Connection/Basic setting
1. Connect the spiral cord to the socket on the handset and to the socket marked q
on the telephone.
2. 914c: Connect the batteries. See Batteries.
915c: Connect the mains adapter to the socket marked DC 9V on the bottom of the
telephone and then to an electrical wall socket.
3. Fit the table stand by following the diagram below.
4. Replace the handset.
5. ThedisplaywillashENGLISH. If not, hold vpressed down for about 4 seconds.
6. Scroll to the desired language with v/V. Press 0.
7. Scroll to the desired contrast setting (3=normal) with v/V. Press 0.
8. Scroll to the desired hour (00-23) with v/V. Press 0.
9. Scroll to the desired minute with v/V. Press 0.
10. Scroll to the desired day with v/V. Press 0.
11. Scroll to the desired month with v/V. Press 0.
12. Scroll to the desired pause setting (2 seconds=normal) using v/V. Press 0.
13. Ensure the correct Recall time is displayed (ie: 100 for EU/UK/AUS,
300 France/Portugal and 600 New Zeeland). Press 0.
14. Connect the telephone cord to the network wall socket and to the socket marked T
on the telephone.
15. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
Changing the clock, language or contrast
If you wish to change the clock, language or contrast at any time, repeat steps 5. - 12. as
above.
Batteries
In order for Caller ID, memory etc. to function, the device needs four type AAA 1.5V batteries.
Only use high quality batteries.
When the batteries are running low, the symbol will light up.
1. Unplug the telephone cable and remove the cover.
2. Insert the batteries according to the markings for plus and minus terminals.
3. Replace the battery cover.

The display
In standby mode the date and time is indicated on the display, as well as the number of
new phone numbers and the total number of phone numbers that have been stored in the
Caller ID memory.
Making a call
Regular dialling
1. Pick up the handset.
2. Enter the desired number.
Dialling with correction function
If necessary, the telephone number you have dialled can be changed before it is connected.
1. Enter the required number. Mistakes can be deleted using 0.

Call Back
Pick up the handset. Press rto redial the most recently dialled number.
Mute button
Press and hold zto disable the handset microphone, release zto reconnect the microphone.

Memory
The telephone has 4 one-touch memories and 10 speed dial numbers. When a number has
been saved in these, you only need to press one or two buttons to make a call. The one-
touch numbers are M1-M4 and the speed dial numbers are 0-9.
Saving memories
1. Press .
2. Enter the phone number (up to 22 digits) using the keypad. Press .
3. Entername.Presstheequivalentdigitkeyonceorseveraltimesfortherstletter.
Press .
4. Select M1-M4 by pressing the corresponding button or select a memory location by
pressing one of the keypad numbers 0-9.
Dialling using one-touch memories
1. Pick up the handset and select M1-M4 by pressing the corresponding button.
Dialling with speed dial numbers
1. Lift up the handset and press .
2. Select the speed dial number by pressing 0-9.

Phonebook
Use the Phonebook to store names and telephone numbers. A stored phone number can
be dialled using fewer keystrokes than if it is dialled manually. If you subscribe to a Caller
ID service, the name/number of the caller will be shown when you receive an incoming
call (for those numbers stored in the Phonebook or the memories).
The Phonebook will store 32 sets of names and phone numbers. Entries in the
Phonebook are arranged alphabetically. Each name can be up to 16 characters in length,
and telephone numbers can be up to 22 digits in length. Each number key has been
allocated certain letters.
Storing names/numbers
1. Press b.
2. Press .
3. Press again.
4. Enter the phone number (up to 22 digits) using the keypad. Press .
5. Entername.Presstheequivalentdigitkeysufcienttimesfortherstletter.Press .
Press rif you want a pause in the telephone number.
Dialling from the phonebook
1. Press b.
2. Scroll among the entries with v/V. Or you can do a quick search by pressing the
correspondingnumberkeyfortherstletteroneormoretimes.
3. Press Qand lift the handset; the number is dialled, or wait to return to standby mode.
Changing telephone numbers/names
1. Press b.
2. Scroll to desired entry as above.
3. Press down until the display shows EDIT ? Press .
4. Correct/change the number using 0and v/V. Press .
5. Correct/change the name. Press .
Deleting a phonebook entry
1. Press b.
2. Scroll to desired entry as above.
3. Press 0, DELETE ? is displayed.
4. Hold 0down until the number disappears.
Deleting all entries in the phonebook
1. Press b.
2. Scroll to any entry as above.
3. Press 0down until the display shows DELETE ALL ?
4. Hold 0down until the number disappears.

Caller ID
Caller ID allows you to see who is calling before you answer a call or to see who has
called in your absence. If the number is stored in the phonebook, the name is shown
instead.
Received calls are stored chronologically. The sequence number is shown in the top right-
hand side of the display.
When the memory is full, the oldest number will be deleted automatically as each new
callislogged.Newcallsareindicatedinplaintextandbytheredindicatorashingin
standby mode.
You must subscribe to this service from your network operator in order for this feature to
function.
Retrieving and dialling incoming numbers
1. Press vand Vto scroll through phone numbers of calls received.
2. Press Qand lift the handset; the number is dialled or wait to return to standby mode.
Messages
Apart from phone numbers, the display can show:
OUT OF AREA No information received, e.g. an international call.
PRIVATE The call comes from a withheld number or a PBX.
qNumber not previously seen.
Z(double envelope) Several calls have been received from this particular
person.
Deleting telephone numbers
1. Scroll to the desired entry with vor V.
2. Press 0, DELETE ? is displayed or press down 0until DELETE ALL ? is
displayed.
3. Hold 0down until the number disappears.
Transferring numbers to the phonebook
1. Scroll to the desired entry as described above.
2. Press .
3. Press again. Enter names in the same way as for editing in the phonebook.

On Hold (914c)
Press hto place a call on hold. The call can be resumed by lifting the handset on the
same telephone.
Hands free function (only 915c)
1. Press . The hands free function will be activated and the LED indicator next to
the button will illuminate.
2. Dial the required telephone number. Adjust the volume using the volume control
located on the side of the telephone.
3. Press to terminate the call.
Please note!
If you wish, you can switch between handset and hands free mode by simply pressing
or lifting the handset.
Please remember that in hands free mode it is only possible for one person at a time to
talk.
Set up for New Zealand CID operation
1. Select English language (page 1, Connection/Basic setting ).
2. Selectashtime,R=600(page1, Connection/Basic setting )
3. Lift and replace the handset.
Important note for NZ users!
In order for the 0/00 prex to be included when dialling from the CID memory the
tasks above must be done. The telephone will add the required prex in accordance with
Telecom NZ guidelines.
Note that there may be some incoming international calls which result in number
lengths of less than 10 digits, but these are expected to be in the minority. Typical
examples are those from the Pacic Islands. These numbers will be displayed as national
numbers.
Numbers longer than 14 digits will not be displayed correctly and Dial back function
should not be used.
If a charge for local calls is unacceptable the dial back feature should not be used, refer to
page 11.
Troubleshooting
Check that the telephone cord is undamaged and properly plugged in. Disconnect any
additional equipment, extension cords and other phones. If the problem is resolved, the
fault is with some other equipment. Test the equipment on a known working line (e.g.
at a neighbour’s house). If the equipment works there the fault is probably with your
telephone line. Please inform your network operator. If the telephone still does not work,
contact the place of purchase for service. Don’t forget the receipt or a copy of the invoice.

REN (RN for New Zealand)
TheREN(RingerEquivalenceNumber)or(RN)isofsignicanceonlyifyouwishto
connect more than 1 telephone to your telephone line. A standard telephone line has a
maximum REN capacity of 3 (RN of 5). It is possible to connect 3 devices with a REN
of 1 (RN of 1) with no degradation to the product’s performance. Exceeding this limit
may cause the volume of the ringer in any phone to decrease or not ring at all.
Recall Time (Australia and New Zealand only)
Access to additional network services such as “Call Waiting” can be gained by using the
recall button R. Example: when the call waiting tones are heard, press R, listen for the
dial tone, then press 2. Please note that some networks require only the Rbutton to be
pressed, contact your network operator for more services information.
If this product is connected to a business PBX system, press the recall button Rfollowed
by the extension number to transfer a call. The standard setting is 100 ms. (600ms for
New Zealand).
