Dear Customer,
You have bought a high-quality technological
device which will give you years of pleasure.
Read the operating instructions before as-
sembly carefully and keep both these and
the packaging.
If the device changes hands, please forward
the instructions with it.
Should you still have questions after read-
ing, our Service Center is happy to help you.
First check that the device has been deliv-
ered undamaged. Please reclaim transport
damages immediately with the forwarding
company or contact the company who sup-
plied you with the device.
Important notes
Danger of injury or fire due to incorrect as-
sembly or usage!
Please observe the following guidelines in
particular!
Electrical installations, repairs and interven-
tions with the device must only be carried
out by an electrician. Unprofessional inter-
ventions lead to loss of the guarantee claim.
Incorrect repairs may generate considerable
risks for the user.
• Ensure that the voltage information on the
device accords with the local mains volt-
age. The device is to be connected to a
230 V, 50 Hz protective contact socket.
The socket must remain accessible at all
times in order to allow quick removal of the
plug.
CAUTION! The device must be discon-
nected from the mains during all clean-
ing or maintenance work, when replacing
parts and accessories and when resolving
operating malfunctions.
• This device is not intended to be used by
people (including children) with limited
physical, sensory or cognitive capabilities,
or who have a lack of experience and/or
knowledge, unless they are being super-
vised by a person responsible for their
safety, or receive instructions on how the
device should be used.
• Children must be kept away from the lamp
and must be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with it.
• Please observe that the device must not
be subjected to mechanical loads (im-
pacts, pressure, concussions, vibrations).
The infra-red lamp may break. If the lamp
breaks, which is improbable if the device
is used according to its purpose, it must be
replaced with a new one, and the broken
one may no longer be used.
CAUTION! Risk of burn injuries from
broken lamps.
• Quartz lamps are sensitive to substances
containing sodium. Direct skin contact
(contact with fingers) reduces the lamp
lifetime and must be avoided.
This device is not a medical product in
terms of the MPG (German Medical De-
vice Law). The device may not be used
for such purposes.

Assembly guidelines
Do not put the device into operation until it
has been completely assembled.
Caution!
Remove the transport protection from the
Vitae lamp.
The lamp is secured with foam padding for
safe transport. Before initial commissioning,
this transport protection must be removed.
To do this, carefully pull out - do not tug - the
inserted foam padding from the device.
Ensure that the Vitae lamp is not damaged
whilst doing so.
The Vitae lamp is fragile. Please be
careful when removing the padding.
Ideally, hold the lamp tube using a clean
cloth or clean gloves at the respective place
so that the pressure is not transmitted to the
lamp as the transport protection is extracted.
Do not touch the lamp with bare hands.

The slot nuts can be pivoted and can be re-
moved from the slot again if necessary. You
may required a screwdriver to do this (Fig.3).
The slot nuts serve as an assembly and po-
sitioning aid. In order to guarantee the spring
function, they should be bent up slightly be-
fore being reinserted.
Adjusting the device position
The IRelax floor lamp is movable and can
therefore be transported easily to any loca-
tion.
The two rear stand wheels are equipped
with a special locking device which prevents
the device being moved during operation.
The stand is steplessly adjustable via a
pneumatic spring. It can be adjusted to any
height between 120 and 200 cm by releas-
ing the fixture handle on the stand tube, and
then locked by engaging the fixture handle in
the required position (Fig.5)

A handle has been mounted at the end of
the stand tube to make height adjustment
easier (Fig.5). The irradiation device can still
be turned steplessly by 360°.
To do this, loosen the operating handle on
the device fixture slightly and turn the irra-
diation device to the required position. Then
lock the operating handle again (Fig.6).
360°
Note! Ensure that the cable output on the
irradiation device is always pointing down-
wards in turned and vertical operating posi-
tion, as the cable must not come into contact
with hot device components.
Caution! Only move or adjust the floor lamp
in cooled condition. Risk of burn injuries!
If positioning the device above a bed or
stretcher, ensure that the minimum clear-
ances to the body and to the furnishings
can be maintained even if the device is ad-
justed.

Application examples
The IRelax irradiation device radiates heat
which penetrates deep into the skin, dilating
blood vessels and activating the blood cir-
culation.
This heat is distributed throughout the body
via the blood circulation, thus triggering its
effects.
The device is mainly used in physiotherapy,
whereby the promotion of circulation or an
increase in skin temperature is intended.
Therapy may only be undertaken in consul-
tation with the doctor treating you.
Typical areas of application are:
• Promotion of circulation
• Preparation for physiotherapy massages
• Reduction of pain in the field of ENT
• Alleviation of muscle pain
• Prevention of flu-type infections
• Alleviation of lower back ailments and
lumbago
Minimum clearances
Observe the minimum clearances during ir-
radiation
• Irradiation device to the body at least 70
cm
• Irradiation device to the head at least 120
cm
• Irradiation device to objects at least 30 cm
The surface of the irradiation device be-
comes hot when used. Ensure that you do
not come into contact with the device
when in operation.
Exposure period
The best results can be obtained with an ir-
radiation of 15 - 20 minutes.
Do not exceed a continuous irradiation
period of 20 minutes.
The device can be used several times per
week. On average, it is used 2 - 3 times per
week.
Looking into the lamp for extended periods
of time may lead to eye damage.
When facing the lamp, wear suitable safety
glasses or close your eyes.
Allow the device to cool down for at least 10
minutes before it is used again.
Initialisation
Ensure that the On / Off switch on the lamp
is switched off. The switch must be in switch
position 0.
Now connect the irradiation device using a
Schuko plug to a VDE-approved, earthed
230 V AC 50 Hz socket, fused with an earth
leakage circuit breaker.
You can now operate the device by switch-
ing the On / Off switch to switch position I.
The irradiation device must not be covered
up with towels or anything else. Risk of fire!
Switching off the device
In order to switch off the irradiation device,
press the On / Off switch again and switch it

Tips and guidelines for usage
Ensure that you feel comfortable during irra-
diation. Stop the irradiation and consult with
your doctor about your compatibility with
heat treatment if you feel uncomfortable.
• Do not use the device straight after eating
a meal.
• Before irradiation, drink approximately 1/2
l of fluid. The best fluid is water.
• Eating fruit normalises your calcium lev-
els. You can also take calcium and mag-
nesium in the form of effervescent tablets.
• Taking a shower before irradiation pro-
motes sweating, as the skin is cleaned.
• After switching the device on, find a com-
fortable position. Your body should be ir-
radiated evenly. By changing the clear-
ance between the device and your body,
you can influence the irradiation intensity.
• After irradiation, put on a dressing gown
or wrap a towel around your body and al-
low your body to regenerate for approx. 5
minutes.
• In order to free the skin from sweat con-
tamination, we recommend you take a
warm shower afterwards.
No heat treatments should
be carried out in the follow-
ing cases until you have
clarified matters with your
doctor:
• Acute and severe inflammation
• Acute injuries or bleeding
• Epilepsy and states of confusion
• Fever, infections, thromboses
• Surface vein inflammation
• Organ insufficiencies
• Sensibility disorders
• Kidneys, blood pressure disorders
• Surgical implants
• Under the influence of alcohol and drugs
• In an unconscious state or if paralysed
• During current circulation-promoting treat-
ment of skin
e.g. mechanical rubbing
• If painkillers are being taken
• After sunbathing or a visit to the solarium
• After operations
Remaining in the irradiation zone in spite of
pain caused by the heat can lead to burns
