
All fuses are mounted on the machine and must not be removed. Scrapping or unauthorised
modifications to the machine make it a dangerous device. In such cases, the manufacturer cannot
be held liable for any accidents or injuries.
3.3 Ins ection test
Check whether all the components of the slicing machine were correctly assembled.
Check whether the crank wheel to secure the cutting blade guard is locked.
Press the operating button and check whether the machine can actually be switched on and off.
Check the sliding motion of the food carriage and remnant holder.
Check the operation of the grinder.
Check the opening of the slice thickness selector.

4. USING THE SLICER
4.1 O erating rocedure
1) Set the knob "A" with scale division to "0" (zero).
2) Pull the food carriage on the carriage arm "B" as far as possible in the direction of the operator.
3) Lift the remnant holder "C" using the handle "D" provided for this purpose. Place the product
on the food carriage with the machine switched off and lower the remnant holder on or behind
the food. Secure the food using the guide rail integrated in the food carriage. Always make sure
that a small clearance remains between the guide rail and the food so that the food is not
jammed and thus prevents sliding. Tighten the fixing screw to prevent slipping of the guide rail.
4) For safety reasons, the remnant holder is firmly connected to the machine. If the food is longer
than the range of motion of the remnant holder, the latter is placed loosely on top. If the length
of the food exceeds the range of motion of the remnant holder, the latter is placed behind the
food. Set the desired slice thickness using knob "A". Selection of slice thickness can be infinitely
variable between 0 and 15mm.
5) Press the green operating button "E" to switch it on.
6) By firmly holding the handle on the food carriage arm "B", move the food carriage back and
forth to slice the food.
7) After slicing has been completed, switch off the machine using the red stop button "F" and reset
the slice thickness setting knob "A" for safety reasons.

5. MAINTENANCE AND CARE OF THE SLICER
For hygienic reasons, the slicing machine must always be kept clean. It must be dismantled and
cleaned every time the type of food is changed (for example, from fresh meat to roasted meat) and
at the end of each working day.
5.1 Cleaning
1) Pull the plug from the mains socket to disconnect the machine from the mains. Pressing the
red stop button "F" on the machine must never be considered as sufficient for this purpose.
2) Before removing the food carriage, set the slice thickness setting knob "A" to "0" (zero) or
higher.
3) Fully unscrew the crank wheel "G", no matter what position it is in.
4) With a slight jerk, pull the food carriage to the stop "H" in the direction of the frame so that the
locking mechanism of the locking unit is released. Now lift the food carriage vertically out of its
guide rails. The slice thickness selector remains locked in the "0" position.
The food carriage as well as all other removable arts must never be cleaned in
the dishwasher!
5) Fully unscrew the crank wheel "I" and remove the blade guard plate "J" from the machine using
a chain glove, for example.
6) If the optional blade removal device was purchased:
Position the blade removal device "K" on the drill holes "M" provided in the blade and screw it
onto the threaded openings using the two crank wheels "L".
7) Using a screwdriver, unscrew the screws of the cutting blade and then remove the entire cutting
blade using the blade removal device.
8) Clean the removed cutting blade with lukewarm water and some liquid detergent, rinse with
clear water, allow to dry and disinfect, for example, with some alcohol. The machine bed and
the other machine components must always be cleaned with some lukewarm water, some liquid
detergent and a non abrasive cloth; also in this case wiped with a cloth with clear water, allowed
to dry, and disinfected, for example, with some alcohol. Under any circumstances, do not use
abrasive or sodium hypochlorite based detergents, as this would irreversibly damage the
anodised surfaces of the machine.
9) Reassemble the machine in reverse order as described above.
When cleaning, make sure that no water gets into the blade hub, as damage may
otherwise occur to the ball bearing, motor and machine interior. In addition, there
is a risk of formation of flash rust if it is not sufficiently dried.
Under no circumstances can the machine - or its arts - be treated with a water jet
or high- ressure cleaner.
Cleaning of the food carriage, blade cover late and other removable arts in the
dishwasher is not allowed!
The cutting blade guard is a articularly im ortant rotective device and may only
be removed if the cutting blade is fixed in its normal osition with screws!
5.2 Lubrication
To always ensure a perfectly smooth sliding movement of the food carriage and the remnant
holder, the slicing machine must be lubricated at regular intervals on the food carriage guide rail
and the remnant holder guide rail; use only a high quality acid and resin free Vaseline oil (such as
MARCOL 82 ESSO or WHITE OIL 105 BERGOIL); such lubrication should be carried out regularly
in small amounts.

7
Hanseat 210617 Rev008 UM en
6. SHARPENING OPERATIONS
To ensure trouble free operation of the slicing machine, the cutting blade must be always well
sharpened. It should be taken into account that regular short sharpening of the cutting blade is
preferable over an extensive sharpening process.
Before starting such work, make sure that the knob with scale division is set to "0".
Shar ening is only suitable for blades with a smooth cutting edge. Serrated
blades for bread slicing machines must be shar ened by a s ecialist.
Only shar en the cleaned and com letely grease-free cutting blade, since
shar ening a cutting blade with food residues can damage both the grinding
device and its grinding wheels.
After sharpening, remove any dirt deposits from the grinding wheels. In addition, sand grains that
may adhere to the cutting blade or to the machine must be removed using a cloth soaked with
some alcohol.
6.1 Sharpening the blade
1) Clean the blade on both sides with the stop plate closed (knob A in the 0 position or beyond).
2) Switch off the machine and turn the slice thickness selector A to the left all the way to the stop
(maximum open position).
3) Attach the grinder to the stop plate.
Only su lied grinders and grinders of same ty e may be used.
To attach, pull the food carriage on the food carriage arm "B" completely towards the operator
and fold up the remnant holder "C". Fully unscrew the black knob of the supplied grinder. Guide
the threaded end that is now becoming visible from the food carriage side through the hole on
the upper edge of the stop plate and screw the grinder with the knob such that the edge of the
grinder rests on the upper edge of the stop plate.
4) Switch on the slicing machine. Using a slight clockwise rotation of the slice thickness selector,
pull the grinding wheel to the rotating blade carefully and with little effort. The contact must be
made in such a way that the grinding wheel rotates. A few seconds are typically enough to
sharpen the blade.
5) After sharpening, switch off the slicing machine, remove the grinding device in the reverse order
and reset the slice thickness selector to "0".
6) Thoroughly clean the blade and the remnant holder shaft of adhering grinding chips with a
cloth.
Shar ening of the cutting blade may only be carried out by authorised and trained
ersonnel.
Never clean the cutting blade while the machine is in o eration (i.e., while the
cutting blade is running).
The blade can no longer be shar ened if the wear of the blade diameter is more
than 6 mm.

7. TRAINING
During installation of the slicing machine, the adult operator of the machine must be adequately
trained in the areas of use cleaning maintenance sharpening of the cutting blade, taking
particular account of the dangers arising from improper use.
The training must be carried out by the person entrusted with the installation of the machine and
who has sufficient knowledge of the EC standards in machine engineering.
8. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning of the slicing machine is exclusively reserved for persons trained for this purpose.
Pull the plug from the socket. In this case, switching off the machine using the red stop button
must never be considered sufficient to switch off the machine from the mains.
The machine must be moved by two persons, using the four feet as a guide.
The cutting blade must be replaced as soon as the distance between the cutting blade guard and
the cutting blade is a maximum of 6 mm.
Pay attention to the particularly sharp cutting blade edge.
The mains cable must only be replaced by authorised and trained persons.
It is strictly prohibited to clean the slicing machine with products that can damage the health of the
operator or the customer. Use only products with an acidity of PH 7 8 when cleaning.
9. STORAGE AND TRANSPORT
Keep all original parts and pieces for an eventual sending back of the scale in order to avoid any
possible damage during transport which automatically leads to no warranty.
10. DISPOSAL
Waste electrical equi ment do not belong in household waste. Devices
with this marking may not be dis osed of as residual waste, but must be
recycled.
11. WARRANTY
ADE will repair or replace this product if it has failed within 2 years from the date of purchase (proof
of purchase is required) due to lack of workmanship or defective material.
All moving parts, such as blades, grinders, food carriages, etc., are excluded from this warranty.
