Danger to life from explosion!
•
Do not use the service head in areas where flammable, combustible or explosive gas mixtures may
form.
Danger to life from fire!
Escaping oxygen is a powerful oxidant and thereby greatly intensifies the combustion process:
Open fire, glowing items, or open light are not allowed when working with oxygen!
•
Smoking is prohibited!
Danger to life from oxygen explosion!
Oxygen reacts explosively with oils, greases and lubricants. Danger of explosion due to highly compressed
oxygen:
•
Keep the oxygen and gas modules free of substances that contain oil, grease or lubricants!
•
For cleaning, do not use cleaning agents that contain oil, grease or lubricants.
Danger of injury from electric shock when connecting several terminal devices to the IDP Flex!
When connecting individual devices or interconnected device
combinations to the IDP Care, the electrical
power of all devices must not exceed the power rating of the built
-in sockets in the supply unit.
•
No adapters between the socket and the device connector.
•
Protect the sockets with a suitable circuit breaker.
Danger of injury from the ceiling mount falling down!
The load
-bearing capacity of the walls and the choice of fastening elements must be planned, checked and
confirmed in a written report by a structural engineer.

Danger of injury from electric shock!
When connecting the IDP Care to the power supply, it is mandatory to observe the data indicated on the
label, such as voltage
(V) and frequency (Hz).
•
Establish the power connection according to the circuit diagram supplied by the manufacturer.
Danger of injury due to use of unsuitable spare parts!
•
Make sure that damaged parts are replaced only with original spare parts.
•
Replace damaged screws with new ones having identical specifications.
Danger of injury from electric shock!
•
Disconnect the system from the power supply before starting any work on the IDP Care:
–Turn off the power supply on all phases on site and secure it against reactivation.
Repairs on the IDP Care may be carried out only by qualified staff.
Danger of injury due to improper use!
The IDP must not be tampered with or used for any purposes other than its intended use,
see
Instructions for Use independant Care Horizontal.
The
service head and its components must not be loaded beyond the maximum load-bearing capacity.
The system may be operated only by properly instructed qualified medical staff.
Danger of injury if standards and guidelines are not observed!
•
Install, test and use the components of the service head according to the specifications of the
standards IEC 7396 and IEC 7396-2-1.
•
Perform retests and testing after repair of medical electrical equipment in accordance with
DIN EN 62353.

Danger of
injury from falling parts!
During all assembly/disassembly work, no persons may be under the components of the service head.
Danger of injury due to improperly performed repairs!
Operators/users must not replace any parts of the service head by
themselves.
This is reserved exclusively for qualified staff approved by the manufacturer.
Danger of injury due to unauthorized use of sockets!
Connect only one device per socket; do not connect multiple sockets.
Damage to the system due to
penetrating cleaning liquid
The service head must not be sterilized. Only wipe disinfection is permitted.
Do not use active solvents to clean plastic parts.
The suspension arm system may be cleaned and disinfected only by properly instructed hygiene
specialists.
Electromagnetic compatibility
The system may be put into operation only if the EMC regulations are fulfilled, see section
9
“
Electromagnetic Interference Tables”, page 26.
The service head must not be used in the
vicinity of other devices. If the medical electrical system is to be
used near or placed on other equipment, check and ensure the normal operation of the latter in the
application configuration.

3Safety Instructions for the Installer
•Read the following installation instructions carefully.
•Comply with all safety instructions and installation requirements.
The load-bearing capacity and the condition of the ceiling must be determined.
Assembly, installation and servicing of the service head may be carried out only by LM Medical Division or
Gebrüder Martin, or by trained and authorized service personnel of these companies.
The device must be assembled and installed in accordance with the steps described in these Mounting
Instructions. If the device is damaged, assembly and installation must not be continued.
The safety, reliability and performance of the device are guaranteed only if original parts by LM Medical
Division are used.
The selection of fastening elements and the safe execution of the fastening process lies within the
responsibility of the person in charge of mounting.
The manufacturer's instructions must be strictly observed regarding maximum load and the installation of
fastening elements.
The site-specific electrical installations must comply with the nationally and internationally applicable
regulations.
The service head must not be installed in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
No additional loads may be added if this would exceed the maximum load of the service head. Observe the
maximum payload!

The horizontal console is delivered complete and tested, and is ready for mounting.
The mounting process is described using the IDP Care Horizontal ES as an example. It also
applies to the
other versions of the IDP Care Horizontal.

After opening the cover, the fastening holes of the console are accessible:
The following illustrations show the standard fastening hole positions for different console lengths.
•Fix the console at the recommended standard height of 1,700 mm above the finished floor (1).
•The fastening holes may vary depending on length or configuration.

4.3 Establishing the Gas Connection
The soldering of the gas lines, as well as the inspection for tightness, pressure, flow, contamination of the
respective gases is the responsibility of the supplier of the on-site gas supply system.
These guidelines correspond to the typical standards in force in Italy. If the medical service head is
equipped with other gas systems, the relevant guidelines and local specifications must be observed and the
associated control tests carried out.
•For access to the gas connections, pull the aluminum cover off the console using a suction cup.

Lines of gas extraction points
The pre-assembled cables (2) of the gas extraction points end in front of the through opening (1), as shown
in the drawing.
One medical gas line each coming from the central supply system is required that can be connected to the
corresponding pre-assembled cable (2).
The specialist company connects the end of the on-site gas line to the pre-assembled cable (2) and solders
them together.
The specialist company must then carry out and document an acceptance inspection.

•Connect the cables for sockets and lights to the terminal block according to the circuit diagram of the
respective device.

The weight is crucial for the selection of the right dowel.
The company commissioned with mounting is also responsible for selection the dowels.
All weights may vary depending on the gas and electric configuration.

6Transport, Maintenance and Cleaning
6.1 Transport, storage, preservation and disposal
Ambient conditions for storage and transportation
•Temperature: -10°C to +40°C (14–104°F)
•Humidity: 30–75%
•Atmospheric pressure: 700–1,060 hPa
Do not stack more than 5 devices on top of each other and do not store them in a vertical position.
In case of irreparable breakage or end of life equipment’s, dispose the device follow the current
regulations.
In case that the user fails to comply with the above, it assumes full responsibility to create potential effects
on the environment and on human health. There are penalties for illegal disposal of this waste.
Ambient conditions for use
•Temperature: -5°C to +35°C (23–95°F)
•Humidity: 30–75%
•Atmospheric pressure: 700–1,060 hPa
6.2 Maintenance
The consoles don't require periodic maintenance but only extraordinary maintenance.
The parts of medical gases and electrical outlets are separated. During the maintenance of one of the two-
part, special caution is needed to ensure safety to the personnel entrusted with the maintenance of the
medical device system.
6.3 Cleaning
The painting or anodic oxidation guarantee the durability of the external surfaces of the console. The
cleaning should be done using a soft cloth soaked in non-alcoholic disinfectants or not-abrasive detergent.
To clean plastic parts don’t use active solvents.
6.4 Usage
The instructions and specifications included with each console describe the operations and functions of all
installed components: The units are designed for continuous use. Do not place any objects on the top of the
console.
The accessories (infusion stands, rails, etc.) must not be loaded with heavier weights than indicated on the
respective label.
