Drop Deck Max Recommended Beam

This dimension is measured from the front of the drop beam to the
front of the top stacked beam and does not include where the two
beams overlap. 24" of I-beam overlap is required.

5.3 Units with a 1-¼" receiver hitch need to add 12" to current main rail length to determine I-beam size needed.
5.4 Units with a 2" receiver hitch or rear storage rack need to add 24" to current main rail length to
determine I-beam size needed.
A. * # Of Slides Include: In Frame Slide - In Wall Slide - Above Floor Slide - Outside Kitchen (excludes
slides in the upper deck).
- Outside Kitchen definition: if the opening in the sidewall is larger than 24 square feet or the
opening isn't fully framed inside the sidewall, then it must be counted as a slide out.
B. - Outside Kitchen examples of opening not being fully framed: bottom tube of sidewall removed/
cut out, main floors outside rail removed/cut out for outside kitchen to sit partially below floor.
5.5 Main rail length needs to include drop deck length.
5.6 When a 2" extended length crush tube is used, you can drop a main rail size. See notes in sec. 2.3 for
layout details.
C. ** If chassis meets length/slide count but doesn't meet the GVWR spec, then it must go up to 8"
I-beam size or use a 2" extended crush tube.

6.2 Standard length crush tubes ≤ 4" require a 2x2 - 11ga cross tube support at the front and rear of the
crush tube, also require two full height XMs in the axle area.
Note: Standard length crush tubes ≥ 5" require a 2x4 -11ga cross tube support at the front and rear of the
crush tube, also require two full height XMs in the axle area.
Note: Crush tube taller than 6" needs Lippert management approval.
The Extended Length Crush Tube
6.3 Start a minimum of 12" in front hanger or riser tube and extend 40% of the rear overhang. It also needs
to be rounded up to the nearest 12" increment.
Note: Extended length crush tubes ≥ 4" require a 2x2 - 11ga cross tube supports at the front and rear of
the axle area and extended length crush tubes ≥ 5" require a 2x4 - 11ga at the front and rear of the
axle area.

Outrigger

10.1 Outrigger spacing should be 48" or less.
10.2 Need to have an outrigger on each end of the wheel well area.
10.3 Outrigger height needs to be greater than ½ the main rail height on I-beam frames and full height
on tube & XMC frames. Slide outriggers are an exception.

For a stick/tin build, we require a minimum of two slide
outriggers to be placed in the slide out area. They need

For a laminated build where rollers are mounted to the floor, we require a
minimum of two slide outriggers to be placed in the slide out area. They need
to be placed under the heaviest area of the room. If the room is at least 144", a
third outrigger is required. Add an additional outrigger every 48" thereafter.

10.6 For laminated builds where there is at least 6" of wall structure and rollers are mounted on the wall,
only standard outrigger placement will apply every 48".
10.7 If you have a 12 CU. FT. or larger refrigerator in a slideout, you are required to have two slide
outriggers centered under that section of the slideout, spaced no closer than 12” and no further than 36”.
If refer is near tires, both outriggers need to be placed as close as possible to the refer without causing tire
interference. All other slideout outrigger spacing is still applicable.

Axle Area - FHXM

Defining the axle area
12.1 For all 5th wheels and all toy haulers with crush tube: area within the start of the crush tube to the
rear of the crush tube, not to exceed 12" on either side of the hanger. XM must be inside this area to count
as a XM in the axle area.
12.2 For all 5th wheels and all toy haulers: area starting 6" in front of the front hanger to 6" behind the rear
hanger. XM must be inside this area to count as a XM in the axle area.
12.3 For all conventional TT with or without a crush tube: area starting 12" in front of middle hanger to
rear of rear hanger.

Full Height Cross Member Requirements in the Axle Area
13.1 A full height XM is no shorter than ¾" less than the main rail height. It needs to be a RAXM, XMC, XMZ
and bottom flange must be full length.
13.2 Non toy hauler travel trailers require: 1 full height cross member in the axle area.
13.3 Travel trailers with spread axles (34" axle hanger spacing) require either: 2 full height cross members
in the axle area (one being within 6" of rear hanger) OR 1 full height cross member plus a crush tube.
13.4 Non toy hauler fifth wheels require: 2 full height cross members in the axle area.

18.1 HYD landing gear brackets should mount between 1/2" & 2 1/4" from front of I-beam.
