– Advancing speed. The tool automatically switches from a fast advancing speed of the blade
to a slow, high pressure cutting speed.
–Safety. The tool is provided with max pressure valve; MPC1 special manometer, is available
upon request to check the correct setting of the valve.
2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE (Ref. to Fig. 2)
2.1) Setting
– Select the appropriate die set. Two styles of die set are available:
Die Sets for cutting contact wire:
the die prole matches the prole of the contact wire.
Die Sets for cutting conductor:
the die prole matches the prole of the conductor.
2.2) Positioning
– Insert the die set into the head (see § 2.5).
– Position the conductor inside the die set so that the blade (15) lines up with the desired cut-
ting point.
– Close the die set (see Fig. 3) by moving the locking handle (49) towards the tool body, until
automatically‘locked’in position and securely clamping the wire/conductor (see Fig. 4).
– Operate the moveable handle (31) to advance the blade (15) to the conductor (see Fig. 5).

Beforeproceedingwiththecuttingoperation,ensurethatthelockingpin (16)is fullyinserted
in the head and the locking handle (49) is securely locked in position.
Check that the cutting edge of the blade coincides with the desired cutting point;
ifnotopenthedies,byreleasingthelockingHandle(49)andrepositioningthewire/conductor.
2.3) Cutting (Ref. to Fig. 5)
– Continue operating the handle, the blade (15) progressively advances, until the conductor is
completely cut in a clean and precise manner, without deforming the conductor.
Do not cut steel rods
2.4) Release of dies
– Press the pressure release lever (33) for the rapid retraction of the ram (13).
– By releasing the locking handle (49) the dies open and release the wire/conductor.
2.5) Inserting the die set (Ref. to Figs. 1, 2)
– Remove the locking pin (16) and insert the die set into
the top of the tool and position the ‘locator’ (A) in the
guide at the bottom of the head.
Ensure that the recess (B) on the front of the die set faces
the blade (15).
– Fully insert the locking pin (16) into the head.
The die set is polarised and can only be installed one
way, to allow the correct insertion of the locking pin
(16).
– To remove the die set from the head: open the locking
lever (49), completely remove the locking pin (16) and
slide the die set out of the tool.
2.6) Rest setting
After completion of the work, release the oil pressure as directed in paragraph 2.4.
3. WARNING
The tool is robust and requires very little daily maintenance.
Compliance with the following points, should help to maintain the optimum performance of
the tool.
3.1) Accurate cleaning
Dust, sand and dirt are a danger for any hydraulic device.
Every day, after use, the tool must be cleaned with a clean cloth, taking care to remove any
residual, especially close to pivots and moveable parts.

3.2) Storage
When not in use, the tool should be stored
and transported in the plastic case, to prevent
damage.
Plastic case (VAL P17): size 470x384x110 mm
(18.5x15.1x4.3 in.); weight 2 kg (4.4 lbs).
The case is suitable for storing the tool and
up to 4 die sets.
3.3) Head rotation
For ease of operation, the tool head can rotate through 180°.
Warning: Do not attempt to turn the head if the hydraulic circuit is pressurised.
4. MAINTENANCE
Air in the hydraulic circuit may aect the performance of the tool: slow advancement of the
cutting blade; cutting blade pulsating.
In this case proceed as follows:
4.1) To purge air bubbles from hydraulic circuit (Ref. to Fig. 6)
a– Hold tool upright in a vice with the moveable handle (31) open (Fig. 6).
b– Unscrew the main handle (03) from the body (12) to expose the rubber oil reservoir (02)
c– Remove reservoir cap (01).
d– Operate moveable handle (31) several times, in order to advance the ram (13).
e– Press the pressure release lever (33) to retract the ram (13), discharge oil pressure from the
circuit and return all oil to the reservoir.
f– Repeat points (d- e) ve times, to ensure all air bubbles in the hydraulic circuit are purged
into the reservoir.
g– If the oil level is low, top up as directed in paragraph 4.2.
h– Remove all air from reservoir and t cap (01).
i– Assemble main handle (03) to tool body.
If the tool continues to malfunction, return the tool for service/repair as detailed in § 5.

4.2) Oil top up
Every six months check the oil level in the reservoir. If necessary, top up the oil level to the top
lip of the reservoir and remove all air from the reservoir, see 4.1, points a, b, c, and e.
Finally, complete with operations hand i.
Ensure that disposal of used oil is in accordance with current legislation.
Always use clean recommended oil, see § 1.
Do not use old or recycled oil.
Do not use hydraulic brake uid.
4.3) Blade changing (Ref. to Fig. 7)
The blade may become worn or damaged through prolonged or improper use.
Replace the damaged blade as follow:
– Remove the die set from the tool (see § 2.5), operate the tool to advance the blade (15) until
the spring pin (14) in the ram (13) is accessible.
– Use a suitable drift to remove the spring pin (14) and release the blade (15).
– Note the orientation of the blade (15). Remove the blade and t the replacement. Fit the
spring pin (14) and release the oil pressure.
5. RETURN TO Cembre FOR OVERHAUL
In the case of a breakdown contact our Area Agent who will advise you on the problem and
give you the necessary instructions on how to dispatch the tool to our nearest service Centre; if
possible,attach a copy of theTest Certicate supplied by Cembre togetherwiththetoolor, if no
otherreferencesareavailable,indicatetheapproximatepurchasedateandthetoolserialnumber.

6. PARTS LIST (Ref. to Fig. 8)

g–Prima di richiudere il serbatoio si deve eliminare completamente l’aria.
Se il livello dell’olio fosse basso, eettuare un rabbocco come indicato al § 4.2.
h– Inserire il tappo (01).
i– Rimontare il manico sso (03). Nel caso eccezionale che l’utensile, anche dopo queste ope-
razioni di manutenzione, non funzionasse correttamente (il pistone non avanza o pulsa) è
consigliabilecontattareilpiùvicinoAgenteCembre perlasuacompletarevisione(vedi§5).
4.2) Rabbocco dell’olio
Il serbatoio dell’olio deve essere sempre pieno; ciò evita che si formino bolle d’aria al suo interno.
Consigliamo di vericare il livello dell’olio almeno ogni 6 mesi; se il livello fosse basso, procedere
al rabbocco eseguendo le operazioni descritte precedentemente in a,b,c ed e, quindi riempire
raso il serbatorio.
Completare con le operazioni h ed i.
In occasione di eventuali sostituzioni dell'olio, smaltire l'olio esausto attenendosi scru-
polosamente alla legislazione specica in materia.
Usare esclusivamente un tipo d’olio consigliato al § 1.
Mai usare olio rigenerato o usato.
È necessario che l’olio sia pulito.
4.3) Cambio della lama (Rif. a Fig. 7)
Può accadere che, per un uso prolungato o improprio, la lama si danneggi.
La sostituzione della lama danneggiata con la nuova é semplice:
– Azionarel'utensileprivodelgruppomatrici(vedi§2.5)efaravanzarelalama(15)noamettere
in vista la spina elastica (14) sul pistone (13).
– Con un attrezzo appuntito espellere la spina elastica (14) liberando così la lama (15).
– Toglierelavecchialamadall'appositasededelpistone,inserirvilanuovapolarizzatainmaniera
esatta bloccandola nuovamente con la spina elastica.
5. RESA ALLA Cembre PER REVISIONE
In caso di guasto contattare il nostro Agente di Zona il quale vi consiglierà in merito e fornirà
le istruzioni necessarie per l’invio dell'utensile alla nostra Sede; se possibile, allegare copia del
Certicato di Collaudo a suo tempo fornito dalla Cembre con l'utensile oppure, in mancanza
di altri riferimenti, indicare la data approssimativa di acquisto.

–Avance rapide: l'outil passe automatiquement de la vitesse rapide d'approche de la lame, à
la vitesse lente de coupe.
–Sécurité: l'outil est pourvu d'une valve de surpression.
Pour vérier le bon fonctionnement de cette valve, un manomètre spécial, notre réf. MPC1,
est disponible à la demande.
2. INSTRUCTIONS D'UTILISATION
2.1) Mise en service
Choisir le type de bloc-matrices adapté au conducteur (l de contact ou conducteur) à couper;
deux types de bloc-matrices sont prévus:
Pour la coupe des ls rainurés de contact:
le bloc-matrices a une forme qui reproduit le prol du l de contact à couper.
Pour la coupe de conducteurs:
le bloc-matrices est de dimensions adaptée au conducteur à couper.
2.2) Positionnement
– Introduire le bloc-matrices à l'intérieur de l'outil (voir § 2.5).
– Placer le conducteur à l'intérieur du bloc-matrices de façon à ce que la lame (15) se trouve au
niveau du point de coupe souhaité.
– Fermer les matrices (voir Fig. 3) en portant la poignée de blocage (49) vers le bas jusqu'à son
verrouillage; le conducteur est alors positionné pour la coupe (voir Fig. 4).

3. AVVERTENZE
L’utensileèrobustoenonrichiedeattenzioniparticolari;perottenereun correttofunzionamento
basterà osservare alcune semplici precauzioni:
3.1) Accurata pulizia
Tenerepresentechela polvere,la sabbiae losporcorappresentanoun pericoloper ogniapparec-
chiatura oleodinamica. Dopo ogni giorno d’uso si deve ripulire l’utensile con uno straccio pulito,
avendo cura di eliminare lo sporco depositatosi su di esso, specialmente vicino alle parti mobili.
3.2) Custodia
Per proteggere l’utensile da urti accidentali e
dallapolvere,quandononvieneutilizzato,èbene
custodirlo nell’apposita valigetta in materiale
plastico accuratamente chiusa.
Questa valigetta (tipo VAL P17) ha dimensioni
470x384x110 mm (18.5x15.1x4.3 in.); e pesa 2
kg (4.4 lbs); può contenere la testa e no a 4
gruppi di matrici.
3.3) Rotazione della testa
La testa dell’utensile può ruotare di 180° rispetto al corpo, permettendo così all’operatore di
eseguire il lavoro nella posizione più agevole.
Attenzione: non forzare la testa tentando di ruotarla quando l’utensile è in pressione.
4. MANUTENZIONE
Eventuali bolle d’aria presenti nel circuito dell’olio potrebbero pregiudicare il corretto funziona-
mento dell’utensile.Tale situazione si manifesta con un comportamento anomalo dell’utensile:
pompando, il pistone non avanza oppure si muove molto lentamente oppure pulsa. In questo
caso bisognerà agire nel modo seguente:
4.1) Per espellere le bolle d’aria (Rif. a Fig. 6)
a– Capovolgere l’utensile e bloccarlo in una morsa in posizione verticale (Fig. 6) con il manico
mobile (31) divaricato.
b– Svitare dal corpo pompante (12) il manico sso (03) e slarlo completamente, mettendo in
vista il serbatoio di gomma (02) dell’olio.
c– Estrarre il tappo (01) del serbatoio dell’olio.
d– Azionare tre o quattro volte il manico mobile (31), facendo avanzare il pistone (13).
e– Rilasciare la pressione dell’olio tramite la leva (33), no a che il pistone (13) non sia arretrato
completamente ed in modo che l’olio sia ritornato tutto nel serbatoio.
f– Ripetere le operazioni (d -e) almeno 5 volte in modo che le bolle d’aria, eventualmente
presenti nel cirtuito oleodinamico, vengano espulse e si raccolgano nel serbatoio dell’olio.

– Actionner le bras mobile (31) de façon continue, on approchera la lame (15) du conducteur
(voir Fig. 5).
Avant de procéder à l'opération de coupe, veiller à ce que l'axe (16) soit engagé à fond et que
la poignée de blocage (49) soit parfaitement verrouillée.
S'assurer que la lame se trouve au niveau du point de coupe souhaité; si ce n'est pas le cas,
rouvrir les matrices en agissant sur la poignée de blocage et remettre en place le conducteur.
2.3) Coupe (Voir Fig. 5)
– Continueràactionner l'outil;lalame (15)avanceraprogressivementjusqu'àlacoupecomplète
duconducteurquiseraeectuéedefaçonnetteetprécisesansaucunedéformationdecelui-ci.

2.4) Réouverture du bloc-matrices
– Appuyer sur le levier (33), situé sur le corps de l’outil, jusqu’à ce que la lame soit complètement
rétractée.
– Débloquer la poignée (49); les matrices s'ouvrent et le conducteur est libéré.
2.5) Introduction du bloc-matrices (Voir Fig. 1 et 2)
– Extraire l'axe (16) et introduire le bloc-matrices à l'inté-
rieur de l'outil par le haut de façon à ce que les guides
(A) se place dans la gorge du fond de la tête et que les
dégagements(B)surledevantdes matricessoittournés
vers la lame (15).
– Introduire l'axe (16) à fond jusqu'à la butée.
Le positionnement du bloc-matrices à l'intérieur de
l'outil est "dêtrompé"; la mise en place de l'axe (16)
ne sera possible que s'il est introduit correctement.
– Pour enlever le bloc-matrices de la tête, débloquer la
poignée (49), extraire complètement l'axe (16) et sortir
le bloc par le haut.
2.6) Rangement
– Décompresser en appuyant sur le levier, (voir §2.4)
– L’outil doit être ramené à sa position de repos, pour être rangé dans son coret, le travail
terminé.
– Manovrando il manico mobile (31) inizia l'avvicinamento della lama (10) al conduttore (rif. a
Fig. 5).
Prima di procedere all'operazione di taglio assicurarsi che il perno (16) sia inserito a fondo e
che la leva (49) sia perfettamente bloccata.
Assicurarsi che la lama sia in corrispondenza del punto di taglio desiderato; in caso contrario
riaprire le matrici agendo sulla leva di bloccaggio e riposizionare il conduttore.
2.3) Taglio (Rif. a Fig. 5)
– Continuando ad azionare il manico mobile, si passerà automaticamente dall’alta alla bassa
velocità; la lama (15) avanzerà progressivamente no al completo taglio del conduttore che
avverrà in modo netto e preciso senza alcuna deformazione del conduttore stesso.
Non utilizzare l'utensile per il taglio di tondi in acciaio!
2.4) Riapertura delle matrici
– Premendo a fondo la leva sblocco pressione (33) posta sul corpo pompante dell’utensile, si
otterrà il ritorno del pistone (13) con conseguente riapertura della lama (15).
– Sbloccare la leva (49), le matrici si apriranno con conseguente rilascio del conduttore.
2.5 Inserimento del gruppo matrici (Rif. a Figg. 1 e 2)
– Estrarreilperno(16)einserireilgruppomatriciall’interno
dell'utensiledall’altoinmodochelaguida(A)siposizioni
nella scanalatura sul fondo della testa e che l’incavo (B),
sul fronte delle matrici, sia rivolto verso la lama da taglio
(15).
– Inserire il perno (16) completamente no alla battuta.
Il posizionamento del gruppo matrici all'interno della
testa é univoco, solo se introdotto in modo corretto
sarà possibile l'inserimento del perno (16).
– Pertogliereilgruppomatricidall'utensilesaràsuciente
sbloccare la leva (49), estrarre completamente il perno
(16) e slare il gruppo dall'alto.
2.6) Messa a riposo
– Far arretrare completamente il pistone agendo come descritto al § 2.4.
– Riporre l'utensile nella sua valigetta in materiale plastico.

3. RECOMMANDATIONS
Cet outil est robuste et ne nécessite aucune attention ou entretien particulier.
Les recommandations qui suivent sont néanmoins souhaitables pour assurer une longévité
optimum:
3.1) Nettoyage élémentaire
Veiller à protéger l'outil de la poussiére, du sable et de la boue qui sont un danger à tout système
hydraulique. Chaque jour après utilisation, l'outil doit être nettoyé à l'aide d'un chion propre,
tout particulièrement aux endroits de pièces mobiles.
3.2) Rangement
Ilestde bonne règlede rangerl'outildans son
coret, fermé, après usage, en protection des
chocs et de la poussière.
Le coret(type VALP17)est conçupour loger
l'outil et 4 bloc-matrices.

3.3) Rotation de la tête
La tête de l'outil pivote de 180° par rapport au
corps, permettant à l'utilisateur de travailler dans la position, la mieux adaptée.
Attention: ne pas forcer la rotation de la tête, lorsque le circuit hydraulique est en pression.
4. ENTRETIEN
Le seul problème pouvant être rencontré parfois, nécessitant une intervention, est la présence
d’une bulle d’air dans le circuit hydraulique. Cet incident est caractérisé par un mauvais fonc-
tionnement de l'outil: dans l'action de montée en pression, soit la lame ne monte pas, soit elle
progressetréslentement,soitellemonteetredescentpulsativement.Danscecas,ilestnécessaire
de procéder comme suit:
4.1) Elimination de bulles d’air (Voir Fig. 6)
a– Mettre l’outil en position verticale dans un étau, en écartant le bras mobile (31) (voir Fig. 6).
b– Dévisser le bras principal (03) du corps (12), et le dégager complètement, laissant apparaître
le réservoir d’huile en caoutchouc (02).
c– Retirer le capuchon (01) du réservoir.
d– Actionner 3 ou 4 fois le bras mobile (31), faisant avancer le piston (13).
e– Appuyer sur le levier (33), la valve de décompression libèrera complètement la pression
d’huile dans le circuit hydraulique; maintenir le levier appuyé jusqu’à la rétraction totale du
piston (13) et de l’huile dans son réservoir.
f – Refaire les opérations (d - e) au moins cinq fois, an de permettre aux éventuelles bulles
d’aircontenuesdans le circuithydrauliqued’êtrerejetéeset évacuéesparle réservoird’huile.

2. ISTRUZIONI PER L’USO
2.1) Preparazione
– Scegliere il gruppo matrici adatto al conduttore (lo di contatto o corda) da tagliare; sono
previste due tipologie di gruppi matrici:
Per il taglio dei li di contatto sagomati:
il gruppo matrici é sagomato in modo da riprodurre il prolo del lo di contatto da tagliare.
Per il taglio di corde:
il gruppo matrici è dimensionato in modo da riprodurre la sagoma della corda da tagliare.
2.2) Posizionamento
– Inserire il gruppo matrici all’interno della testa dell'utensile (vedi § 2.5).
– Posizionare il conduttore all’interno del gruppo matrici in modo che la lama (15) sia in corri-
spondenza del punto di taglio desiderato.
– Chiudere le matrici (rif. a Fig. 3) portando la leva (49) verso il basso no a ne corsa bloccandola
in posizione; a questo punto il conduttore sarà pronto per il taglio (rif. a Fig. 4).
