8. Read the whole instruction manual, and in particular the important safegu-
ards, before you start using the appliance.
9. To avoid the risk of fire or electrocution, follow basic safety rules when using
electric appliances and devices, particularly in the presence of children.
10. Connect the appliance to a 220-240 V~, 50-60 Hz alternating current mains
through a grounded socket.
11. To prevent electrocution, do not immerse the plug, the power cord or the
appliance in water or other liquids.
12. Do not hang the power cord over a table or sink edge.
13. Operate the appliance on a flat and stable suace resistant to high tem-
peratures.

Do not use the appliance outdoors. The appliance is designed for home use only.
15. Be careful when using the appliance.
16. Do not use the appliance for toasting foods containing sugar, jam or pre-
serves.
17. Do not leave the appliance unattended.
18. If you intend to hand this appliance over to a third party, transfer this instruc-
tion manual as well.
19. Remove the plug from the outlet socket when the appliance is not being used
or before you start cleaning the appliance. Wait until the appliance cools
down before you start cleaning or repairing it.
20. Do not cover the appliance during operation. If the appliance is covered or
touches a flammable material, a fire may be started.
21. Make sure not to connect too many electrical appliances to a single circuit.
22. Make sure that the power cord is not pinched when the appliance is being clo-
sed and that the power cord does not touch the edges of the heating plates.
23. Do not use any extension cord. If, however, you are willing to take responsibi

lity for such an action, use only an extension cord in good technical condition,
with proper grounding, and suitable for supplying power to the appliance.
24. Do not clean the appliance with corrosive cleaning agents.
25. Remove toasted sandwiches from the appliance with a plastic or wooden
spatula, or with another suitable non-metallic tool, so as not to damage the
anti-stick coating of the toaster.
26. Use the appliance only for its intended purpose.
27. Do not touch the appliance with wet hands.
28. If any liquid is spilled on the appliance, remove the plug from the alterna-
ting current mains socket immediately. Wait until the appliance cools down
and wipe it dry.
29. Retain the instruction manual and the packaging, if possible.
