ThismanualgivesinformationabouttheuseofyourNEW
HOLLANDmachineasintendedandundertheconditions
foreseenbyNEWHOLLANDduringnormaloperation,
routineservice,andmaintenance.
Thismanualdoesnotcontainalltheinformationthatre-
latestoperiodicservice,conversions,andrepairsthat
onlytrainedservicepersonnelcanperform.Someof
theseactivitiesmayrequireappropriatefacilities,techni-
calskills,and/ortoolsthatNEWHOLLANDdoesnotsup-
plywiththemachine.
ThemanualcontainsthechaptersasshownontheCon-
tentspages.SeetheIndexattheendofthismanualtolo-
catespecicitemsaboutyourNEWHOLLANDmachine.
Normaloperation
Normaloperationconsistsoftheuseofthismachinefor
thepurposeNEWHOLLANDintendsbyanoperatorthat:
•Isfamiliarwiththemachineandanymountedequip-
mentortowedequipment
•Complieswiththeinformationonoperationandsafe
practicesasspeciedbyNEWHOLLANDinthisman-
ualandbythesignsonthemachine
Normaloperationincludes:
•Preparationandstorageofthemachine
•Additionandremovalofballast
•Connectionanddisconnectionofmountedequipment
and/ortowedequipment
•Adjustmentandcongurationofthemachineand
equipmentforthespecicconditionsofthejobsite,
eld,and/orcrop
•Movementofcomponentsintoandoutofworkingpo-
sitions
Routineserviceandmaintenance
Routineserviceandmaintenanceconsistsofthedaily
activitiesnecessarytomaintainthepropermachine
function.Theoperatormust:
•Befamiliarwiththemachinecharacteristics
•Complywiththeinformationonroutineserviceandsafe
practicesasspeciedbyNEWHOLLANDinthisman-
ualandbythesignsonthemachine
Routineservicecaninclude:
•Fueling
•Cleaning
•Washing
•T oppingupuidlevels
•Greasing
•Replacingconsumableitemssuchaslightbulbs
Periodicservice,conversions,andrepairs
Periodicserviceconsistsofactivitiesthatarenecessary
tomaintaintheexpectedlifeoftheNEWHOLLANDma-
chine.Theseactivitieshavedenedintervals.
Trainedservicepersonnelfamiliarwiththemachinechar-
acteristicsmustperformtheseactivitiesatthedened
intervals.Trainedservicepersonnelmustcomplywith
theinformationonperiodicserviceandsafepracticesas
partlyspeciedbyNEWHOLLANDinthismanualand/or
othercompanyliterature.
Periodicserviceincludes:
•Oilchangeservicefortheengine,hydrauliccircuits,or
transmission
•Periodicexchangeofothersubstancesorcomponents
asrequired
ConversionactivitiesrebuildtheNEWHOLLAND
machineinacongurationthatisappropriatefora
specicjobsite,crop,and/orsoilconditions(e.g.,
installationofdualwheels).Conversionactivitiesmust
bedone:
•Bytrainedservicepersonnelfamiliarwiththemachine
characteristics
•Bytrainedservicepersonnelthatcomplywiththe
informationonconversionaspartlyspeciedbyNEW
HOLLANDinthismanual,assemblyinstructions,
and/orothercompanyliterature
RepairactivitiesrestoreproperfunctiontoaNEWHOL-
LANDmachineafterafailureordegradationofperfor-
mance.Dismantlingactivitiesoccurduringthescrapping
and/ordismantlingofthemachine.
Trainedservicepersonnelfamiliarwiththemachinechar-
acteristicsmustperformtheseactivities.Trainedservice
personnelmustcomplywiththeinformationforrepairas
speciedbyNEWHOLLANDintheservicemanual.

Soil,air,andwaterqualityisimportantforallindustries
andlifeingeneral.Whenlegislationdoesnotyetrulethe
treatmentofsomeofthesubstancesthatadvancedtech-
nologyrequires,soundjudgmentshouldgoverntheuse
anddisposalofproductsofachemicalandpetrochemical
nature.
Familiarizeyourselfwiththerelativelegislationapplica-
bletoyourcountry,andmakesurethatyouunderstand
thislegislation.Wherenolegislationexists,obtainin-
formationfromsuppliersofoils,lters,batteries,fuels,
anti-freeze,cleaningagents,etc.,withregardtotheef-
fectofthesesubstancesonmanandnatureandhowto
safelystore,use,anddisposeofthesesubstances.Your
NEWHOLLANDdealercanalsoprovideassistance.
Helpfulhints
•Avoidtheuseofcansorotherinappropriatepressur-
izedfueldeliverysystemstolltanks.Suchdelivery
systemsmaycauseconsiderablespillage.
•Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils,acids,
solvents,etc.Mostoftheseproductscontainsub-
stancesthatmaybeharmfultoyourhealth.
•Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburncontami-
natedfuelsandorwasteoilsinordinaryheatingsys-
tems.
•Avoidspillagewhenyoudrainuidssuchasuseden-
ginecoolantmixtures,engineoil,hydraulicuid,brake
uid,etc.Donotmixdrainedbrakeuidsorfuelswith
lubricants.Storealldraineduidssafelyuntilyoucan
disposeoftheuidsinaproperwaythatcomplieswith
alllocallegislationandavailableresources.
•Donotallowcoolantmixturestogetintothesoil.Col-
lectanddisposeofcoolantmixturesproperly.
•Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself.It
containsgasesthatshouldnotbereleasedintotheat-
mosphere.YourNEWHOLLANDdealerorair-condi-
tioningspecialisthasaspecialextractorforthispur-
poseandcanrechargethesystemproperly.
•Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecoolingsys-
temorhydraulicsystemimmediately.
•Donotincreasethepressureinapressurizedcircuitas
thismayleadtoacomponentfailure.
•Protecthosesduringwelding.Penetratingweldsplatter
mayburnaholeorweakenhoses,allowingthelossof
oils,coolant,etc.
