Honeywell Disposable Particulate Respirator User Instructions
NOTE: In accordance with OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.134(f)* any worker required to wear this respirator
must be fit tested before using this product in the work environment.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions each and every time respirator is worn.
1. Cup the outside of the respirator in hand keeping nose bridge pointed away from you.
Allow the head straps to hang freely.
2. Press the respirator firmly against your face with the narrow end on the bridge of your
nose.
3. Pull the bottom strap over your head and position it below your ears
4. . Pull the top strap over your head and position it high on the back of your head.
5. Respirators with adjustable head-straps only: adjust tension by pulling head-straps evenly
with both hands. If tightened too much, tension may be decreased by pushing out on the
back of the buckle.
6. Mold the nose area to the shape of the face, running the fingertips of both hands from the
top of the nosepiece down both sides while pressing inward. Always use both hands.
PERFORMING USER SEAL CHECK
1. Place both hands over the respirator without disturbing its position.
2. Inhale sharply. If fitting properly, the mask will collapse slightly toward your face.
3. If you detect air-leaks or the mask does not collapse at all, readjust the head straps and/or the nose-piece and
repeat step 2.

WARNING:
If you cannot achieve satisfactory fit, do NOT enter the contaminated area. See your Supervisor. Failure to follow
these instructions will result in the risk of serious illness,injury or death.
USE LIMITATIONS
1. Do NOT use the respirator or enter or stay in a contaminated area under the following circumstances:
a. Atmosphere contains less than 19.5% oxygen;
b. if using N protection class respirator, any atmosphere containing oil aerosols ;
c. Contaminants or their concentrations are unknown or immediately dangerous to life or health;
d. Concentrations or contaminants exceed maximum use concentrations in applicable OSHA
standards or applicable government regulations or 10 times the PEL (Permissible Exposure Limit),
whichever is lower.
e. For protection against asbestos in any concentration;
f. For protection against gases or vapors;
g. While performing or observing abrasive blasting (sandblasting) operations, or for fire fighting.
h. In confined spaces such as tanks, small rooms, tunnels or vessels, unless the confined space is
well ventilated and the concentration of toxic contaminants is known to be, and will continue to be,
below the Maximum Use Concentration recommended for this respirator.
i. When conditions prevent a good face piece to face seal. For example:
i. the growth of beards, mustaches or sideburns which will pass between the face piece
sealing area and the face;
ii. any facial piercings or metal or other insertions therein that interrupt the seal
between the mask and the face;
iii. the use of spectacles, goggles or other devices which interfere with the respirator;
iv. the use of head or face coverings which contain materials which will pass between the
face piece sealing area and the face; and
v. missing teeth or dentures, facial deformities or deep scars.
2. Never substitute, modify, add, or omit parts. Discard the respirator and replace with a new one if:
a. excessive clogging of the respirator causes breathing difficulty or;
b. the respirator becomes damaged.
3. Immediately leave the contaminated area if:
a. breathing becomes difficult;

b. dizziness or other distress occurs;
c. you smell, taste or sense irritation from the contaminants; or
d. the respirator becomes damaged.
4. Some of these respirators offer relief from the irritating effects of gases/vapors at nuisance levels (i.e. levels
less than the OSHA PEL). Respirators against nuisance odors / organic vapors are so designated by the
mark “OV” on the respirator’s packaging and/or on the respirator. Respirators against nuisance acid gases
(e.g. Hydrogen fluoride, Chlorine) are so designated by the mark “AG” on the respirator’s packaging and/or
on the respirator. Do not use if levels exceed the PEL.
WARNING:
Failure to properly select the appropriate respirator for all the contaminants and their concentrations against
which protection is required, or a failure to follow either these Warnings and the Instructions for Use, or the
Cautions and Limitations contained within the NIOSH Approval Label on the other panel of this box, will
result in exposure to the hazardous materials and the risk of serious injury, illness or death.
5. All approved respirators shall be selected, fitted, used and maintained in accordance with CSA, OSHA, and
other applicable regulations.
6. Any air purifying respirator, when properly selected and fitted, will significantly reduce, but will not completely
eliminate, the breathing of contaminant(s) by the respirator wearer. You will obtain better protection from a
supplied air respirator.
7. NIOSH does not evaluate respirators for use as surgical masks.
*Before an employee may be required to use any respirator with a negative or positive pressure tight-
fitting facepiece, the employee must be fit-tested with the same make, model, style, and size of
respirator that he or she will be using.
