equipment with a SFP Multi-source
Agreement (MSA) compliant SFP
cage to be supported over a GPON
network. The SFP ONT includes an SGMII interface to the
network element, as well as a SC/APC optical connector that
complies with ITU-T G.984.5.
The following features are supported on the SFP ONT:

INSTALLATION
Inspect the SFP ONT. If damaged, file a claim with the carrier and
then contact ADTRAN Customer Care.
Installation Guidelines
The following are guidelines for this installation.
■The latch on the SFP ONT is for removal only. When removing
the SFP ONT, rotate the latch away from the SFP ONT cage
until a physical click occurs. The SFP ONT should slide easily
out of the cage.
■Ensure that the connector plug remains on whenever the
transceiver optical fiber connector is not inserted.
Installation Steps
To install the SFP ONT into a NetVanta, complete the following
steps:
1. Insert the SFP ONT into the appropriate NetVanta SFP cage
with the latch handle facing outward. Slide the SFP ONT all
the way into the SFP cage.
2. Using thumb and forefinger, exert adequate pressure to
ensure the SFP ONT is completely seated in the SFP cage.
3. Do not remove the connector plug until the optical fiber
connection is made.
4. Continue the installation and turn-up of the NetVanta unit
using the information provided with the unit.
PROVISIONING
The SFP ONT is provisioned via OMCI from the host GPON OLT.
MAINTENANCE
The SFP ONT does not require routine hardware maintenance for
normal operation. ADTRAN does not recommend that repairs be
attempted in the field. Repair services may be obtained by
returning the defective unit to ADTRAN. Refer to the warranty
for further information. Field support for software is provided
through upgrade facilities.
