PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
■Place the protective cover on the sensor when transporting
it (to protect the diffuser) and when you are not using it (to
reduce ageing of the cell under strong lighting).

1.PRESENTATION
C.A 811 and C.A 813 pocket luxmeters are lighting
measurement instruments, equipped with a silicon photodiode.
They have a digital display and are light and easy to manipulate
in one hand.
2. DESCRIPTION

3. USE
3.1 Procedure
1. Place the sensor flat on the surface where you wish to
measurethelighting.Moveawayfromthe measurementarea
to avoid influencing the measurement (possibility of shade).
2. Toswitchtheinstrument on:select oneofthe 2measurement
units with ➅, the measurement appears on the display;wait
until the displayed value is stabilised and, with ➄, choose
the appropriate measurement range.
3. Configure the instrument according to the type of
measurement to be taken using special function keys ➃or
➂(see § 3.2).
4. Record the measured value once the display has stabilized.
The instrument is switched off by returning the cursor of ➅to
the OFF position.
Note: If the lighting to be measured is not within the
measurementrange, theinstrumentwilldisplayOL;inthiscase,
press briefly on ➄a few times to choose the appropriate
measurement range.
3.2 Special functions
See § 2. Description
HOLD:when you press on this key, the instrument freezes on
the last value measured, this function is deactivated
when the instrument is switched off
MAX:the instrument (C.A 811) displays the maximum value
measured;this functionisusefulwhenthelightingvaries,
it is deactivated when the instrument is switched off or
the key is pressed again.
PEAK: the instrument (C.A 813) displays the peak value
measured;thisfunctionis usefulwhen thelightingvaries
very rapidly, it is deactivated when the instrument is
switched off or the key is pressed again.

5.MAINTENANCE
For maintenance,use only specified spare parts. The
manufacturer will not be held responsible for any accident
occuring following a repair done other than byits AfterSales
Service or approved repairers.
5.1 Upkeep
5.1.1 Changing the battery
■Put the switch in the OFF position
■Remove the cover at the back of the instrument
■Replace the old battery with a 9 V battery (6LR61 or 6LF22
type)
5.2 Cleaning the housing
Clean the unit with a cloth and a little soapy water.Clean off
with a damp cloth.
Do not use solvents.
5.3 Metrological Checks
It is essential that all measuring instruments are regularly
calibrated.
For checking and calibration of your instrument, please contact
our accredited laboratories (list on request) or the Chauvin
Arnoux subsidiary or Agent in your country.
5.4 Repairs
Repairs under or out of guarantee: please return the product to
your distributor.
