2 General
2.1 Preface
Please read these operating instructions before commissioning the
instrument. Keep the manual in a place that is accessible to all users at all
times.
2.2 Safety notes
This device has been built and tested in accordance with the safety
regulations for electrical instruments. Please observe the generally applicable
safety precautions and the device-specific safety notes in these operating
instructions.
Do not operate the instrument with a faulty power supply!
In such a case, hazardous voltages may appear on the terminals of the
instrument.
If it appears that the instrument can no longer be operated without hazard, then
it must be put out of action and labeled to prevent it being used again.
The instrument should then be returned to the manufacturer for repair.
Do not use this instrument in safety or emergency stop installations, or in
applications where a malfunction of the device could lead to injury to
personnel or significant material damage!
Please do not attach any equipment to socket 20, see Chapter 2.5
“Connections”, page 9 !
Correct functioning and operational reliability of the instrument will only be
assured when the permissible climatic conditions are observed (see Chapter 9
“Technical data”, page 30).
If the instrument is moved from a cold environment into warm surroundings,
then this may lead to condensation within the instrument. In this case, wait until
the instrument temperature has adjusted to the temperature of the
surroundings before proceeding with commissioning. Otherwise the
functioning of the instrument may be impaired.
For operation from the electrical supply, use only regulated power supplies
with an output voltage of 10.5 to 12 V.
If a sensor or sensor cable is faulty, or the sockets on the instrument are dirty
or damp, then the hand-held meter will display incorrect values!

2.3 Display
(1) Main display:
pH value, redox value (mV, mVH), rH value or operator prompting.
(2) Display elements to represent
minimum / maximum / stored measurement (HOLD).
(3) Display of the unit of measurement.
(4) Warning signal:
to indicate a low battery or need for recalibration.
(5) ATC arrow:
in the operating modes “pH”, “mVH” or “rH”, this indicates that the
temperature sensor is connected and the automatic temperature
compensation is active.
(6) OK arrow:
this indicates that the measurement was stable for a sufficiently long time.
(7) CAL arrow:
in “pH” operation, this indicates that the instrument is in calibration mode.
(8) Subsidiary display:
Temperature measurement or operator prompting.

During measurement:
- press briefly: displays the minimum or maximum
value measured up to now.
- press for 2 seconds: deletes the corresponding value.
In the Set / Menu level: entry of values or changes to settings.
(12) CAL (only on the “pH” mode)
- press briefly: displays the electrode condition and
calibration data.
- press for 2 seconds: starts the pH calibration.
(13) Set / Menu
- press briefly (Set): for “pH”, “rH” and “mVH”:
manual temperature entry, if no
temperature probe is connected.
Additionally, for “rH”:
manual entry of the pH value.
- press for 2 seconds: set the operating mode.
(Menu): call up the configuration.
(14) Store / Quit:
During measurement: hold and store the present measurement.
The display shows HLD.
For Set / Menu: confirms the entry,
returns to measurement.

2.5 Connections
The connection for the power supply can be found on the left side on the
hand-held meter.
(20) This socket has no function. Please do not connect any equipment here.
(21) BNC socket:
Connection for pH or redox combination electrode.
(22) Mini-DIN socket:
Connection for a Pt100 temperature sensor (4-wire connection).
A 2-wire connection is possible, but there will be an additional
measurement error, depending on the lead length.

The arrow shows the selected measurement function.

pH: pH measurement with a pH combination electrode.
mV: Redox measurement with a redox combination electrode.
mVHAs for mV. The indicated value is converted to the standard hydrogen
system, temperature-independent (DIN 38 404). This requires the
connection of the temperature sensor (ATC) or a manual temperature
entry.
rH The rH value is calculated from the measured pH, redox and
temperature values. The pH and temperature values can alternatively be
entered by hand.
thEr Temperature measurement with a Pt100 temperature sensor.
The main display shows the present temperature.
After pressing the key, with the or key, the subsidiary
display can show the Min or Max value, or the present measured value.
