NOTES
Please read the instruction manual thoroughly before using your new appliance. It is important to keep these
instructions as a useful reminder that’ll help you enjoy the many features available. The manufacturer is not
responsible if the appliance becomes damaged or defective as a result of the user not following the information
included in the instruction manual. If the appliance becomes faulty during regular use, it should only be repaired
by an authorised service engineer.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
The following safety instructions must be followed when using the appliance.
Please read this section very carefully!
Of course, it’s not possible for us to anticipate or provide safety rules for every specific situation, so we ask you to
apply commonsense precautions when using the appliance in a situation that isn’t described below.
• Thisappliancehasbeendesignedforhouseholduseonly,noother(heavyduty)usesarepermitted.
• Donotusetheappliancewithanykindoftimerorrelayswitch.
• Donotusetheappliancecontinuouslyformorethan60minutes.
• Donotusetheapplianceoutdoors.
Warning!Donotleavethesandwichmakerunattended-evenforamoment-whenitisswitched
on. When you have finished using the appliance, switch the power off before unplugging it from
the mains socket. Take care not to touch the cooking plates inside the machine as these will
remainhotforawhile.Don’tattempttomove,cleanorstoretheapplianceuntilithascooled
down completely.
• Thisdeviceisnotsupposedtobeusedbyphysicallyormentallyhandicappedpeople,orpersonswithout
experience or knowledge (including children, as well), unless such a person supervises or guides their use of
the device, who is at the same time responsible for their safety. As for children, supervision is recommended
to make sure that they do not play with the device. This device is not supposed to be used by children under
the age of 14, not even with supervision!
• Neveruseanapplianceoraccessorythatthemanufacturerdidnotsupplywithorproposeforusewiththe
appliance. The use of such appliances might lead to accidents or irregular function.
• Donotusethesandwichmakeronwetsurfacesornearasinkcontainingwater.

• Onlyusetheapplianceonstableflatsurfaces.Alwaysbesurethattheappliancecannotslipfromthesurface
on which it is located; and cannot fall into any container of liquid, e.g. a sink. If the appliance does fall into
liquid during operation (or it is exposed to moisture), do not touch the appliance, but switch it off by pulling
out the plug from the mains socket and take it to an authorised service centre for repair.
• Inordertoavoidelectricshock,neverimmersetheapplianceinwateroranyotherliquid.Nevertouchthe
appliance with wet hands. Never allow the wall socket to become wet. You must have dry hands when you
plug the mains connector into the wall socket and when you unplug it. If any moisture is allowed inside the
appliance, immediately stop using it and take it to a service engineer for checking or repair.
• Unplugtheappliancefromthemainssocketafteruseandbeforecleaningorchangingthecookingplates.
Never unplug the appliance by pulling the cable; always hold and pull the body of the plug.
• Nevermoveorlifttheappliancebypullingthepowercable.Whenmovingorusingtheappliance,takecare
to avoid the cooking plates hitting each other.
• Onlyusetheapplianceinadry,dust-freeandfrost-freeareawherethetemperatureisbetween+5°Cand
+40°C.
• Neverleadthepowercablesaroundsharpcornersoralongorabovehotsurfaces.Neverwindthepower
cable around the casing of the appliance, and do not drag or lift the appliance by the power cable because it
might tear away or the insulation might become damaged. Use the cable cleat (holder) to store the excess
cable section. If the power cable of the appliance has become damaged, have it replaced at an authorised
serviceengineer.Donotconnecttheappliancetothemainsifthepowercableisdamaged.
• Neverusethesandwichmakernearagasorelectrichobandprotectitfromanyexternalheatsources.Donot
use it in a covered or enclosed space (e.g. below the cupboard of a fitted kitchen). Keep the appliance away
from direct sunlight as this could cause the casing to fade or discolour.
• Keepthemainscableawayfromthehotpartsoftheappliancewhenyou’reusingit.
• Makesureyouremoveallpackagingfromfoodbeforeputtingitinsidethesandwichmaker.
• Placetheapplianceonaheat-resistantsurfacebeforeusingit.
Somepartsoftheappliancewillbecomeveryhotwhenit’sbeingused.Donottouch
these surfaces during use or when the appliance is cooling down. Even a short, accidental
contact could burn you.
• Donotmovetheappliancewhenit’sconnectedtothemainsoriscoolingdown.
• Donotplugthesandwichmakerintothemainsunlessthecookingplatesarefitted.
• Onlyusematchingupperandlowercookingplates(sandwich,waffleorgrill)intheapplianceatthesame
time.
• Avoidgrillingbonyfood;thiscandamagethenon-stickcoatingonthegrillingplates.
• Donotusethesandwichmakerwithoutfood(exceptwhensettingitupforthefirsttime).

• Nevercoverthesandwichmakeroruseitnearflammablematerial(e.g.curtainsetc).
• Alwayswaituntilthesandwichmakerhascooleddownbeforeremovingthecookingplates,changingthe
plates, cleaning it or storing it. Take care of the non-stick surfaces when storing the appliance.
• Avoidtouchingthecookingplateswithsharporabrasiveobjectsasthesecandamagethenon-sticksurfaces.
• Toavoidtheriskofelectricshock,donotallowanythingtofallintotheopeningsontheapplianceandnever
insert anything into the openings. When preparing waffles, make sure the batter doesn’t get inside the cover
as this could cause an electrical fault.
• Toavoidoverloadingyourelectricalsupply,donotuseanotherhigh-powerapplianceinthesamemains
socket or extension as the sandwich maker.
• Ifyourapplianceisdamagedoroperatesinanabnormalway,immediatelystopusingitandtakeittoan
authorised service engineer for checking, repair or adjustment.
• Modifyingoraddinganextralengthtothepowercableoftheapplianceisforbidden!
Should the cable of the appliance turn out to be too short, it may be extended only by using a commercially
available standard extension cable equipped with protective earth contact, and the extension cable must
have an electrical rating of at least 10 A (cables with lower electrical rating could heat up during use). If
other electric appliances have to be operated simultaneously with the same extension cable, their current
consumptions must be added up to determine the electrical rating requirement of the extension cable. If an
extension cable is used, both the mains socket and the extension cable must have protective earth. When an
extension cable is used, special care must be taken to avoid tripping over it.
• Themanufacturerisnotresponsibleforanydamagethatresultsfromoveruse,incorrectoperation,incorrect
maintenance, neglecting the information given in the instruction manual or normal wear and tear. In
addition, the manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by any parts of the appliance breaking or
cracking.
• Youmustnotdisassembletheappliance,removeitscoverortotrytorepairit.Ignoringthisadvicecould
cause a serious accident. There are no parts in the appliance that can be repaired at home or used for any
otherpurpose.Neveroperatetheappliancewithadamagedmainscableorconnector.Donotusethe
appliance if it fails to work normally or if it has been dropped or damaged. If the appliance becomes faulty
for any reason or if any moisture is allowed inside, take it to an authorised service engineer for checking
and repair. Only service engineers who have been trained and approved should repair the appliance. The
manufacturer cannot take any responsibility for unauthorised repairs or for any circumstances resulting from
not following the instructions.

Dear Customer,
All electrical and mechanical equipment needs to be cared for appropriately. It’s important to
note that using or storing the appliance in certain conditions may adversely affect its lifespan and
functionality. Always protect the appliance from the conditions listed below.
Using or storing the appliance in a wet, humid or damp environment can cause:
- deterioration and premature aging of the cover and electric insulation of the appliance,
- premature wearing and aging of the plastic and rubber components,
- rust and corrosion affecting electrical components and metal parts.
Using the appliance in a dusty environment or in the kitchen (where the air may be contaminated
with vapours from cooking oil or grease) can cause:
- greasy dust coatings on the mechanical and electrical elements and the casing of the appliance,
which could result in electrical contact failure or even complete breakdown, and could also
damage the plastic and rubber elements.
The effects of direct sunlight on the appliance can include:
- accelerated deterioration of the appliance casing and its plastic and rubber components,
damage to strength and other structural features. The appliance’s surface may become porous
and fragile, which may result in a safety risk.
Storing the appliance in cold or frosty environment may cause:
- damage to the plastic and rubber components; if they become fragile, this may result in a safety
risk.
- oxidation resulting from condensation, and corrosion of the metal components.
Direct and indirect heat (e.g. being too close to an oven or a heating appliance) can cause:
- damage, deformation, softening or melting of plastic or rubber parts and casing elements, or
deterioration of electrical insulation.
Following the operating instructions and avoiding any of the conditions listed above will help you
increase the lifespan of the appliance. The manufacturer is not responsible if the appliance is stored
inappropriately or contrary to these instructions. You are recommended to have the appliance
serviced regularly by an authorised engineer to keep it working for as long as possible.
Please respect the environment when the appliance reaches the end of its life. Electrical products
must not be disposed of with other residential waste because they can damage the natural world
and may be hazardous to human health. You should dispose of the appliance at an appropriate
recycling site or by using a collection service that specialises in electrical appliances.
Please keep this instruction manual. If you give the appliance to anyone else, you must give them
this instruction manual, too!

POWER SUPPLY
Theappliancemustonlybeconnectedtomainselectricityof230V~,50/60Hzwithanearth
connection. Always ensure the mains voltage where you’re using the appliance corresponds to the
value shown on the nameplate of the appliance.
USING THE APPLIANCE
Before use
• Removeallthepackagingfromthesandwichmakeranditsaccessories,thenchecktomakesureeverything
is complete and undamaged. You should only use the appliance if it is in full working order and all the correct
parts are present. After this inspection, clean the sandwich maker as described in the ‘Maintenance and
cleaning’ section.
• Beforeusingthesandwichmakerforthefirsttime,connectittothemainsandswitchitonforseveral
minutes without any food between the cooking plates. A distinctive odour may be noticed, although this will
soon stop.
• Alwaysensurethesandwichmakerisusedinawell-ventilatedarea.
Using of appliance
Placetheapplianceonastable,flatheat-resistantsurfacebeforeusingit.Donotover-fillthe
sandwich maker. You should be able to close the upper cooking plate gently without forcing it.
Excess pressure can damage the mechanical components of the sandwich maker, which could
lead to an electrical fault. This type of damage results from incorrect use and is not covered by the
warranty.

1. Fit the appropriate upper and lower cooking plates depending on whether you are preparing a toasted
sandwich, waffles or grilled food.
2. Warning! Make sure the sandwich maker has cooled down completely before removing or replacing the
cooking plates.
3. To remove the cooking plates, pull back both release buttons (part no.8 on the diagram).
4. To insert your chosen cooking plates, ensure the pins on the back of the cooking plate fit into the
corresponding holes in the appliance. Make sure the plates are fixed in place before using the sandwich
maker.
Making a toasted sandwich
1. Fit the sandwich toasting plates into the appliance as described above.
2. Brushorwipethetoastingplateswithoilorbutter.
3. The toasting plates need to be pre-heated before you place any food in the appliance. To do this, close the
lock (part no.4) and connect the sandwich maker to mains power. The power indicator will glow red when
power is connected and the toasting plates are being heated.
4. When the appliance reaches the correct temperature for cooking, the green heating indicator will light up.
5. Releasethelockandopenthesandwichmaker.
6. Cover one side of a piece of bread with butter or margarine.
7. Place the slice of buttered bread on the lower toasting plate with the buttered side touching the plate. You
can place a second slice on the adjacent lower plate if you want to make two toasted sandwiches.
8. Put your sandwich filling on the unbuttered (upward) side of the bread.
9. Place a slice of buttered bread on the topping, making sure the plain side is against the topping. The buttered
side should face upwards.
10. Close the appliance carefully, using the lock to fasten the upper and lower plates. Steam can escape from the
sandwich maker when it’s being closed; this can cause burns and may also stain nearby furniture or walls, so
always take care when closing the appliance.
11. After toasting your sandwich for the appropriate time, release the lock and open the sandwich maker. Take
care to avoid being burned by any steam that escapes from the appliance.
12. Use a wooden or heat-proof plastic slice to remove your hot sandwich without damaging the non-stick
coating on the cooking plates.
13. Beforepreparinganothertoastedsandwich,closetheapplianceandwaitforittoreachthecorrect
temperature again (indicated by the green light).
14. When you’ve finished using the sandwich maker, unplug it from the mains socket. Wait for it to cool down
completely and then clean it as described in the ‘Maintenance and Cleaning’ section.

Notes
• Thebuilt-inthermostatwillmaintainanappropriatecookingtemperature,causingthegreenlighttoswitch
on and off during cooking.
• Werecommendusingslicedbreadinthesandwichmaker.Thebestresultscanbeobtainedfromusing
‘toasting’ or thick sliced bread, which tends to have the best size and thickness for making toasted
sandwiches.
• Cookingtimewilldependonthetypeofbread,thefillingandyourpersonalpreference.
Making waffles
1. Prepare your waffle batter (as explained in the ‘Waffle recipe’ section).
2. Fit the waffle baking plates into the appliance as described above.
3. Brushorwipethebakingplateswithoilorbutter.
4. The baking plates need to be pre-heated before you place any batter in the appliance. To do this, close the
lock (part no.4) and connect the sandwich maker to mains power. The power indicator will glow red when
power is connected and the baking plates are being heated.
5. Whentheappliancereachesthecorrecttemperatureforcooking,thegreenheatingindicatorwilllightup.
6. Release the lock and open the sandwich maker.
7. Measure out a spoonful of waffle batter onto the lower baking plate. Make sure the batter doesn’t overflow
over the edge or into the appliance.
8. Close the appliance gently but do not lock the upper and lower plates together. This will allow the batter to
rise when cooking, resulting in a lighter waffle.
9. After a few minutes, check whether your waffles are cooked. If not, close the upper plate and cook for a little
longer.
10. Use a wooden or heat-proof plastic slice to remove your freshly-baked waffles without damaging the non-
stick coating on the cooking plates.
11. Beforepreparinganymorewaffles,closetheapplianceandwaitforittoreachthecorrecttemperatureagain
(indicated by the green light).
12. When you’ve finished using the appliance, unplug it from the mains socket. Wait for it to cool down
completely and then clean it as described in the ‘Maintenance and Cleaning’ section.
Waffle recipe
Ingredients:
180g plain flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 eggs
zest of 1 orange
