SECTION 1: SAFETY INFORMATION
For safe installation of this equipment, read and understand all dangers, warnings, and cautionary information. Save this safety
information in a readily accessible location. Look for the following warnings throughout the manual:
Red and White “DANGER” means: If you do not follow the instructions, severe injury or death will occur.
Orange and Black “WARNING” means: If you do not follow the instructions, severe injury or death can occur.
Yellow and Black “CAUTION” means: If you do not follow the instructions, damage can occur to the dispenser.
Blue and White “IMPORTANT” means: helpful tips and other recommendations on equipment installation, usage, and
maintenance should be observed.

DISCONNECT ALL POWER, RELIEVE PRESSURE TO THIS EQUIPMENT, AND ASSOCIATED COMPRESSOR DURING
INSTALLATION, SERVICE, OR ANY MAINTENANCE I.E., CHANGING FILTERS.
WARNING ADVERTENCIA MISE EN GARDE
You must have training in the installation, service, or maintenance of this equipment (dispenser, pump, console, control box,
or submerged pump) before working on it. Maintenance repairs must be done by authorized personnel only. Warranty work
may only be performed by Bennett certified technicians.
There must be a message near the dispensers that says, “Natural Gas Vehicle Fuel Cylinders shall be periodically inspected
(normally every 3 years) to ensure safe operation of the vehicle or cylinder manufacture.”
To prevent electric shock, keep the electrical parts of the dispenser dry.
Electronic components are static sensitive. Use only proper static precautions (e.g. static straps) before working on the
equipment.
The shut-off ball vale for the incoming CNG Line must be closed when service or maintenance is performed on this
equipment.
Vehicle engine must be turned off while dispensing product.
No ignition source can be within 10-feet of the dispenser.
A portable fire extinguisher with a rating of no less than 20-B.C. must be provided in the dispensing area.
You must have training in the operation and programming of this dispenser before using it. READ THE OPERATORS MANUAL.
Make sure this equipment is correctly grounded. Failure to do will cause injury or damage equipment or improper operation.
Improper grounding voids the warranty.
When anchoring the dispenser, always level the dispenser with shims before bolting to the island. DO NOT shim the middle
of base rails to bolt down the dispenser.
If the breakaway is not provided then one must be installed that will disengage at 150lbs.

GENERAL INFORMATION
CAUTION: Pressure at the dispenser must not exceed 4250 psi (293 bar)
CAUTION: It is REQUIRED that the pressure regulator is installed at the dispenser if there is no other device to limit
pressure at the dispenser.
Read this manual carefully and read all tags/labels attached to the CNG dispenser or pump before starting any maintenance and/or
service. A dispenser or pump that is not properly maintained will not perform properly and will void the Bennett Limited Warranty.
Before installation, operation, maintenance and/or service ensure that protection against lighting strikes are in accordance with the
American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice RP 2003, Protection Against Ignitions Arising out of Static, Lightening, and Stray
Currents.
HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS
Classified areas are used to describe the fire or explosion hazards present in a specific area. For safe operation, ensure that the dispenser
is in a classified area as detailed below per NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code and NFPA 70, National Electric Code. For
further information on the classification of locations for Fuel Dispensers, see NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code.

DISPENSER OVERVIEW & CONTROL DEVICES
The following section provides a description of the controls and instrumentation used on a CNG Spec 100 Dispenser. Note: Not all
dispenser options are shown in Figure 2.1 below.

DOOR KEY LOCKS
The Key Locks for the electronic door are located on the left side of the door as shown in Figure 2.1. The Key Locks for the lower door of
the CNG Series are located on the top side of the door.
1. To lock the electronic door, insert the key in one of the locks and turn clockwise until it stops.
2. Repeat this step for the lower lock on the electronic door.
3. To lock the lower door, turn the key clockwise until it stops in one of the locks.
4. Repeat this step for the other lock.
5. To unlock either door, turn the key counterclockwise until it stops.
NOZZLE BOOT & LOCK
The nozzle boot is located on the side of the dispenser as shown in Figure 2.1. Note: The CNG nozzle lever locks through the nozzle hook.
A lock can be used to lock out the dispenser even though nozzle can be removed from the boot. The nozzle boot switch will not activate
the dispenser. The lock can be is inserted through the nozzle hook and lever.
To operate the dispenser, follow this procedure:
1. Remove the nozzle from the holder. Note: A lift lever will need to be lifted up.
2. Once the lift lever is lifted, a switch tells the CPU Board that the nozzle is removed from the holder.
7” LARGE DISPLAY –ADVANCED TRAINING
A 10.4” large display is used to view guided instructions during a fill and to process payments. Power is provided to the display through the
SBC2 board. Refer to the SSP Large Display w/ SBC2 Programming, Service, and Parts Manual (P/N 132544) for additional information.

Once the module installed, programmed, and configured properly by the POS. The module will be ready for use.
1. Training instructions will be shown on the card reader display before and/during the fueling
process. The idle screen shown in Figure 2.2is an example of how of the module prompts the
user with guided instructions. Note: The display is controlled by the POS. Refer to Addendum
A for training image sequence diagram.
2. Follow the prompts on the display and connue the fueling process. Use the le/right so
keys to select an option corresponding to a left (<) or right arrow (>) shown on the display.
Note: The user must make a secon to connue the fueling process. If a selecon is not made,
the screen will meout and return to the start screen.
3. Press <CANCEL> to stop fueling and to end the guided training.
SSP (SIMPLY SECURE PAYMENT) OPTIONAL
The SSP option allows the customer to pay for fuel with a credit card or debit card and receive a receipt. The dispenser is connected to a
financial network through a POS system to allow approval of the cards at the time they are inserted into the dispenser. Refer to the
Simply Secure Payment PCI 3.1 (Large Display w/ SBC2) Programming, Service, and Parts Manual for more information.
MANAGER’S KEYPAD
The Manager’s Keypad allows the customer or operator the ability to access dispenser totals, pricing information,
diagnostic information, and programming. This keypad is shipped with each dispenser located in the electronics
head, and is normally disconnected from the system during normal use. Refer to the operation section for a
complete description of the keypad functions for programming the dispenser and the service.
EXTERNAL +12 VDC BATTERY
An external +12 VDC lead acid backup battery is used to recall data during power outage or when pump power is
off. When the main power is on the battery, the charging circuit provides +13.8 VDC to charge the battery. When
the battery is “on” the battery supplies 12.6 VDC for the system. Note: Prior to powering up the dispenser the
battery must be connected.

POWER SWITCH & BATTERY KILL BUTTON
WARNING: To prevent electric shock, make sure the current is off at the circuit breaker(s) and the breaker is locked out
before doing any repairs or maintenance to the dispenser.
DANGER: INCOMING AC POWER AT TS2 WILL REMAIN ACTIVE IF THE MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER(S) ARE NOT TURNED OFF.
The Power Switch is located on the bottom of power supply board, which is accessed on side 1 of the dispenser.
When the switch is in the off position, main power is removed from the electronic circuit boards. Service can be
performed only on the circuit boards with the switch in the off position and the battery disconnected. To totally
disconnect power from the dispenser remove the terminal strips from the dispenser or turn off the main breakers.
NOTE: When the power switch is turned off, the displays in the dispenser remain illuminated for 30
seconds with power from the 12-volt battery. To turn off the battery power press the battery
disconnect switch.
A Battery Kill push button is used to kill the battery backup if necessary. It is located on the top of the power supply
board. This button can be used to override the 30-second battery if primary power is lost at the dispenser, or if
incoming power drops below 74 volts AC. This button stays in the up position by a spring. To “kill” power to the
dispenser press down quickly and release. Once the switch is closed, and the display goes blank, release the switch.
ERROR MESSAGES
Error messages may appear on the main display when there is a fault condition in the dispenser.
Use the dispenser diagnostics to determine the problem. Refer to the Diagnostics section for
more information and a list of error codes.
NOTE: When an error message appears, the dispenser can be reset by turning
any pump handle on and back off. Refer to the Diagnostics section
for complete instructions for using the keypad to read error codes.
AC OFF MESSAGE
The AC OFF message occurs whenever the power has been interrupted or turned off to the
dispenser. If the power is turned off and the AC OFF message does not appear, the charge is low
on the 12-volt battery. Recharge or replace the battery. Note: Failure to replace the battery
could result in loss of dispenser electronic totals and stand-alone operating data.
POWER FAILURE (LAST SALE RECALL)
If an AC power failure occurs, the dispenser will display the last sale in progress at the time of
the failure. Note: The dispenser valves close and fueling is stopped. The main display will
alternate between the last sale amount and volume as shown in Figure 2.7 and the AC OFF
message as shown in Figure 2.7 for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the display will go blank until
normal power returns. If power is returned, the display will return to its idle state.
TOTAL SWITCH
The totals switch is a magnetic reed switch. The switch is located directly behind the mass units screen on the main display area as shown
in Figure 2.8. Note: If a pump handle is turned on during this operation, the display returns to idle.
To enter the Totals Mode, follow this procedure:
1. Hold the black Access Magnet over the mass units GGE print beside the Main Display. Refer
Figure 2.9 for location. This will display all Mode 1, Mode 2, and Mode 26 shift totals.
2. Once the totals mode is entered, the next totals are displayed by tapping the magnet over
the mass units GGE print beside the main display. By successively tapping over the mass
units GGE print, all totals can be displayed.
3. If the magnet is not tapped over the mass units GGE print for 30 seconds, the display will
return to its idle state. Refer to Menu Codes 1 and 26 for more information.

SECTION 3: OPERATION
The explanations given in the menus listed in this section are intended for use by the operator, manager, or service technician.
HOW TO DISPENSE CNG FUEL
NOTE: If the dispenser stops during the delivery of fuel, check the display for an error code. If one is present, refer
Diagnostics section.
NOTE: Be sure the pump is authorized by the console or is in stand-alone mode.
NOTE: DO NOT press the Emergency Stop button to stop a fill. The customer can select the [CANCEL] button on the display
to stop a sale.
TO DISPENSE CNG FUEL, FOLLOW THIS P ROCEDURE:
1. The card reader display shown in Figure 3.1 will ask if the customer has been trained
to use the equipment. Note: Training instructions will be shown on the card reader
display before and/during the fueling process.
a. Press <OK> and follow the prompts on the display and connue the fueling process.
Use the le/right so keys to select an option corresponding to a left (<) or right
arrow (>) shown on the display. Note: The user must make a secon to connue
the fueling process. If a selecon is not made, the screen will meout and return
to the start screen.
b. Press <CANCEL> to stop fueling and to end the guided training.
2. Remove the nozzle from the holder and attach it to the fill adaptor on the vehicle’s
tank.
3. The SALE$display and card reader display will reset with 8s and 0s.
4. Once reset is complete, the dispenser will begin to fill the vehicle’s tank.
5. Once the tank is full, the dispenser will tell the customer to hang up the nozzle.
6. At this time, the customer will remove the nozzle from the vehicle and hang it up in
the nozzle boot, ending the transaction.
HOW TO READ THE ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TOTALIZER
NOTE: Because of rounding methods used and the nature of electronic totals versus an analog device such as an electro-
mechanical totalizer, electronic totals and electro-mechanical totals will rarely match exactly.
The dispenser is equipped with an electro-mechanical totalizer for each meter that records the
mass dispensed for each sale as shown in Figure 3.2. The mass recorded is an accumulative
total that cannot be reset. The electro-mechanical totalizers are located below the product
select buttons on the dispenser. The total is cumulative and reads in whole unit in Gasoline
Gallon Equivalents (GGE) increments.
Mode 2 totals can be programmed to match the electro-mechanical totalizers, and will
continue to track exactly until a cold start occurs.
CONNECTING A MANAGER’S KEYPAD FOR DISPENSER PROGRAMMING
NOTE: All nozzles must be hung up in their boots prior to programming. If any nozzle from either side of the dispenser is
lifted, access to Menu Code will be restricted.
NOTE: The electrical enclosure must stay pressurized at all times. Once the door is opened, a pressure switch will force the
power to be removed from the electronics, leaving it impossible to program with the door opened. As soon as the
keypad is plugged into the product select/auxiliary backlight board, the door must be closed immediately. Make sure
that the manager’s keypad is draped over the door and accessible from outside the dispenser when closing and
locking the door.
Programming is done from the manager’s keypad located inside the electronics compartment behind the side 1 electronics door. Note:
The keypad must be plugged into Side 1 of the Dispenser.

TO ENABLE THE DISPEN SER FOR PROGRAMMING, FOLLOW THI S PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the keyboard from the zip plastic bag located on the inside of the electronic enclosure.
2. Locate the J4 connector on the (blue) product select/auxiliary backlight board, which is located
on the backside of side 1 electronic door. The plug connector (J4 Connector) is located on the
right side of the product select/auxiliary backlight board.
3. Plug the manager’s keyboard into the product select/auxiliary backlight board connector
observing the plug polarity. When the Manager’s Keypad is properly connected, the dispenser
will automatically enter the managers programming mode. The dispenser’s display will read Enter
side 1.
4. Press the Enter button to enter Manager’s Mode. Programming can now be started and each
menu code can be programmed individually.
5. Buttons 0through 9 on the manager’s keypad shown in Figure 18 are used to select the desired
menu code option. Press the [MODE] button on the keypad to enter a code. Note: Refer to the
Programming section for more information.
6. When the programming session is complete, remove the keypad from the connector, and
return the keypad to the bag for future programming sessions. When the Manager’s Keypad is
removed from the receptacle, the dispenser will automatically enter the operating mode.
MENU CODE 1 –HOW TO READ ELECTRONIC TOTALS
Menu Code 1 allows the manager to read the electronic non-resettable hose totals that accumulate in the dispenser for money, mass,
number of sales, and number of price changes. Note: For instructions on operator / attendant access to electronic totals, see How to
Read Electronic Totals with the Magnetic Reed Switch.
Press the Up-Arrow (↑) to move through product x totals (money, mass, sale/price counters)
Press ENTER to move from product x to product y.
TO READ THE MONEY TO TALS ON THE DISPENSER, FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE:
1. Press the number 1button and then the [MODE] button on the Manager’s Keypad. The
main display shows the total money amount. For example, if the total money amount
for the dispenser is $1,234,567.89 as shown in Figure 3.4. The PPM display reads P1 1.1
for Product 1, Money Total, and Menu Code 1.
2. Press the [ENTER] button to read the money totals for the second product if
applicable. The PPM display reads P2 1.1 for Product 2, Money Total, and Menu Code
1.
Pressing the Up-Arrow (↑) button moves to viewing the product 1 volume total
(e.g. P12.1).
Pressing the Up-Arrow (↑) button also moves to viewing the sales counters
(e.g. P13.1).
Pressing the [ENTER] button at any time, switches to the same total for product
2 (e.g. P21.1, P22.1, and P23.1).
3. Press the [CANCEL] button to exit this menu.
TO READ THE MASS TOT ALS ON THE DISPENSER , FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE:
1. Press the Up-Arrow (↑) button.The money and mass displays indicates mass totals.
For example, see Figure 3.5 if the total mass amount for the dispenser is 234,567.890
gallons. These totals are accumulative and cannot be changed. The dispenser can
carry the mass amount to three decimal places for gallons and two decimal places for
liters.
2. Press the [ENTER] button on the keypad to view remaining hose positions.
Pressing the Up-Arrow (↑) button moves to return to money totals.
Pressing the Up-Arrow (↑) button also moves to viewing the sales counters
(e.g. P13.1).
Press the Enter button at any times, switches to the same total for product 2
(e.g. P21.1, P22.1, P23.1).
3. Press the [CANCEL] button to exit this menu.

TO READ THE TOTAL NUMBER OF SALES AND TO TAL NUMBER OF PRICE CHANGES, FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE:
1. Press the Up-Arrow (↑) button. The PPV display indicates Product 1 counter totals.
The ‘Total Sale’ display shows the number of sales for Product 1. The sales counter is
incremented each time a sale is ran on that nozzle. The ‘Volume’ display shows the
number of price changes for Product 1. The price change counter is incremented each
time a price is changed for that nozzle. Refer to Figure 3.6.
2. To read the counter totals for the remaining hoses, press the [ENTER] button to cycle
through the counter (money, mass, counter) totals for the remaining hoses or select
1for money total, 2for mass totals, or 3for counters number buttons.
3. Press the [CANCEL] button to exit this menu.
HOW TO READ ELECTRONIC TOTALS WITH THE MAGNETIC REED SWITCH
The operator and/or attendant can use this method to read daily or weekly electronic totals without opening the electronic head of the
dispenser.
TO READ THE MENU CODE 1 TOTALS WITH THE MAGNETIC REED SWITCH, FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE:
1. To enter the totals mode, hold the black Access Magnet over the left side of the mass display
print beside the main display as shown in Figure 3.7. When the first Money totals appear,
remove the magnet. The display appears as in Figure 3.4 with P11.1 showing in the PPM window
to indicate the first Money total for Product 1.
NOTE: If the magnet is not tapped over the mass display print for 30 seconds, the
display returns to the idle screen and the sequence must be started over.
2. Tap the magnet over the mass display print again to read the Mass Totals for Product 1. P12.1
is displayed in the PPM display to indicate the first Mass Total for Product 1 as shown in Figure
3.5.
3. Tap the magnet over the mass display print again to read the Counters Totals, which is the
Number of Sales and Number of Price Changes for Product 1. P13.1 is displayed in the PPM
display to indicate the first Counter Totals for Product 1 as shown in Figure 3-6.
NOTE: If Menu Code 2 totals are being read or the re-settable meter totals,
continue with Step 5. If not, wait 30-seconds for the displays to return
to the idle mode, or lift a pump handle to the ON position to return to
the idle mode.
4. Tap the magnet over the mass display print again and the Money Totals for Product 2
appear. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the Product 2 totals and the remaining hoses on this
side of the dispenser.
5. If all Menu Code 1 totals have been displayed, tap the magnet over the mass display
print again as shown in Figure 3.7 to view the Menu Code 2 (Meter Totals) for Product
1. Note: By successively tapping the magnet over the mass display, print the dispenser
moves through the Meter Totals for each hose.
6. If all Menu Code 2 totals have been displayed, tap the magnet over the mass display
print again to view Menu Code 26 (Resettable Meter Totals) for Product 1 as shown in
Figure 3.8.
NOTE: These totals can be matched up in Menu Code 5 for the Electro-
Mechanical Totals.
7. Press the [CANCEL] button to exit this menu.

MENU CODE 2- HOW TO READ ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TOTALS
Menu Code 2 allows the operator and/or manager read the Electronic Mechanical Totals. If the operator or manager did not enter a
different value in Menu Code 5, this total should be the same as the dispenser electro-mechanical totalizers.
TO READ THE ELECTRONIC TOTALIZER TOTALS , FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE:
1. Press the 2button and then the [MODE] button on the keypad.
a. The main display shows the electro-mechanical total as shown in Figure 3.9.
b. The total number is carried to three decimal places.
c. The PPM display reads T1.2 for Product 1 Electro-Mechanical Totalizer,
Menu Code 2.
2. To read the totals for the remaining meters, press the [ENTER] button. Note: See

The dispenser has a variety of Menu Codes that are accessed by using the Manager’s Keypad. Menu Codes 0, 1, and 2 are accessed by the
attendant or the manager to read diagnostic error codes or totals. The remaining menu codes are used by first entering an access code in
Menu Code 3 that can be found on page 15 of this manual. Without the correct access code, the remaining Menu Codes are hidden.

SUGGESTED SETUP SEQUENCE
To program the dispenser’s memory for the first time or following a RAM memory clear follow the menu codes in order as they are listed
in the Initial Setup sequence below. Each menu code can be programmed individually. However, in order for the dispenser to operate
properly, the initial setup programming sequence must be followed. If not, the dispenser may not operate properly because of default
settings or no data programmed. Make sure the initial setup of the menu codes are programmed before testing any dispenser
operations. Failure to do so may lead to difficulty getting the dispenser to operate properly. See Initial Setup Sequence below. Note: The
