Safety Instructions
Appropriate Use
 Use t e 233 pump only for dispensing lubricants in
centralized lubrication systems. T e pump is designed
for interval operation.
General Safety Instructions
 LINCOLN - QUICKDATA - centralized lubrication systems
- are state of t e art;
- can be assembled for safe operation
 Incorrect use may result in bearing damage caused by
poor or excessive lubrication.
 Unaut orized modifications or c anges to an installed
system are not admissible. Any modification must be
subject to prior consultation wit t e manufacturer of t e
lubrication system.
Regulations for Prevention of Accidents
 Ad ere to t e regulations for prevention of accidents
w ic are effective in t e country w ere t e system is to
be used.
Operation, Maintenance and Repair
 Repairs s ould only be performed by aut orized and
instructed personnel familiar wit t e regulations.

must be operated only wit fitted pressure relief valve.
 LINCOLN - QUICKDATA - central lubrication pumps 233
must be regularly refilled wit clean lubricant.
Installation
 Any safety equipment already fitted to t e ve icle, device
or mac ine:
- s ould not be modified or made ineffective,
- s ould only be removed for t e purpose of fitting t e
system,
- must be replaced afterwards.
 Keep QUICKDATA centralized lubrication systems away
from sources of eat. Ad ere to t e operating tempera-
ture.
 Use only original LINCOLN spare parts (see Parts
Catalog) or parts approved by LINCOLN.
 Ad ere to:
- t e installation instructions of t e manufacturer of
construction mac inery, ve icles or mac ines as regards
all drilling and welding procedures,
- t e specified minimum distances between t e bore
oles and t e upper/lower rim of t e frame or between
two bore oles.
Attention: Before opening the reser-
voir cover for filling purposes, switch
off the power supply.
Attention: W en filling t e reservoir by
means of pumps with a large delivery
volume do not exceed the max. filling
mark. Risk of bursting if the reservoir
is overfilled!
 LINCOLN - QUICKDATA - central lubrication systems
operate automatically. However, a regular c eck (about
every two weeks) s ould be made to ensure t at
lubricant is actually reac ing all t e lubrication points.
 Defective printed circuit boards s all be suitably packed
and returned to t e factory.
 Dispose of used or contaminated lubricants in
accordance wit t e legislation concerning t e
environment.
 T e manufacturer of t e centralized lubrication system
will not accept any liability for:
- damage caused by insufficient lubricant and irregular
pump refilling,
- damage caused by t e use of used or contaminated
lubricants,
- damages due to t e use of greases w ic are not or only
conditionally pumpable in centralized lubrication
systems,
- damage caused by unaut orized modification of t e
system components,
- damage caused by t e use of unapproved spare parts.

Description of the QUIC DATA 233 Centralized Lubrication Pump
 The QUI KDATA 233 centralized lubrication pump
- is a compact multiline pump consisting of t e following
components:
Housing wit integrated motor
Reservoir wit stirring paddle and fixed paddle
Data logger (control p.c.b. and readable data memory)

Pressure relief valve

 T e QUICKDATA centralized lubrication system is monitored, i.e.
 events suc as malfunctions of t e centralized lubrication systems, faults in t e elapse of t e operating time, low-level
indications, pause times, residual pause times of t e pump are displayed in t e display window of t e membrane key
pad and transferred to t e data logger.
Data logger (data memory)
 Malfunctions (start, end, duration) in t e centralized lubrication system, faults in t e elapse of t e operating time, low-
level indications (start, end, duration), number of connections and disconnections of t e power supply, automatically
triggered lube cycles, manually triggered lube cycles, operating data and customer-related data can be read and
analyzed via laptop, see below diagnostic software QuickData.
 Functions, processes, settings, faults or malfunctions of t e pump and t e system are indicated on t e membrane key
pad as follows, also see below: Adjustment and Operation of t e Control:
 Pump 233 is equipped wit a readable data memory
(data logger) QuickData.
 T e data logger renders information regarding system
settings, events suc as low-level indications, mal-
functions, operating times and lubrication cycles.
 By means of t e Lincoln diagnostic software QuickData
t e above mentioned data can be read on a suitable
laptop via an infrared interface, see below Owner Manual
Diagnostic Software - QuickData.

 T e electric motor drives t e eccentric (1, fig. 7, 8).
 During t e operating time:
- piston 2 sucks in lubricant from t e reservoir, see fig. 7.
- piston 2 dispenses t e lubricant to t e connected
lubrication points via t e metering devices, see fig. 8.
 T e following designs are available:

 T e mode of operation (suction and supply p ase) is t e

output.
 T e lubricant outputs are adjustable from 0.04 to
0.18cm³/ stroke or from 0.7 to 3cm³/ min.
 T e pump elements are factory-set to t e maximum
lubricant output w ereby t e adjusting size S s ould be
29 ± 0.1mm (fig. 12).

 If several pump elements are to be installed, t e installa-
tion arrangement s own in fig. 10 must be ad ered to.
 If t ere is only one pump element, it can be installed in
any position.
 If t ere are two pump elements, install one in position 3
and t e ot er in position 1.

Setting of the output
* Unscrew t e coupling nut for fixing t e pressure relief
valve.
* Loosen counter nut (2, fig. 12) w ile olding in position
pump element body (3) by means of a second wrenc .
* Adjust t e regulating spindle (1) by means of a wrenc ,
see output diagram (fig. 13)
* T e size S (see fig. 12) for t e desired lubricant output
can be ascertained by using t e delivery diagram s own
in fig. 13.
Retrofit adjustment of maximum lubricant output:
Note: In order to ensure that the lubricant output setting will
be as exact as possible first the actual size S of the max.
lubricant output must be ascertained as follows. The measu-
red difference to the nominal value 29 mm must be conside-
red for all other setting values (e.g. ± 0 1).
* Unscrew t e adjusting spindle (1, fig.12) out of t e pump
element body (3) until S is approx. 30 mm.
* Screw counter nut (2) onto stop collar of t e adjusting
spindle (1).
* Screw adjusting spindle (1) wit counter nut (2) into
pump body (3) until stop.
Adjustment of small lubricant output:
* Before t e pump element can be adjusted to a small
lubricant output, t e size S for max. lubricant output
must be ascertained, and t e difference to t e nominal
value 29 mm must be transferred to any desired setting
between 25.5...28.5 mm.
* Dimension S must be adjusted to t e desired value in
accordance wit t e delivery diagram (fig. 13).
Note: At maximum setting S is 29±0.1 mm.

Pressure Relief Valve
Important! Eac pump element must be secured wit a
pressure relief valve.
 T e pressure relief valve
- limits t e pressure build-up in t e system
- opens w en t e respective overpressure is reac ed.
- must be selected according to t e requirements of t e
lubrication system (see different opening pressures: 200,
270, 350 bar).
 If lubricant is leaking at t e pressure relief valve, t is
indicates a malfunction in t e centralized lubrication
system or t e lubrication point.
Note: There may arise a longer time delay between a mal-
function (blockage) and the consequential fault indication
(lubricant leakage; monitory: flashing display of Er on the
membrane key pad).
The duration of the delay depends on the type of line the line
lengths the type of lubricant the ambient temperature and
other influences.
 Despite t e existing failure monitory, carry out a visual
control as well as a function control in regular intervals.
Pressure relief valve with grease return (optional)
 If t e system is blocked, grease will leak from t e pres-
sure relief valve. T is grease quantity is returned to t e
reservoir.

 T e printed circuit board automatically controls t e
sequence of t e pause and operating times of t e 233
centralized lubrication pump as a function of t e ve icle
or mac ine working ours tB (fig. 18).
 T e sequence of t e pause and operating times is
activated w en t e mac ine contact or driving switc is
switc ed on, i.e. t e centralized lubrication pump is ready
for operation.
A lubrication cycle consists of one pause time and one
operating time. Once t e pause time as elapsed, t e
operating time starts to run. T is lubrication cycle is
repeated permanently after t e mac ine or ve icle as
been put into operation (fig. 18).
 During t e operating time t e pump element dispenses
t e lubricant to t e lubrication points via progressive
divider valves.

Pause time
 T e pause time
- determines t e frequency of t e lubrication cycles wit in
a working cycle;
- is started and stopped via t e mac ine contact or driving
switc
- is adjustable
 W en t e mac ine contact or t e driving switc is
switc ed off, t e pause times w ic ave already elap-
sed are stored and added up by an electronic data
memory (EEPROM) until t e time w ic as been set on
t e membrane key pad is reac ed.
 After t e mac ine contact or driving switc is switc ed on
again, t e printed circuit board operates from t e point
w ere it ad been interrupted.
 If t e setting is modified wit in t e pause time, t e
printed circuit board takes over t e new value
automatically on completion of t e programming
procedure (see Programming Mode).
 T e pause time setting may be different for eac applica-
tion. It must be adjusted in accordance wit t e respecti-
ve lubrication cycles (see Programming Mode).
 Standard setting: 6 ours.

Operating time
A piston detector (initiator) w ic as been installed on
a metering device instead of a piston closure plug,
monitors and brings t e pump operating time to a close
after all t e pistons of t is metering device ave dispen-
sed t eir lubricant quantity once.
 T e operating time depends on t e systems lubricant
requirement and on t e location of t e piston detector
(eit er on t e main metering device or on t e secondary
metering device).
 During t e pump operating time a circulating segment
appears in t e display of t e membrane key pad (see
Display of t e membrane key pad).
 After an interruption of t e operating time, e.g. by
switc ing off t e power supply, t e operating time
continues from t e point w ere it ad been interrupted.
 W en t e mac ine contact or t e driving switc is
switc ed off, t e pause times w ic ave already
elapsed are stored and added up by an electronic data
memory (EEPROM) until t e piston detector stops t e
operating time.
Monitoring time
Note: Only one lubrication cycle can be monitored.
 A fixed monitoring time of a maximum of 30 minutes runs
in parallel to t e operating time.
Note: Normally the monitoring time ends at the same time
as the operating time.
 If t ere is no switching off signal from t e piston detector
(fig. 20) to t e printed circuit board wit in 30 minutes a
fault signal will occur (see Display of t e membrane key
pad).
 An external signal lamp flas es continuously in case of a
fault.

Membrane ey pad
 T e membrane key pad serves for:
- displaying functions, faults, low-level indications and time
settings in t e display window 1, fig. 22 (display mode)
- setting t e pause time (programming mode)
- triggering one or several additional lubrications (opera-
ting mode)
- reading of data and events

 As soon as voltage is applied (On), t e lower rig t- and
segment in t e display window flas es (pause time
runs).
 If t e power supply is interrupted during t e pause time,
after switc ing it on again, t e pause time continues at
t e point of interruption.

 During t e operating time of t e pump, a circulating

Additional lubrication
- is triggered via t e key of fig. 25. Press key for more t an
2 seconds.
- can be triggered at any time provided t at voltage is
applied.
Note: If a malfunction is present (flashing display) first
acknowledge the malfunction then trigger an additional
lubrication (see fig. 28).
 If a fault signal (malfunction) is present, it will be
cancelled w enever t e system is operating properly.

Monitoring time/ malfunction
 If t ere is no feedback from t e piston detector (initiator)
wit in 30 minutes (monitoring time) from completion of
t e pause time or from triggering an additional
lubrication, t e pump switc es off immediately. T e fault
signal * Er * (error) is displayed as a flas ing lig t in t e
display of t e membrane key pad.
If a malfunction is present, the pump does not switch
on automatically any longer.

 In t is case, switc on t e pump by pressing t e key for
additional lubrication (fig. 25). Acknowledge t e mal-
function before doing so.
 W en a malfunction is present, it can only be cancelled
by triggering an additional lubrication and after a proper
lubrication cycle as been executed.
 If t e fault is still present after an additional lube cycle
as been triggered, t e fault signal * ER * is again
displayed in t e display of t e membrane key pad.
 T e monitoring time starts at t e same time as t e
operating time. It is a fixed time of 30 minutes.
 If t e voltage supply is interrupted during t e monitoring
p ase (operating time), t e monitoring time starts from
t e beginning after t e pump as been switc ed on
again.
Ac nowleding the malfunction
 On pressing t e key (fig. 28), t e flas ing display * Er *
c anges into a continuous lig t.
 An external signal lamp switc es off.
Low-level indication
 W en t e reservoir is empty t e display on t e
membrane key pad s ows t e flas ing fault signal *LL *.
 T e function of t e low-level control is described on page
17.
 In t e case of a low-level indication t e pump does not
switc off immediately. T e current lube cycle is
completed. Upon expiration of t e pause time, t e pump
cannot be started automatically again. T e flas ing
indication * LL* appears on t e display of t e membrane
key pad (fig. 29).
* Before filling t e reservoir, press t e key, fig. 30, to
acknowledge t e low-level indication.
* Fill pump and trigger additional lubrication. As soon as
t e additional lube cycle as been triggered, t e  LL 
display is cancelled. T e automatic lube cycle resumes.
Ac nowleding the low-level indication
 By pressing t e key (fig. 30) t e flas ing lig t * LL * is
c anged into a continuous lig t (fig. 31).
 An external signal lamp switc es off.
Malfunction/ low-level indication
 If bot indications occur at t e same time, t en bot
displays * Er * and * LL* will flas alternately.

Monitoring relay (on the control p.c.b.)
 T e monitoring relay signalizes a low-level indication or a
malfunction. In bot cases, t e monitoring relay will pick
up. Via a minus potential contact, a signal lamp can be
used as external fault indication w ic as to be
switc ed against plus. W enever t e fault indication is
acknowledged, t e flas ing indication switc es to a
continuous indication.
Note: If the fault has not been put in order properly after
switching the pump off and on an acknowledged fault/ low-
level indication will appear as a flashing indication in the
display window again.

Full reservoir
T e stirring paddle rotates clockwise during t e
operating time.
Due to t e rotating motion of t e stirring paddle in t e
lubricant t e pivoting guiding plate wit t e round soleno-
id , item 1 fig. 33, is pressed backwards. T e solenoid
moves towards t e center of rotation of t e stirring
paddle. T e electromagnetic switc , item 2, cannot be
activated.
Control cam, item 3, guides t e round solenoid wit t e
pivoting guiding plate automatically outwards, in t e
direction of t e reservoir wall. After t e lubricant as left
t e control cam, it flows against t e guiding plate, t us
displacing t e solenoid again onto t e center of rotation
of t e stirring paddle.
Reservoir empty
During t e rotating motion of t e stirring paddle t ere is
no backpressure from t e lubricant. T e guiding plate
wit t e round solenoid no longer moves towards t e
center of rotation of t e stirring paddle. After control cam,
item 3, as been overtravelled, t e solenoid remains in
t e outer position and overruns t e electromagnetic
switc 2. T e solenoid activates t e electromagnetic
switc contact-free t us triggering a low-level signal. T e
operating time is stopped by t e piston detector.
Note: The flashing signal LL appears only after the solenoid
has activated the electromagnetic switch 6 times contact-
free.
Magnetic switch
 T e electromagnetic switc is activated contact-free and
wit out wear by t e magnetic field of t e solenoid fitted to
t e stirring paddle.

Note: The switching parts listed above are not suitable for li-
quid grease. In such a case a float magnetic switch must be
used (see Low-level control for oil).
Reading of the data memory Quic Data
* Read data memory via a suitable laptop wit integrated
or, if not available, external infrared interface (see Owner
Manual Diagnostic Software - QuickData. To be able to
read from t e reading window, place t e infrared inter-
face of t e laptop at a maximum distance of 1m orizon-
tally in front of it, t en read t e data.

Setting and Operation of the Control
 T ree possible modes of operation and settings can be
selected on t e membrane key pad.
Display mode
 As soon as voltage is applied to pump P 233, t e
control is automatically in t e display mode. T e right
segment on t e display is illuminated (On).
 Normally, t e display is dark. Only t e functions (seg-
ment, circulating segment display) or malfunctions
(* Er *, or * LL *) appear illuminated in t e display.
 Display mode
- Here t e user receives information on functions and
malfunctions of pump P 233.
- A test display is made w en t e voltage is applied, all
segments are illuminated for 2 seconds.
Note: If * EP * is displayed after the display test this
indicates that keys of the membrane key pad are defective.
- T e rig t- and segment (On/ ) indicates t e available
voltage supply during t e pause time. As soon as
anot er message is displayed, t e segment turns off.
- T e operating time is displayed as a circulating
segment.
-* Er * is displayed as a flas ing indication for a
malfunction.
-* LL* is displayed as a flas ing indication for a low
level.
- T e flas ing display is c anged into a continuous lig t
by pressing t is key (acknowledging).
To acknowledge, press t e key only briefly (less t an 2
seconds).
 Signals w ic ave been acknowledged but ave not
yet been remedied, flas again after t e pump as been
switc ed off and on again.

Operating mode
Important: T e operating mode is accesible only during t e
pause time and cannot be operated during t e running time
(pump operating time).
 Precondition: W en t e voltage supply is applied, t e
segment (On/ ) is lit.
Operating option: Trigger an additional lube cycle
* Press t is key. T e pause time already elapsed is reset.
T e operating time starts. A circulating segment is
visible on t e display during t e w ole operating time.
Operating option: Read information on how to set the pau-
se time and remaining pause time.
* Press t is key.
Note: The following display sequence is shown twice and
is cancelled after 60 seconds. The change of display occurs
every two seconds. Example:

Note: The minimum pause time begins with 4 minutes.
When pause times < 4 minutes (no indication of hour) the
display automatically indicates . 04. Precondition: The
programming sequence must have been carried out
completely.
Complete programming mode
* Press key.  P - indicates t e programming end.
Important: In order to avoid a wrong programming, make
sure to always carry out t e programming sequence
completely, i.e. setting of P1 ( ours), P2 (minutes) and P-
(programming end).
 Complete t e programming by pressing t is key
(additional lubrication).
Note: If the displayed key additional lubrication is not
pressed within 30 seconds the programming mode
remains in the previously set time.
Important: After completion of t e programming sequence,
also c eck t e setting of t e pause time in t e operating
mode (see page 13).
