GENERAL PRECAUTIONS REGARDING THE SERVICE FOR THIS EQUIPMENT
The installation and service shall be done by a qualified service technician.
1. Transportation/Installation
- Whentransporting/installingtheequipment,employtwoormorepersonsand besure
to hold the positions as shown in the figure.The equipment is quite heavy and weighs
approximately55kg(121.23 lb.)(includingthenisher), thereforepayfullattentionwhen
handling it.
- Besurenottoholdthemovablepartsorunits(e.g.thecontrolpanel,ADUorRADF)when
transportingtheequipment.
- BesuretouseadedicatedoutletwithAC110V/15A,120V/12A,220-240V/8Aforitspower
source.
- Theequipmentmustbegroundedforsafety.
- Selectasuitableplaceforinstallation.Avoidexcessiveheat,highhumidity,dust,vibration
and direct sunlight.
- Toinsureadequateworkingspaceforthecopyingoperation,keepaminimumclearanceof
30cm(12”)ontheleft,30cm(12”)ontherightand60cm(24”)ontherear.
- Theequipmentshallbeinstallednearthesocketoutletandshallbeaccessible.
- Be sure to fix and plug in the power cable securely after the installation so that no one trips
over it.
- If the unpacking place and where the equipment is to be installed differ, perform image
qualityadjustment(automaticgammaadjustment)accordingtothetemperatureand
humidity of the place of installation and the paper to be used.
- Iftheequipmenthascasters,lockthemaftertheinstallation.

2. General Precautions at Service
- Be sure to turn the power OFF and unplug the power cable during service (except for the
service should be done with the power turned ON).
- Unplug the power cable and clean the area around the prongs of the plug and socket outlet
once a year or more. A fire may occur when dust lies on this area.
- Whenthepartsaredisassembled,reassemblyisthereverseofdisassemblyunless
otherwise noted in this manual or other related documents. Be careful not to install small
partssuchasscrews,washers,pins,E-rings,starwashers,harnessesinthewrongplaces.
- Basically,theequipmentshouldnotbeoperatedwithanypartsremovedordisassembled.
- The PC board must be stored in an anti-electrostatic bag and handled carefully using a
antistatic wrist strap since the ICs on it may be damaged due to static electricity.
Caution: Beforeusingtheantistaticwriststrap,unplugthepowercableoftheequipment
andmakesurethattherearenochargedobjectswhicharenotinsulatedinthe
vicinity.
- Be sure not to touch high-temperature sections such as the fuser unit and areas around
them.
- Besurenottotouchhigh-voltagesectionssuchasthechargers,transferbelt,developer,
high-voltagetransformer,andpowersupplyunit.Especially,theboardofthese
componentsshouldnotbetouchedsincetheelectricchargemayremaininthecapacitors,
etc. on them even after the power is turned OFF.
- Makesurethattheequipmentwillnotoperatebeforetouchingpotentiallydangerousplaces
(e.g.rotating/operatingsectionssuchasgears,beltspulleys,andfans).
- Be careful when removing the covers since there might be the parts with very sharp edges
underneath.
- WhenservicingtheequipmentwiththepowerturnedON,besurenottotouchlivesections
and rotating/operating sections.
- Usedesignatedjigsandtools.
- Userecommendedmeasuringinstrumentsorequivalents.
- Return the equipment to the original state and check the operation when the service is
finished.
- Be very careful to treat the touch panel gently and never hit it. Breaking the surface could
cause malfunctions.
3. Important Service Parts for Safety
- The door switch, fuse, thermostat, thermofuse, thermistor, batteries, IC-RAMs including
lithium batteries, etc. are particularly important for safety. Be sure to handle/install them
properly.Ifthesepartsareshort-circuitedandtheirfunctionsbecomeineffective,theymay
result in fatal accidents such as a burnout. Avoid short-circuiting and do not use parts not
recommendedbyOKIDATACorporation.

- Regardingtherecoveryanddisposaloftheequipment,supplies,packingmaterials,used
batteries and IC-RAMs including lithium batteries, follow the relevant local regulations or
rules.
- Never attempt to incinerate a used transfer belt unit. This could cause an explosion and
burn you since the toner inside would be scattered.

ALLEGEMEINE SICHERHEITSMASSNAHMEN IN BEZUG AUF DIE WARTUNG
Die Installation und die Wartung sind von einem qualifizierten Service-

1. Transport/Installation
- Das Tragen oder Installieren des Gerätes braucht wenigstens zwei Menschen. Die

- Während derWartung das Gerät ausschalten und das Netzkabel herausziehen (ausser
Wartung,diebeieinemeingeschaltetenGerät,durchgeführtwerdenmuss).
- Das Netzkabel herausziehen und den Bereich um die Steckerpole und die Steckdose die
Umgebung in der Nähe von den Steckerzacken und der Steckdose wenigstens einmal
imJahrreinigen.WennStaub sichindieserGegendansammelt,kanndiesein Feuer
verursachen.
- Wenn dieTeile auseinandergenommen werden, wenn nicht anders in diesem Handbuch
uswerklärt,istdasZusammenbaueninumgekehrterReihenfolgedurchzuführen.
Aufpassen,dasskleineTeilewieSchrauben,Dichtungsringe,Bolzen,E-Ringe,Stern-
Dichtungsringe,KabelbäumenichtandenverkehrtenStelleneingebautwerden.
- Grundsätzlich darf das Gerät mit enfernten oder auseinandergenommenen Teilen nicht in
Betrieb genommen werden.
- Das PC-Board muss in einer Anti-elektrostatischen Hülle gelagert werden. Nur Mit einer
Manschette bei Betätigung eines Armbandes anfassen, sonst könnte es sein, dass die
integrierten Schaltkreise durch statische Elektrizität beschädigt werden.
Vorsicht:VorBenutzungderManschettederBetätigungdesArmbandes,dasNetzkabel
des Gerätes herausziehen und prüfen, dass es in der Nähe keine geladenen
Gegenstände,dienichtisoliertsind,gibt.
- AufkeinenFallHochtemperaturbereiche,wiedieFixiereinheitunddieumliegenden
Bereiche,berühren.
- AufkeinenFallHochspannungsbereiche,wiedieLadeeinheiten,dasTransferband,
dieEntwicklereinheit,denHochspannungstransformatorunddasNetzgerät,berühren.
InsbesonderesolltendiePlatinendieserKomponenten nichtberührtwerden,dadie

2.1 Removal and Installation of Options
Important:
• Beforeinstallingorremovingoptions,turnthemainpowerswitchoffanddisconnectthe
2 power cable from the outlet.
2.1.1 MJ-1038(Innernisher)
(1) Press the [Power] button on the control panel to shut it down.
(2) Turnthemainpowerswitchoftheequipmentoff.
(3) Disconnect the power cable.
(4) Open the scanner.
