SMART MATRIX QUILT - i -
Introduction
Congratulations for choosing a BTSR product.
With our SMART MATRIX QUILT yarn control system, you got an innovative, unique solution, which offers
you multiple advantages concerning the quality control of your production.
SMART MATRIX QUILT has been designed for applications on quilting machines, that must use a
determined number of yarns with controlled tension, during the stitching/quilting operations.
SMART MATRIX QUILT, combined with TS5/TS7 tension sensor, represents a complete and effective
machine control system.
The SMART MATRIX QUILT system has been developed by BTSR International S.p.A. to make easier and
optimize:
•The sensor programming,
•The system configuration,
•The production monitoring.
The system is capable of self-learning the yarn sequence used by the quilting machine during a sample
cycle (LEARN) and to indicate any type of error detected during the subsequent production cycles
(excessive or insufficient yarn tension).
The availability of a “User Friendly” graphic interface allows you to quickly and intuitively program all the
operating parameters of TS5/TS7 sensors; in addition, it provides a real time monitoring of sensors behavior
and production efficiency.
Manual Objectives
This manual has been written to provide the users of SMART MATRIX QUILT system with the essential
information required to:
•Correctly install and connect the various system components (SMART MATRIX terminal, SM-DIN
QUILT Boards, TS5/TS7 sensors, etc.).
•Configure the system according to the application needs and setup the various operation
parameters.
•Detect and interpret the error signaling and system efficiency data.
•Use the diagnostics maintenance and utility functions offered by the system (system component
test, firmware upgrading, etc.).

How to Use this Manual
The manual is subdivided into 3 sections:
Section 1 – includes the connection diagrams and the electrical interface of the various connectors.
Section 2 – provides the operating instructions for a correct use of the SMART MATRIX QUILT terminal
as well as the parameter configuration/programming instructions and data/errors display
facilities.
Section 3 – describes the main characteristics and performances of the various system components
(TS5/TS7 sensors, SM-DIN QUILT boards.). Furthermore, it provides some details to better
understand the operating principles upon which the SMART MATRIX QUILT system is
based (SLOW-FAST Control Parameters, menagement of PRXsignal, etc.).
Symbols Used
!This symbol is used to point-out notes, warnings and other important information.
TS5/TS7 Within this manual, the TS5/Dttt... or TS7/Dttt… sensors used for SMART MATRIX QUILT
application will be indicated with the generic wording TS5/TS7 or TS/xx
In the program function descriptions, this symbol indicates the function
(e.g. TS/xx IDENT.) within the menu item (e.g. SETUP).
SETUP →TS/xx IDENT.
