1 User instructionsEnglish
Pressurisation of the swivel module on the handling
module HSW and, with a time delay, pressurisation of the
double-acting actuating cylinder of the waiting position
BAW-HSW moves the guide rail from the initial position (A)
into the waiting position (B). When the actuating cylinder
is being retracted, the pressurised swivel module pushes
the guide rail into the end position (C).
The waiting position BAW-HSW serves to keep the guide
rail of the handling module HSW in the waiting position.

Conditions for the safe use of the product
SObserve the specified limits (e.g. pressures, forces,
temperatures). Observe the ambient conditions at your
location.
SPressurise your system slowly. This will prevent
uncontrolled movements from occurring.
SUse the product in its original state without
undertaking any modifications.

2 Installation
Note
Make sure that the actuating cylinder of the waiting
position BAW-HSW is fitted free of distortion:
SAlways comply with the specified tightening torques.
STighten the screws equally in alternate sequence.
SAfter fitting, check manually to make sure that the
piston rod can be moved easily and smoothly.
SUse shut-off valves in order to make the system
pressureless for installation and maintenance work.
SFasten the elements of the BAW-HSW as follows:
– the shock absorber with lock nut 1on the retainer
and
– the actuating cylinder with 2 socket head screws 2
on the guide carriage.

Fitting the pneumatic components
SConnect tubing to the pneumatic connections 5of the
actuating cylinder (e.g. with QSML push-in fittings;
see illustration on the next page).
SUse, for example, the following components:
– a 5/2-way valve for actuating the actuating cylinder
(basic position: cylinder retracted)
– a 5/2-way valve for actuating the semi-rotary drive
on the handling module
– optional: additional external exhaust restriction to
further reduce the moving-out speed.
SFasten the tubing outside the area of movement of the
handling module. Secure the tubing with the aid of
cable straps to the holders of the installation kit MKRP
6(ècatalogue specifications).

Fitting the electric components
Use proximity sensors for position sensing.
1. Fasten the proximity sensors:
– SME/SMT-8 for sensing the waiting position in the
sensor rail 3or alternatively in the groove 4of the
actuating cylinder.
– SME/SMT-8 for sensing the end position in the
sensor rail 3.
– SME/SMT-10 for sensing the end position on the
swivel module 7(on the back).

2. Fasten the lines outside the area of movement of the
handling module.
SSecure the lines with the aid of cable straps, etc.,
to the holders of the installation kit MKRP 6
(ècatalogue specifications).

3 Commissioning
Caution
During operation, high dynamic forces are created,
which can damage the mechanical components.
SMake sure that the valve of the actuating cylinder of
the waiting position 1is switched with a delay from
the valve of the swivel module 2(time delay Δt
èTechnical specifications).
SPressurise your system slowly.
SObserve the commissioning instructions in the
operating instructions for the handling module.
SCarry out a test run as described in the operating
instructions for the handling module.

Mounting cycle with waiting position (example)
1. Basic position:
Handling module is in initial
position. Cylinder of the waiting
position is retracted.
2. Waiting position:
The handling module swivels into the
lower end pos., and the cylinder of
the waiting pos. runs out with a delay.
3. End position:
Cylinder of the waiting position
retracts.
4. Basic position:
Handling module swivels into
upper end position.

To set the waiting position

(A)
1. Pressurise the swivel module of the HSW and, with a
delay, the actuating cylinder of the BAW-HSW.
2. Loosen the locking nut 1of the shock absorber.
3. Turn the shock absorber (A) while at the same time
holding the lock nut in place until the desired position
is reached.
Note:
The shock absorber must project at least 1 mm, and
the lock nut must grip all threads.
4. Tighten the lock nut 1(tightening torque ètable in
the chapter Fitting “Mounting on the handling
module”).
