PCI SSC’s approval only applies to PEDs that are identical to the PED tested by a PCI Security Standards Council
recognized laboratory. If any aspect of the PED is different from that which was tested by the laboratory - even if the
PED conforms to the basic product description contained the letter, then the PED model should not be considered
approved, nor promoted as approved. For example, if a PED contains firmware, software, or physical construction that
has the same name or model number as those tested by the laboratory, but in fact are not identical to those PED
samples tested by the laboratory, then the PED should not be considered or promoted as approved.

Safety Instructions
For safe installation of this equipment, read and understand all dangers, warnings, and cautionary information. Save
this safety information in a readily accessible location. Look for the following warnings throughout the manual:
Red and White “DANGER” means: If you do not follow the instructions, severe injury or death will occur.
Orange and Black “WARNING” means: If you do not follow the instructions, severe injury or death can occur.
Yellow and Black “CAUTION” means: If you do not follow the instructions, damage can occur to the dispenser.
Blue and White “IMPORTANT” means: helpful tips and other recommendations on equipment installation,
usage, and maintenance should be observed.
DANGER PELIGRO DANGER
FIRE, EXPLOSION, INJURY, OR DEATH WILL OCCUR IF FUEL FILTERS ARE CHANGED BY
UNTRAINED PERSONNEL. MAKE SURE, ONLY TRAINED PERSONNEL CHANGE FILTERS.
TO PREVENT INJURY TO YOU FROM VEHICLES AND ONLOOKERS, ALWAYS PLACE A
BARRIER AROUND THIS EQUIPMENT BEFORE PERFORMING SERVICE OR MAINTENANCE.
CNG IS FLAMMABLE. NO SMOKING OR OPEN FLAME.
DISCONNECT ALL POWER AND RELIEVE PRESSURE TO THIS EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED
COMPRESSOR DURING INSTALLATION, SERVICE, OR ANY MAINTENANCE I.E., CHANGING
FILTERS.
WARNING ADVERTENCIA MISE EN GARDE
You must have training in the installation, service, or maintenance of this equipment (dispenser,
pump, console, or control box) before working on it. Maintenance repairs must be done by
authorized personnel only.
There must be a message near the dispensers that says, “Natural Gas Vehicle Fuel Cylinders shall
be periodically inspected (normally every 3 years) to ensure safe operation of the vehicle. Contact
vehicle or cylinder manufacture.”
To prevent electric shock, keep the electrical parts of the dispenser dry.
Electronic components are static sensitive. Use proper static precautions (static straps) before
working on the equipment.
The shut-off ball valve for the incoming CNG Line must be closed when service or maintenance is
performed on this equipment.
Vehicle engine must be turned off while dispensing product.
No ignition source can be within 10 feet of the dispenser.
A portable fire extinguisher with a rating of no less than 20-B:C must be provided in the
dispensing area.
You must have training in the operation and programming of this dispenser before using it. READ
THE OPERATORS MANUAL.
Make sure this equipment is correctly grounded. Failure to do will cause injury or damage
equipment or improper operation. Improper grounding voids the warranty.
When anchoring the dispenser, always level the dispenser with shims before bolting to the island.
DO NOT shim the middle of base rails to bolt down the dispenser.
If the breakaway is not provided then one must be installed that will disengage at 150lbs.

Do not drill holes in fuel dispensers. Holes can cause failure of the electronic equipment. THE
WARRANTY WILL BECOME VOID. Use only adhesive backed sign mounting brackets.

Hazardous Locations
Classified areas are used to describe the fire or explosion hazards present in a specific area.
For safe operation, ensure that the dispenser is in a classified area as detailed below per NFPA 52, Vehicular Natural
Gas Fuel Systems Code and NFPA 70, National Electric Code.
For further information on the classification of locations for CNG Dispensers, see NFPA 30, Flammable and
Combustible Liquids Code and NFPA 52, Vehicular Natural Gas Fuel Systems Code.

Introduction
This manual contains installation instructions for installing the CNG Series dispenser. Included are mechanical,
transporting, wiring, and start-up instructions. For any additional installation information on ground storage modules,
shear valves, hoses, breakaways, and the Bulk Compressed Natural Gas System. Please refer to the manufacturer’s
installation instructions for proper installation.

Determining the Model Number and Dispenser Features
Determine the model number of the dispenser from the serial plate located on the front bottom rail. Utilizing the chart
shown in Figure 4 determine the features of the dispenser to be installed. Understanding the features of the dispenser
to be installed will be helpful in understanding the proper installation of the dispenser.

General Installation Information
CAUTION: Pressure at the dispenser must not exceed 4250 psi (293 bar).
Note: It is REQUIRED that a pressure regulator is installed at the dispenser if there is no other device to limit
pressure at the dispenser.
Examine the shipment immediately upon arrival to make certain there has been no damage or loss in transit. Bennett
Pump Company, as shipper, is not liable for the hazards of transportation. Please make damage claims directly to the
truck line.
Examine the dispenser’s cabinet and chassis for any loose or missing fasteners that may have become loose during
transit.
Examine all fittings in the dispenser’s hydraulics for any loose connections that may have become loose during transit.
Installation of the Bennett product and all accessories (i.e. Nozzles, Hoses, and Breakaways) must be performed by a
technician who is trained and licensed in accordance to all codes, standards, and regulations.
Read these instructions carefully and read all tags attached to the dispenser before starting installation. A dispenser
that is not properly installed will not perform properly and will void the limited warranty.
Container Storage Requirements
DANGER: STORAGE AREA TEMPERATURES SHOULD NOT EXCEED 125°F (52°C).
All installation specifications may vary from different locations. CNG may be stored in containers (cylinders or
pressure vessels) that are designed, manufactured, and used in accordance with all National Electrical Codes, State,
and Local Codes. U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) or Transport Canada (TC) regulations, exemptions, or
special permits, U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, 49 CFR 571.304, Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Container
Integrity specifications for the pressures and temperatures involved.
All installations must be performed by a technician who is trained and licensed in accordance to all codes, standards,
and regulations.
Underground Installation Requirements

all National Electrical Codes, State, and Local Codes.
All installations must be performed by a technician who is trained and licensed in accordance to all codes, standards,
and regulations.
Installation of the Bennett product and all accessories (i.e. Nozzles, Hoses, and Breakaways) must be performed by a
technician who is trained and licensed in accordance to all codes, standards, and regulations.
Pipelines and Containment Sumps
Note: U.L. requires that all electrical connections to the dispenser be made with threaded, rigid conduit and
properly sealed conductors. All dispensers and electrical connection boxes must be grounded per NFPA 70.
It is extremely important to ensure that all wiring and conduits are in accordance with all local, state and federal
regulations, including, but not limited to, the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), NFPA 30, NFPA 30A and NFPA 52.
The use of a UL approved containment sump designed for the Bennett CNG dispenser is recommended. Follow the
containment sump manufacturer’s intsallation instructions for proper installation. The dispenser must be mounted on
a concreate foundatation. Do not pour concrete around the product pipes.

Underground piping must be buried no less than 18 inches below the surface of the ground unless otherwise
protected from damage by movement of the ground.
For optimal performance of the Bennett CNG dispenser ensure that all gas piping installations are in accordance with
all local, state, federal, national codes and regulations.
To maximize the gas flow rate recommend ensure that all piping runs between the source of gas and the dispenser
are minimal.
How to Lift and Transport the CNG Series
There are eyebolts included in the unit that need to be installed for transportation. To transport the dispenser remove
the bolts and install the eyebolts. Once transport is complete, re-install the bolts. Refer to Figure 5.
Mechanical Installation Requirements
Note: Foundations used for supporting dispensers must be designed and constructed to prevent frost heaving.
The dispenser must be mounted on a concrete foundation or and at least 10 ft. (3 m) from any building opening.
Follow the procedure below for mounting instructions:
1. Anchor the dispenser to the concrete foundation with a minimum four anchor bolts and a minimum diameter of
½-inch through the base frame. Note: When anchoring the dispenser, always level the dispenser with metal
shims before bolting to the island.
2. Do not shim the middle of base rails to bolt down the dispenser. Shim only near bolts. NOTE: THE DISPENSER
MUST BE BOLTED TO THE FOUNDATION. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP 1.

Installing Breakaways, Hoses, and Nozzles

CAUTION: Perform all preventative and schedule maintenance checks as recommended by the original

Breakaway devices must be in accordance with ANSI/IAS NGV 4.4, Breakaway Devices for Natural Gas
Dispensing Hoses and Systems.
Hoses must be in accordance with ANSI/IAS NGV 4.2 CSA 12.52, Hoses for Natural Gas Vehicles and Fuel
Dispensers.
Nozzles must be in accordance with ANSI/AGA/CGA NGV 1, Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Fueling
Connection Devices.
Installation Procedure
Follow all installation and operating instructions provided by the original manufacturer with all products. Note:
Ensure that the threads on all fittings are clean of foreign debris, such as oil, grease, and shavings. All connections
must be tight to prevent leaks. Note: Nozzles and Fueling Hoses must be properly grounded.
1. Install the listed Whip Hose per manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Install the listed breakaways per manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Install the hose to the breakaway.
4. Install the swivel (if used) to the hose.
Follow the swivel manufacturer’s
instructions.
5. Install the nozzle to the swivel or the
hose. Follow the manufacturer’s
instructions.
6. After installation, test the unit for leaks
and check for continuity from the end
of the nozzle to the conductive metal
surface in the unit using an ohm meter.
