Cleaning the Caleo Incubator
1. Disinfecting/ Cleaning/ Sterilzing
a) done after each patient change
b) see Operator’s Manual for list of approved cleaning disinfectants
2. Check air filter…. Tilt unit for easy access:

4. Place Caleo in horizontal position using tilt controls:

5. Select Cleaning Mode from the Menu and start the Cleaning Mode.
6. ALLOW CALEO TO COOL DOWN after self cleaning (one hour)
7. Remove canopy… Grasp the handles on the sides of the canopy with both hands.

8. Wipe surfaces with approved disinfectant
9. Open the side doors:

10. Open all flaps same way. Remove any and all visible soiling, using approved
disinfectant.
11. Remove all grommets:
12. Clean the grommets with a disinfecting solution.
13. Remove the mattress from inside the incubator:
14. Wipe mattress down with approved cleaner and check for holes or punctures in
material.
15. Remove the mattress tray very CAREFULLY so as not to damage the sensor unit
below:

16. Remove XRAY tray….using recessed handle. Pull out XRAY tray as far as it
will go. Then tilt the drawer upwards and pull out completely:

17. Wipe down all surfaces with approved disinfectant
18. The remaining tray is also removed:
19. Remove that remaining piece by pressing the two catches inwards and lifting up
at the same time:

20. Wipe down surfaces
21. The impeller is now in plain view , remove ( PLEASE note: maybe HOT!)
22. Remove any soiling and wipe down with approved cleaning material
23. After drying replace impeller.
24. Turn over trough ( part removed to expose fan impeller)
25. Wipe down with approved cleaning solution

26. Base Frame and body. Remove any visible soiling with cloth and detergent
approved for use on Caleo.
27. Control Panel
28. Wipe –disinfect the surfaces then wipe clean with DAMP cloth and rub dry
29. DO NOT ALLOW MOISTURE TO ENTER THE CONTROL PANEL. DO NOT
DISINFECT THE CONTROL PANEL BY IMMERSION OR SPRAYING

CAUTION ON CLEANING AGENTS: Clean with a “surface disinfectant on the basis
of aldehydes or quarternary ammonium compounds.” See Op Manual pg. 110 for more
details on cleaning.
