1Safety
1.1 About these instructions
This chapter contains general safety instructions which must be
observed when operating the function module FM443/CMS 910.
Also closely observe the further safety instructions that you will find
in other chapters of these operating instructions. Carefully read the
safety instructions before commencing the work described below.
If safety instructions are ignored, severe or even fatal injuries may
result, as well as material losses and environmental damage.
1.2 Determined use
You can integrate the function module FM443/CMS 910 into the
control units of the CFB 810, CFB 840, CFB 910, CFB 930,
CSM 710, CSM 750.
1.3 Standards and directives
The design and operation of this product conforms to the European
Directives and the supplementary national requirements. Its
conformity is demonstrated by the CE designation.

1.4 Explanation of the symbols used
Two levels of danger are identified and signalled by the following
terms:
WARNING!
RISK OF FATAL INJURY
Identifies possible risks associated with a product that might lead
to serious injury or even death if appropriate care is not taken.
CAUTION!
RISK OF INJURY/SYSTEM DAMAGE
Identifies potentially dangerous situations, which might lead to
medium or slight injuries or to material damage.
USER INFORMATION
User tips for the optimum utilisation and adjustment of the
appliance plus other useful information.

1.5 Observe this information
The FM443/CMS 910 function module was designed and built
according to the state of the art and the recognised safety-related
standards.
However, material losses resulting from inappropriate operation
cannot be completely prevented.
Before operating the FM443/CMS 910 function module, read these
operating instructions carefully.
1.6 Disposal
zElectronic components must not be disposed of with general
domestic waste.
Dispose of old modules correctly through an authorised
disposal site.

2 Product description
The function module FM443/CMS 910 is designed exclusively for
use in the control units.
With the FM443/CMS 910 function module, you can control a solar
thermal system with one or two solar consumers (e.g. cylinders).
You can use the following functions after installing the FM443/
CMS 910 function module:
– Change solar control operating mode
– Query operating values of the solar consumer "1" or "2", heat
meter and collector array
– Query yield values over recent days, weeks and years

2.1 Manual switch settings
The various positions of the manual switch have different effects
on the solar circuit or the two solar consumers.
2.1.1 Manual switch (solar circuit 1)

CAUTION!
DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM
Incorrect use of switch positions 0 and 3can damage the solar
thermal system, and may even destroy individual system
components.
zMake sure that the switch setting is always set to "AUT".
USER INFORMATION
Normally, the manual switch 3should be in the "AUT" position.
Positions 0 and 3are special settings reserved for qualified
personnel only.
Position Effect
Solar heating circuit 1 (solar circuit pump 1) and the
bypass (3-way diverter valve) are switched off.
Solar circuit 1 and bypass are in automatic mode –
this is the standard setting.
Manual mode is enabled.
Solar circuit pump 1 is switched on. The bypass is
not being controlled.

2.1.2 Manual switch (solar circuit selection)
Position Effect
Solar circuit selection is switched off.
The automatic mode of the function module FM443/
CMS 910 (Solar module) is active; this is the
standard setting.
When there is appropriate solar yield, only solar
consumer "2" (solar circuit 2) is heated.
Automatic changeover is disabled.
When there is appropriate solar yield, only solar
consumer "1" (solar circuit 1) is heated.
Automatic changeover is disabled.

USER INFORMATION
If the manual switch is not in automatic mode, a corresponding
message is displayed on the Programmer programming unit and
the LED "module fault" on the module illuminates.
Inform your heating engineer.

3.1 Operating mode - changing
You can change the solar control unit operating mode. The
operating modes are as follows:
– Manual ON ("Day mode" key)
– Manual OFF (“Night mode” key)
– Automatic operation ("AUT" key)
Open the cover of the Programmer programming unit.
Press and hold down "heating circuit".
Turn the rotary selector until "Heating circuit selection – solar"
appears in the display.
Release "Heating circuit".
USER INFORMATION
The collector protection is ensured with the "Manual ON"
operating mode ("Day mode" key").
USER INFORMATION
The heating circuit which the Programmer programming unit is
assigned to is basically always displayed when the cover of the
Programmer programming unit is closed. If the Programmer
programming unit is not assigned to a heating circuit, then the
lowest installed heating circuit is always displayed.
