Product overview2
The environmental monitoring sensor (EMS-U01) along with selected Power
Management Cards (PMCARD) enables users to monitor the temperature
and humidity of a server closet and/or data center remotely. Addionally, the
EMS-U01 provides 4 input dry contacts that enable users to monitor the sta-
tus of connected devices, such as door switch sensors.
Features include:
• Real me environment monitoring
• Remote management and conguraon of the sensor via Web Browsers
or NMS
• Automac events nocaon via email, SMS and SNMP traps
• 4 input dry contacts applicaon interface provided
• Displays the name and locaon of the sensor and connected devices

4.1. Method 1: Hook and Loop
Tape Mounng
Step 1. Clean the surface of the area where
the sensor will be installed. Apply
one side of the hook and loop tape
to the boom of the sensor and the
other side to the sensor locaon.
Step 2. Aach the sensor on the surface and
hold for about 5 seconds to ensure
cohesion.
NOTE!
Once the sensor is installed, you will want to
leave it in place to ensure the hook and loop
tape.
Step 3. To connect the sensor with PM-
CARD, use the aached RJ45 Eth-
ernet Cable. Plug one end into the
RJ45 Port and the other end into the
PMCARD.
NOTE!
If the distance of PMCARD and the sensor is
longer than 10 feet/3.05 m, use a standard RJ45
Ethernet Cable as needed (max 50 feet/15 m).

4.2. Method 2: Fixed Mounng
Step 1. Drill a hole that is compable with the anchor and insert the includ-
ed anchor.
Step 2. Insert and ghten the screw into the anchor. Leave enough of the
screw exposed for the sensor to be mounted to.
Step 3. Hang the sensor horizontally or vercally.

Step 4. To connect the sensor with PMCARD, use the aached RJ45 Ether-
net Cable. Plug one end into the RJ45 Port and the other end into
the PMCARD.

5.1. FCC Warning
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits
are designed to provide reasonable protecon against harmful interference
in a residenal installaon. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate
radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with
the instrucons, may cause harmful interference to radio communicaons.

• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit dierent from that to
which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
This device compiles with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operaon is subject to
the following two condions: (1) this device may not cause harmful inter-
ference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operaon.
NOTE!
The manufacturer is not responsible for any radio or tv interference caused by
unauthorized to this equipment. Such modifications could void the user’s authority
to operate the equipment.

Problem Soluon
The PMCARD is not
able to acquire en-
vironment sensor’s
informaon.
Check the LED.
When the connecon is ok, the LED should always
be on; otherwise, ensure the RJ45 Ethernet cable is
correctly connected to the PMCARD and sensor.
NOTE!
Do not use a crossover cable which is for Tx/Rx.
The Input Dry
Contact does not
funcon correctly.
Ensure the Input Dry Contact wires are correctly
connected and make sure the open/short circuit
seng of the connected devices is the same as the
seng on the Web Interface.

7.1. Input Dry Contact Applicaon
Do not input signals that carry voltage into the input dry contacts. The input
dry contacts only allow for open/short circuit.
This product can expose you to chemicals including Styrene, which
is known to the State of California to cause cancer, and Bisphenol-A,
which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or
other reproductive harm.
