The rated speed of the polishing accessory must
be at least equal to the maximum speed marked
on the po er tool. Polishing accessories running
faster than their rated speed can fly apart.
Do not use accessories hich are not specifically
designed and recommended by the po er tool
manufacturer. Safe operation is not ensured
erely because an accessory fits your power
tool.
Do not use accessories that require liquid cool-
ants. Using water and other liquid coolants ay
result in electrocution or shock injuries.
The outside diameter and the thickness of your
polishing accessory must be ithin the capacity
rating of your po er tool. Incorrectly sized pol-
ishing accessories cannot be adequately guarded
or controlled.
The arbour size of the polishing accessory,
flanges, sanding plates and any other accessory
must properly fit the spindle of the po er tool.
Polishing accessories with arbour holes that do
not atch the spindle of the power tool will run
out of balance, vibrate excessively and ay
cause loss of control.
Do not use damaged polishing accessories. Before
each use inspect application accessories such as
sanding plates, polishing discs, polishing sponges,
ire brushes for chips and cracks, polishing
plates for cracks, tears or excess ear and ire
brushes for loose or broken ires. If the po er
tool or the polishing accessory is dropped, inspect
for damage or install an undamaged polishing
accessory. After inspecting and installing a polish-
ing accessory, position yourself and bystanders
a ay from the plane of the rotating polishing
accessory and run the po er tool at maximum no-
load speed for one minute. Da aged polishing
accessories will nor ally break apart during this
test ti e.
Make absolutely sure that the polishing accessory
is mounted in accordance ith the manufacturer’s
instructions. The mounted polishing accessory
must be able to rotate freely. Incorrectly
ounted polishing accessories can loosen dur-
ing operation and fly off.
Al ays ork using the auxiliary handle or the gear
housing cover. The auxiliary handle or the gear
housing cover ensures reliable guidance of the
power tool.
Clean the ventilation openings on the po er tool at
regular intervals. The otor blower draws dust
into the housing. An excessive accu ulation of
etallic dust can cause an electrical hazard.
Keep bystanders a ay from the orking area.
Anyone entering the orking area must ear per-
sonal protective clothing/equipment. Frag ents
of the workpiece or broken polishing accesso-
ries can fly out and also cause injuries to persons
outside the actual working area.
Conduct the mains lead a ay from the rotating
polishing accessory. If you lose control over the
power tool, the ains lead could be cut through
or caught, thereby drawing your hand or your
ar into the rotating polishing accessory.
Never lay the po er tool do n until the polishing
accessory has come to a complete stop. The
rotating polishing accessory could co e into
contact with the underlying surface and cause
you to lose control over the power tool.
Do not carry the po er tool at your side hile the
motor is running. Accidental contact with the
rotating polishing accessory could cause it to
snag your clothing, pulling the accessory into
your body.
Causes of kick-back and precautionary
measures for the operator.
Kickback is a sudden reaction of the power tool
to a pinched or snagged polishing accessory,
sanding plate, brush or other accessory.
Pinching or snagging causes a rapid stalling of the
rotating polishing accessory, which in turn
causes the uncontrolled power tool to be forced
in the direction opposite to the polishing acces-
sory’s rotation at the point of the binding.
The polishing accessory ay either ju p
towards or away fro the operator, depending
on the direction of the wheel’s rotation at the
point of pinching and can possible also break.
Kickback is the result of power tool isuse and/
or incorrect operating procedures or conditions
and can be avoided by taking the proper precau-
tions listed below.
Hold the po er tool firmly and position your body
and arms optimally to ithstand any kickback
forces. Al ays use the original auxiliary handle so
that kickback forces or the starting torque can be
