SETTING THE AFTERMARKET RADIO BRAND
With the key in the off position, turn the rotary radio selector to the corresponding aftermarket radio.
USING THE BLUE/YELLOW SWC WIRE
If a Kenwood or JVC radio is used, you must connect the BLUE/YELLOW SWC wire of the GM-16 harness to the
BLUE/YELLOW SWC wire of the aftermarket radio harness. Follow the radio selector settings above.
If the vehicle is equipped with a factory Bose system, use the 8-pin Bose
adaptor that is included. Plug in the Bose adaptor between the two 8-pin
harness connectors. (The Bose adaptor allows for the radio to match the
Bose amplifier’s level)
High Gain (non-Bose)
- Press OnStar button and listen for, “OnStar Ready”, turn Dial knob to 9, adjust volume to desired level,
wait for 4 seconds then press OnStar button, wait for “Thank you, Goodbye” confirmation.
- Turn Dial Knob back to corresponding Aftermarket radio setting. The interface is defaulted to Low-Gain
(Bose Systems)
- A relay may be needed for radios that require more than 3 amps power.
See connection diagram on the right. An instance when a relay is needed is when the
radio power cuts on and off.
