Instructions for use
Turning power on and o
1. Long Press the Power/Mode button (3) to turn on the
camera. The Top Operation Indicator (2) will illuminate red.
2. LongpressthePower/ModeButton(3)toturnpowero.
Charging the battery
The camera has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Please
fully charge the battery before use.
1. Turnothecamera.
2. Connect the micro USB connector of the USB cable to the
camera and the other end to a PC/mains charger USB port.
3. The Charging Indicator (9) will be solid blue whilst charging.
4. OncefullychargedtheChargingIndicator(9)willturno.
Note: The camera body may be warm after extended use. This is
normal.
Inserting the memory card
The Escape Action Camera doesn’t have any internal memory. To
be able to record video or capture photos using the camera, you
must have your micro SD card inserted (32 GB max, not
included).
1. Ensurethecameraisturnedo.
2. Insert your memory card into the micro SD card slot (5).
3. ThecamerausestheFAT32leformat.IfthemicroSDcardis
incompatible, it will need formatting.
4. To format the card correctly, go to the ‘Changing the Camera
Settings’ section later in this manual and follow the ‘General
Settings’ instructions.

Changing the mode of the camera
Thecamerahas8dierentmodes:VideoMode,PhotoMode,
Burst Mode, Timed Photo Mode, Time Lapse Mode, Video
Playback, Photo Viewer and Settings Mode.
Video Mode For recording video clips
Photo Mode For taking still photos
Burst Mode Takes a series of 3 / 5 / 10 photos
Timed Photo Mode Takes a photo after a set time period
Time Lapse Mode Takes a photo at set intervals until
deactivated (selected in settings menu)
Video Playback Viewing recorded videos
Photo Viewer Viewing captured photos
Settings Mode For changing camera settings

Recording audio within a video
If using the camera with the waterproof case, audio will be
recorded although it will be less audible. For best audio quality,
the camera will need to be used without the case. When using
the camera without a case, please take extra care and make sure
it does not get wet.
Using photo mode
1. Turn on the camera and press the Power/Mode Button (3)
once to select Photo mode.
2. Use the built-in LCD (10) to view your shot, and then press the
Shutter/Ok Button (1) to take a still image.
3. After the image has been taken, the camera will make a
‘shutter’soundeectandthebuilt-inLCD(10)willblinkonce.
Using video mode
1. Turn on the camera, and it will start in Video mode. If in
another mode, press the Power/Mode button (3) until you
reach Video mode.
2. Use the built-in LCD (10) to view your shot, then press the
Shutter/Ok Button (1) to start recording.
3. WhenrecordingtheTopOperationIndicator(2)willash,the
LCD (10) will show a red video icon and will display how long it
has been recording for.
4. Press the Shutter/Ok Button (1) again to stop recording.
Note: The camera will stop recording and save automatically
when the memory capacity is full or it has run out of battery
power.

Using time lapse mode
1. Turn on the camera and press the Power/Mode Button (3) to
enter the Settings mode.
2. Scroll down the Settings menu and select ‘Time Lapse’, and
use this option to select the time period between each photo.
3. Return to the Setting menu and choose ‘Continuous Lapse’
and select ‘ON’.
4. Exit the Settings menu by scrolling up or down until the cross
in the top right corner is highlighted and press the Shutter/Ok
Button (1) to exit.
5. Press the Power/Mode Button (3) three times to select Timer
Mode.
Using burst mode
1. Turn on the camera and press the Power/Mode Button (3)
twice to select Burst Mode.
2. Use the built-in LCD (10) to view your shot, and then press the
Shutter/Ok Button (1) to take three still images. The camera
willmakeaseriesof‘shutter’soundeects,andthebuilt-in
LCD (10) will consistently black out during this sequence.
Using timed mode
1. Turn on the camera and press the Power/Mode Button (3)
three times to select Timer Mode.
2. Use the built-in LCD (10) to view your shot, and then press the
Shutter/Ok Button (1) to activate the timer. The built-in LCD
(10) will blink and the countdown will start with a beeping
sound. At the end of the countdown the built-in LCD (10) will
blackoutandthecamerawillsounda‘Shutter’soundeect.

1. OnceavideoleisselectedpresstheShutter/OkButton(1)to
play.
2. WhilstplayingthevideoleyoucanrewindbypressingtheUp
Button (11) or fast forward by pressing the Down/Wi-Fi Button
(13).
3. Whilst playing the video you can pause by pressing the
Shutter/Ok Button (1).
4. Press the Power/Mode Button (3) to return to the selection
screenwhenthevideoleispausedornished.
Removing the battery
1. Lift the battery cover (14) by lifting the battery cover latch (15).
2. Pull the battery tab to remove the rechargeable battery.
6. Use the built-in LCD (10) to view your shot, and then press the
Shutter/Ok Button (1) to activate the Time Lapse photo
sequence. At every set interval the built-in LCD (10) will black
outandthecamerawillsounda‘Beep/Shutter’soundeect.
7. The camera will continue to take a photo at every interval until
deactivated by pressing the Shutter/Ok Button (1) again.
Using playback mode
1. Turn on the camera and press the Up Button (11) and choose
video playback or photo viewer and then press the Shutter/
OK Button
2. TonavigatethroughyourlesusetheUpButton(11)and
Down/Wi-Fi Button (13).

Video Resolution Change the video resolution for the video recording. Select a
smallermoviesizeforreducedlesizeorahighermoviesize
for better quality
[4K (10fps)] / [2.7K (15fps)] / [1080P (60fps)] / [1080P (30fps)] /

Changing the camera settings
General settings
1. To enter the general settings menu, turn on the camera
and press the Power/Mode Button (3) 4 times to enter the
Settings mode, then press the Shutter/OK Button.
2. Use the Up Button (11) and Down/Wi-Fi Button (13) to navigate
through the menu.
3. Use the Shutter/Ok Button (1) to enter a heading.
Inthegeneralsettingsmenu,youwillndthefollowingoptions:
Looping Video Choose to record video on a 10 minute loop

Time Stamp This function can be used to add a date and time to your
videos as you take them

and time are correct. Use the Up and Down buttons to select

Using Wi-Fi
With the Escape 4KW’s built-in Wi-Fi, you can use your smart
deviceasacameraremote,viewnder,anddownloadlesto
your phone.
Downloading the Wi-Fi App
•The Wi-Fi app is available to download for free at the Apple App
Store™ and Google Play Store™.
• Androidusers:EntertheGooglePlaystore™,searchfor“Ez
iCam”, download and install, following this user manual to
connect the Wi-Fi and operate.
• iPhoneusers:EntertheAppleAppstore™,searchfor“Ez
iCam”, download and install, following this user manual to
connect the Wi-Fi and operate.
Pairing the camera to your device
1. Turn on the camera and press the Down/Wi-Fi Button (13).
2. The built-in LCD (10) will show the message ‘Waiting for Wi-Fi
connection…’.
3. Search for a Wi-Fi hotspot on your smart phone/tablet, select
the“ICAM-Escape4KW”networkandyouwillbeprompted
forapassword;enter“1234567890”toproceed.
4. Once connected the camera’s built-in LCD (10) will enter sleep
mode. If a camera button is pressed whilst the camera is in
Wi-Fi mode, the camera will disconnect from your device.
5. Open the ‘Ez iCam’ application, the app home screen (Figure
1) will open and ‘Sports Cam’ will appear in the device list.
Press on the device to enter the camera dashboard. If the
camera doesn’t appear on the list, search for devices by
pressing the top right refresh / + button.

2. On Apple devices, use the top toggle bar to switch between
photo gallery and video gallery. On Android devices, photo
andvideoleswillbedisplayedinonegallery,videoswillhave
a video icon in the bottom left of the thumbnail.
3. Toviewaphotosimplyselectaphotoleanditwillbe
expandedtollthescreen.
4. Toviewavideoleyouwillrsthavetodownloadtheleto
your device as the application doesn’t support video
streaming, follow the download steps below.

corner.
2. Taponeachleyouwishtodelete.
3. Onceyouhavechosenyourles,pressthetrashiconinthe
bottomleftcornertodeletethelesfromthecamera’smicro
SD card.
Using Wi-Fi to download les
1. Toselectlestodownload,pressthe‘Select’titleinthetop
right corner.
2. Taponeachleyouwishtodownload.
3. Onceyouhavechosenyourles,pressthedownloadiconin
thebottomrightcornertodownloadthelestotheapphome
screen(Figure1),thelescannowbeviewedoine(notethat
quality will be reduced). A pop-up will appear to advise you of
the download progress.
4. On the app home screen (Figure 1), press the gallery icon to
viewthedownloadedles.Todownloadthemtoyoursmart
device’snativeleviewer,followthesamedownloadstepsas
per the above.

Connecting the camera to a PC with the USB cable
1. Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the camera’s
micro USB input (6), and the other end to the PC’s USB port
and turn the camera on.
2. Turn on the camera. A ‘Connecting’ prompt will appear on the
built-in LCD (10).
3. Open [My Computer] or [Windows Explorer®] on your PC.
‘Removable Disk’ will be in the drive list. Double-click the
‘Removable Disk’ icon to view its contents. Files stored on the
camera are located in the folder named ‘PHOTO’ and ‘VIDEO’.
4. CopyordeletethelesthatyouwanttoyourPC.
Connecting your camera
Connecting the camera to an HDTV
1. Connect the micro HDMI end of a micro HDMI to HDMI cable
(not included) to the camera’s Micro HDMI output (8), and the
other end to the HDTV’s HDMI port.
2. Turn on the HDTV and select the appropriate HDMI source.
3. Followtheinstructionsforplayingbackles(page14).
4. Whenviewingisnished,turnothecameraandHDTV
before removing the HDMI cable.
Note: The screen will mirror the information on the camera screen.
Connecting the camera to a PC
Therearetwowaystodownloadlesfromthecamera’smicro
SDtoacomputer:
•By inserting the micro SD into a card reader
•By connecting the camera to a computer using the supplied
micro USB cable

Using the waterproof case
1. Open the waterproof case by releasing the clip on the top of
the case. To do so, pull the front of the clip backwards and
remove the camera.
2. Insert the camera correctly so that the case closes easily and
provides a tight seal.
3. Snap the top clip shut to ensure the case is waterproof.
4. To operate the camera, use the waterproof case’s external
spring buttons.
Waterproof case
The Escape 4KW Action Camera includes a case that is
waterproof up to 30 metres. When using the camera in a wet
environment, always use the waterproof case. It is recommended
that the case be used at all times for protection reasons.

Fixing the camera to a bike
1. Unscrew both screws (i) and place both halves (ii) of the
Bicycle Mount (A) around the desired position on the bike.
2. Replace the screws (i) and tighten them until the mount is
rmlyinplace.
3. Remove the screw from the top of the Mount (iii) and slot the
camera (inside waterproof case) into position, replace screw
and tighten to lock in position.
4. If you wish to use a forward-facing bar you may wish to use
the 90°adaptor (iv) in between the camera and the bicycle
mount to make the camera forward-facing. (iii)

Fixing the camera to a vented helmet
1. Fix the camera to the Mount Clip (i).
2. Threadthesuppliedstrapsthroughtheslotsinaatorcurved
AdhesiveMount(don’tremovetheadhesivelm)(ii).
3. Attach the camera assembly to the strap mount assembly by
sliding it in until it clicks into position.
4. Afterxingthecameratothemountcorrectly,usethestrapto
xittothehelmet.Adjustthelengthaccordingtothehelmet’s
size, and then push the clips down into position to lock the
straps in place.

Fixing the camera to a board/at surface
1. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the
adhesive mount.
2. Peeloadhesivepaperandstickthemountinthedesired
position.
3. Fix the camera to the Mount Clip (i).
4. Attach the camera assembly to the Adhesive Mount (C) by
slidingitinuntilyouhearit“Click”intoposition.
