1 User instructions
The field bus node CPX-M-FB20/21 for CPX terminals is
intended exclusively for use as a slave on the Interbus.
The maximum values specified in “Technical data” must be
observed here. Detailed information can be found in the
manual for the field bus node P.BE-CPX-FB20/21-... as well
as in the CPX system manual P.BE-CPX-SYS-... .
Warning
 Switch off the power supply before mounting or
dismantling modules or connecting or disconnecting
plug connectors (danger of operative malfunctions or
damage).
 Only use power sources which guarantee a secure
electrical isolation of the operating voltage as per
IEC/DIN EN 60204-1. Also observe the general
requirements for PELV power circuits as per
IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
 Connect an earth conductor of sufficient cable cross
section to the connection on the CPX terminal
marked with the earth symbol.
 The CPX bus node contains electrostatically sensitive
components. Therefore, do not touch any compon
ents. Observe the handling specifications for electro
statically sensitive devices.
Note
Only commission a CPX terminal which has been
mounted and wired completely.

In normal operating status all green LEDs light up; the yellow and red
LEDs do not light up.
Without a field bus connection the LEDs UL, RD, US1 and US2 light up.

3 Installation instructions
3.1 Replacement of the fieldbus node
Please note
The fieldbus node FB20/21 consists of two CPX-M
interlinking blocks, a sub-base and the two Rugged Line
connections. Removal of these components is not
permitted. The fieldbus node FB20/21 should only be
exchanged completely.
The interlinking blocks in the metal version are each linked
to the adjacent interlinking block or end plate by means of
screws.

Dismantling:
1. Undo the screws from the right interlinking block of
the fieldbus node and the left adjacent component
(e.g. end plate).
Note
Do not bend the electrical plug connectors on the inter
linking blocks.
2. Carefully remove the interlinking block of the fieldbus
node from the adjacent components without tilting it.
Installation:
Note
When interlinking blocks are arranged in series:
Do not bend the electrical plug connectors on the inter
linking blocks.
1. Align the CPX terminal on a flat surface so that the
components are not offset. The bolts attached to the
left-hand side of the interlinking block help you with
the alignment.
2. Push the interlinking blocks together carefully without
tilting them.
3. Screw the connector screws a few rotations into the
adjacent interlinking block.
4. Tighten the screws evenly, hexagon socket size A/F4,
tightening torque 3 Nm ± 0.3 Nm.

3.4 Power supply of the CPX terminal
The operating and load voltage supply is supplied by
FB20/FB21 of the CPX terminal via the Rugged Line
connection.
Note
Use of the interlinking blocks with system supply type
CPX-M-GE-EV-S-… is not permitted in combination with
the FB20/FB21.
The outputs can either be supplied with load voltage via
the FB20/FB21 or optionally via the additional power
supply for outputs. The additional power supply should
only be installed on the right-hand side of the FB20/21
(see example below).

Caution
Short circuits can cause damage.
Provide external fuse protection for the additional sup
plies. The permissible current per pin at the supply is:
– 7/8" plug (5-pin) CPXMGEEVZPP5POL:
max. 8 A 1)
– Push Pull plug (5-pin), CPXMGEEVZ7/85POL:
max. 16 A
1) Limited by the specification of the connected plug
connector. Values apply for plug connectors from Festo
Accessories. If using third-party products, comply with
the applicable specifications.
3.5 Start-up behaviour of the CPX terminal
If the M LED lights up permanently after the system start,
then “System start with saved parametrisation and saved
CPX system equipment” is set.
Caution
In the case of CPX terminals on which the M-LED lights
up permanently, parametrising will not be restored
automatically by the higher-order system if the CPX
terminal is replaced after servicing. In this case, check
before replacement to see which settings are required
and carry out these settings.
