You have purchased a high-quality product which can be put to versatile, daily use at home and outdoors.
Please read these instructions for use before you start using the product. Familiarise yourself with the handling,
functions and use of the product before using it. Observe all safety information and instructions in order to prevent
the possibility of injury. Store these instructions for use in a safe place for future reference.
Please note the following in particular:
• Attendants should also be instructed in the use of the product by qualified personnel with the help of these
instructions for use.
• The product has been adapted to the needs of the user. Further changes may be made only by qualified per
sonnel. We recommend checking the product settings regularly in order to assure an optimum fit over the long
term. For growing children and youths in particular, fitting should be performed every six months.
• In case of questions or problems, please consult the qualified personnel that adapted the product or the manu
facturer's service (see inside back cover or back page for addresses).
• The product may be combined only with the options listed here. The manufacturer assumes no liability for com
binations with third-party medical devices and/or accessories not included in the modular system. Please also
observe the information in the section "Liability".
• Service and repairs to the product may only be carried out by qualified personnel. If you have any problems,
please contact your specialist dealer. This ensures that any necessary repairs will be made exclusively with
Ottobock spare parts.
• Your product may differ from the models shown. In particular, not all the options described in these instruc
tions for use will be installed on your product.
• The manufacturer reserves the right to make technical changes to the model described in these instructions for
use.
2 Product Description
2.1 Function
This seating unit for a rehab buggy is intended solely for transporting children with walking disabilities or who are
unable to walk.
This seating unit for a rehab buggy has only been approved for transporting one child aged approx. 1to10 years
(depending on the size and weight of the child). It is operated by an attendant (conveyance by another person).
This seating unit for a rehab buggy can be used indoors and outdoors. It is fully adjustable to provide an optimised,
individual fitting.

Injuries due to user error
►Read the instructions for use before using the product.
►Familiarise yourself with the handling, functions and use of the product before using it. The safety of the user
may be compromised if you do not follow these instructions.
3.3 Safety Instructions for Use
INFORMATION
The seating unit is intended for use with the Kimba Neo outdoor mobility base. Observe safety information in the
647G891 Instructions for Use.
Hazards during preparation for use
WARNING
Independent modification of settings
Serious injuries to the user due to unallowable changes to the product
►Do not modify the settings established by the qualified personnel. Only the settings described in the section
"Usage" in these instructions for use may be adjusted independently.
►In case of problems with the settings (unsatisfactory seating position, front wheels wobble, etc.) please con
tact the qualified personnel who adjusted your product.
►Discuss all changes to the settings with the qualified personnel/therapist in advance in order to minimise
health hazards and avoid putting the therapy results at risk.
WARNING
Improper handling of packaging materials
Risk of suffocation due to neglect of the duty to supervise
►Packaging materials must be kept out of the reach of children.
Hazard in case of broken skin
CAUTION
Prolonged contact with broken skin
Reddening of the skin or pressure points due to contamination with germs or incorrectly adapted seat cushion
►Check before using the product that the skin is not broken in areas subject to prolonged pressure (e.g., but
tocks, back and rear side of the thighs).
►In case of problems, please contact the qualified personnel who adjusted the product.
►No liability is assumed for injuries caused by the use of the product with broken skin.
Hazards due to fire, heat and cold
CAUTION
Seat cushion or back upholstery may ignite
Burns due to user error
►The seat cushion and back upholstery are flame retardant but nevertheless flammable. Therefore the utmost
caution must be exercised in the vicinity of an open flame.
►Keep away from all ignition sources, especially lit cigarettes.
CAUTION
Extreme temperatures
Hypothermia or burns through contact with components, failure of components
►Do not expose the product to any extreme temperatures (e.g. direct sunlight, sauna, extreme cold).

3.3.1 Further information
INFORMATION
Even in the event of compliance with all applicable guidelines and standards, alarm systems (e.g. in department
stores) may respond to your product. Should this happen, remove your product from the area where the alarm
was triggered.

4 Delivery
4.1 Scope of Delivery
The scope of delivery includes:
• Kimba Neo seating unit
• Options according to the order
• Adjustable footrest
• Instructions for use (user)
4.2 Storage
The seating unit must be stored in a dry place. An ambient temperature between -10°C and +40°C must be main
tained. Direct exposure to sunlight or UV radiation causes the product to age more quickly. This causes the materi
al surface to harden.
5 Preparation for Use
5.1 Assembly

Mounting the seat
1) Place the seat on the rear tube of the seat adapter at an angle of approximately 45° (see Fig.3).
2) Press the front edge of the seat onto the mobility base until the gripper jaw audibly snaps on to the front tube of
the seat adapter (see Fig.4).
3) Slide the seat lock to the left to engage it (see Fig.5).
4) Check that the seat and the mobility base are securely connected. You can do this, for example, by pulling
back the backrest.

6.1 Information on use

►In the interest of the user's safety, check the product for correct function before each use.
►Please also read the instructions in the section "Maintenance" > "Maintenance intervals".

Please also observe the safety instructions in the section "Safety" > "Safety instructions for use".
In the interest of user safety, the following inspection must be conducted prior to use:
1) Verify firm locking of the seat and back angle adjustment mechanism.
2) Verify the functionality of all belt buckles on the safety belts and/or positioning aids.
6.2 Basic functions of the Kimba Neo seating unit
INFORMATION
Adjusting the seat and back angle is not possible in combination with the Kimba Cross and Kimba Inline mobility
bases.
6.2.1 Removing and mounting the seating unit
CAUTION
Incorrect mounting of the seating unit
Falling out of the user if the seating unit is not secured
►Secure the seating unit using the seat lock.
►When attaching the seating unit, make sure you hear it engage into the mobility base.
To facilitate transportation of the rehab buggy in a passenger vehicle or to divide the weight into two units for lift
ing, the seating unit can be easily detached from and reattached to the outdoor mobility base.
Detaching the seating unit
1) Slide the seat lock to the right to open it (see Fig.6).
2) Stand next to the seating unit and hold the seat by the top of the backrest with one hand.
3) Pull the release lever located under the seat up to the edge of the seat (see Fig.7).
→The clutch will now release the seat adapter.
4) Tip the seat back at an angle of approx. 45° and then lift it up (see Fig.3).

Mounting the seating unit

Rotating and mounting the seating unit
If the seat is rotated before mounting, the tilt-limiting mechanism then has to be adjusted for safety reasons. See
the section "Assembly: Mounting the Seating Unit" and the two sections that follow.
6.2.2 Rotating the seating unit
CAUTION
Non-activated tilt-limiting mechanism
Falling out of the user due to user error
►Before rotating the seating unit, always adjust the tilt-limiting mechanism.
The seating unit can be mounted onto the mobility base in two directions (facing forward or backward) (see Fig.9,
see Fig.10).
To remount the seating unit after rotating it 180°, the tilt limit must be adjusted (see the following section).

6.2.3 Adjusting the tilt-limiting mechanism after rotating the seat
Adjusting the tilt-limiting mechanism after rotating the seat is described in the mobility base instructions for use.
6.2.4 Adjusting the back angle
CAUTION
Change in centre of gravity following back angle adjustment
Falling over, falling out of the user due to adjustment errors
►After each modification of the back angle, check the tilt stability. To do so, hold the product with both hands
by the push handle/push bar.
The backrest can be adjusted as needed in a range from 90° to 180°:
1) Twist the lower knob counterclockwise to release the back angle adjustment (see Fig.11).

2) Move the backrest forward/backward to the desired position. The maximum position is lying flat (see Fig.12)
INFORMATION: Please note that in the maximum position (lying flat), the footrest must be adjusted so
that the user's feet can comfortably reach it.
3) Turn the knob clockwise to fixate the back angle.

6.2.5 Adjusting the seat angle
CAUTION
Incorrect use of the seat tilt feature
Tipping over, falling from the seating shell/seating system due to user error
►Practise the operation of the seat angle adjustment mechanism without the seated user at first.
►Only operate the seat angle adjustment mechanism on a level, firm surface.
►Only negotiate slopes and obstacles in the horizontal neutral position of the seat. Tilting the seat angle back
slightly when driving downhill is recommended.
►Only negotiate slopes where the holding forces remain manageable.
►When adjusting the seat tilt feature, secure the user from falling out to the front or rear. In order to do so,
firmly hold on to the push handle/push bar while operating the seat angle adjustment mechanism.
►Do not reach into the adjustment mechanism when changing the seat tilt settings.
INFORMATION
The function of the upper knob for the adjustment mechanism is not available on all outdoor mobility bases. The
procedure described below refers to the functions of the Kimba Neo seating unit when it is ordered and delivered
together with the Kimba Neo mobility base. Deviating from this, the seat angle adjustment release can be moun
ted on the outdoor mobility base. Please observe the information given in the outdoor mobility base instructions
for use.
The seat can be adjusted as needed within a range of -10° to +35°:
1) Twist the upper knob clockwise to release the adjustment mechanism (see Fig.13).
NOTICE! Damage to the seat adjustment. Turn the knob with normal manual force to the stop, until
you feel a clear resistance. Excessive turning of the knob will damage the adjustment mechanism.
2) Set the seat angle to the desired position (see Fig.14).
CAUTION! With one hand, secure the occupant against falling out (e.g. by holding the upper body).
3) Release the knob.
→The adjustment mechanism will lock automatically.
4) Press the backrest gently to the front/back to make sure that the seat angle is securely set. If this is not the
case, the position of the upper knob must be checked.

6.2.6 Adjusting the footrest
CAUTION
Getting into buggy when the footrest is folded down is dangerous
Falling, tipping over of the user due to user error
►Fold up the footrest before getting in.
CAUTION
Improper lifting by attendants
Tipping over, falling of the user due to lifting on removable components
►Attendants may lift the buggy only by welded or permanently attached components. It is particularly danger
ous to lift the buggy by the footrest, push bar, lap bar, or armrests.
6.2.6.1 Adjusting the knee angle
The knee angle of the footrest can be adjusted within a range of 0° to +90° as needed:
1) Open the adjustment lever (see Fig.15).
2) Adjust the knee angle.
3) Firmly close the adjustment lever.
4) Prior to use, check the secure position of the footrest. To do so, press the footrest down.
→The knee angle must not change.

6.2.6.2 Folding up the footrest
The footrest can be folded up for transport.
Standard footrest
1) Hold the edge of the footrest (see Fig.16, item 1) and fold it up (see Fig.16, item 2).
2) The footrest can be unfolded again by pressing down on it.
Angle-adjustable footrest (optional)
1) Pull the release strap (see Fig.17).

2) Fold up the footrest.
3) The footrest can be unfolded again by pressing down on it. It locks into place automatically.

6.3 Additional options
6.3.1 Headrests
The seat of the rehab buggy can be equipped with headrests that provide additional support for certain indications.
6.3.1.1 Headrest supports
In this option (see Fig.18), the free space in the head region is adjusted by shifting the supports in the vertical
slots (large adjustment range).
The option has been preset by qualified personnel.
6.3.1.2 Integrated headrests
With this option (see Fig.19), the free space in the head region is adjusted through the insertion of foam pads into
the lateral supports (adjustment range: 30mm in 1mm increments).
The option has been preset by qualified personnel.

6.3.2 Safety belts
WARNING
Use of the belt system as a restraint system in a wheelchair accessible vehicle is forbidden
Falling out of the product, serious injuries due to improper handling of the product
►Under no circumstances may the belt system be used as part of a restraint system when transporting the user
in a vehicle for transporting the disabled.
►Note that the belt system is only intended as additional stabilisation for the user sitting in the rehab buggy.

WARNING
Incorrect application of the belt system/positioning aid
Strangulation, suffocation due to incorrectly positioned safety belts/positioning aids
►Follow the instructions for proper application so that the user cannot slip into a position that would endanger
him or her.
►Note that the user's back must be up against the back upholstery when securing the belt system/positioning
aid and during use of the product.
►Do not use safety belts or positioning aids if the user is able to sit without them.
The product can be equipped with different types of safety belts.
The option has been installed and preset by qualified personnel. If the option has been adjusted too tightly or can
not be engaged, the safety belt can be subsequently adjusted.
6.3.2.1 Lap belt
The seating unit can be equipped with a lap belt. It provides additional support for the pelvis and keeps the user
from sliding out of the seat (see Fig.20).
Adjusting the belt
1) Pull the belt out of the belt restraint (see Fig.21, item 1).
2) Close the belt buckle firmly (see Fig.21, item 2) and pull the belt in the desired direction.
Make sure that the belt extends at least 20mm beyond the buckle so that the belt restraint can be pushed over
the loose end.
3) Thread the belt back into the belt restraint (see Fig.21, item 1).
Using the belt
1) To open the belt buckle, push the “press” button (see Fig.20, item 1).
2) Sit the user into the seat.
3) To close the belt, slide the metal tab into the buckle until you hear it click.

6.3.2.2 Four-point belt
The seating unit can be equipped with a four-point belt (see Fig.23). It additionally stabilises the pelvis and
shoulders and prevents the user from sliding out of the seat. The buckle makes it easy to get in and out.
Adjusting the belt
1) The setting of the lap belt part corresponds to the setting of the lap belt (see Page15)
INFORMATION: If the lap belt was run under the padding, the closures of the backrest pad must be
opened.
2) Adjust the shoulder straps using the clip buckles at the base of the backrest (see Fig.27).
→The four-point belt is adjusted correctly when the closed belt buckle lies against the child's abdomen (see
Fig.24).
Using the belt
1) Press the release button to open the belt (see Fig.23, item 1).
2) Move the shoulder/lap belt straps to the side.
3) Sit the user into the seat.

4) Place the belt over his/her shoulders (see section "Five-point belt").
5) Make sure the two belt tabs click into the buckle (see Fig.23, item 2).

6.3.2.3 Five-point belt
The seating unit can be equipped with a five-point belt (see Fig.24). It additionally stabilises the pelvis and
shoulders and prevents the user from sliding out of the seat. The buckle makes it easy to get in and out.
Adjusting the belt
1) Lengthen/shorten the crotch strap at the belt buckle (see Fig.25).
2) Adjust the lap-belt part behind the seat using the adjustment buckle (see Fig.26).
INFORMATION: If the lap belt was run under the padding, the closures of the backrest pad must be
opened.
3) Adjust the shoulder straps using the clip buckles at the base of the backrest (see Fig.27, item1 and item2).
→The five-point belt is adjusted correctly when the closed belt buckle lies against the child's abdomen (see
Fig.24).

Using the belt
1) Press the red button to unfasten the belt (see Fig.24, item 1).
2) Move the shoulder/lap belt straps to the side.
3) Sit the user into the seat.
4) Place the belt over his/her shoulders.
5) Make sure the two belt tabs click into the buckle (see Fig.29).

6.3.3 Positioning aids
WARNING
Use of the belt system as a restraint system in a wheelchair accessible vehicle is forbidden
Falling out of the product, serious injuries due to improper handling of the product
►Under no circumstances may the belt system be used as part of a restraint system when transporting the user
in a vehicle for transporting the disabled.
►Note that the belt system is only intended as additional stabilisation for the user sitting in the rehab buggy.
WARNING

6.3.3.1 Thoracic supports
The seating unit can be equipped with thoracic supports that provide additional support to the upper body for cer
tain indications (see Fig.30).
The option has been preset by qualified personnel.

6.3.3.2 Abductor
The seating unit can be equipped with an abductor (see Fig.31) that ensures that the legs are abducted (spread to
the sides) from the centre of the body for certain indications.
The option has been preset by qualified personnel.
6.3.3.3 Pelvic band
INFORMATION
For further information, please see the instructions for use included with the product.
The seating unit can be equipped with a pelvic band (see Fig.32) that secures the pelvis in the seat for certain
indications.
Opening the pelvic band
1) Press on the back end of a buckle with the thumb/forefinger (see Fig.33).
2) Pull out the plastic belt while holding the buckle down.
Fastening the pelvic band
1) Sit the user into the seat. Make sure that the user's buttocks are up against the backrest padding.
2) Press on the back end of a buckle with your forefinger (see Fig.33).
3) Insert the plastic belt while holding the buckle down.
CAUTION! If the pelvic band is too loose, the pelvis can slide forward and lead to incorrect positioning
or cause the user to slide out of the buggy. Make sure the user is correctly positioned in the seat.

6.3.3.4 Chest and shoulder support
INFORMATION

The seating unit can be equipped with a chest and shoulder support that secures the trunk in the seat for certain
indications (see Fig.34). It is used to achieve upright symmetrical position of the pelvis and trunk.

Adjusting the chest and shoulder support
The adjustment of the final belt tension takes place when putting it on by adjusting the belt length at the two pairs
of clip buckles on the back of the seat (see Fig.35, item 1).

Putting on the chest and shoulder support
1) If needed: Before putting the user into the seat, unfasten the clip buckles at the back of the seat (see Fig.35,
item1) and pull the belt straps of the chest and shoulder support forward somewhat.
2) Unfasten the bottom belt straps of the chest and shoulder support at the clip buckles (see Fig.36/see Fig.37,
item 1), pull the belt straps through and move the chest and shoulder support back.
3) Sit the user into the seat. Make sure that the user's back is up against the backrest padding.
4) Pull the chest and shoulder support over the user's head onto his or her chest.
5) Put the lower belt straps of the chest and shoulder support into the clip buckles (see Fig.36/see Fig.37, item
1).
6) If needed: Tighten the belt straps in the clip buckles at the back of the seat and fasten them (see Fig.35, item
1). Make sure that the chest and shoulder support lies symmetrically on the pelvis.
CAUTION! If the chest and shoulder support is too loose, the user can slide forward. This may lead to
incorrect positioning or cause the user to slide out of the buggy. Please ensure that the child is posi
tioned correctly in the seat. The lower support belts must lie firmly against the spinae.

6.3.3.5 Fixation vest

The seating unit can be equipped with a fixation vest that secures the trunk in the seat for certain indications (see
Fig.38). The fixation vest does not provide any support for the pelvis.
Adjusting the fixation vest
The adjustment of the final belt tension takes place when putting it on by adjusting the belt length at the six clip
buckles on the back of the seat (see Fig.39).

Putting on the fixation vest
1) Unfasten the hook-and-loop tabs over the zipper (see Fig.38, item 1).
2) Unzip the zipper (see Fig.38, item 2).
3) If needed: Before putting the user into the seat, unfasten the clip buckles at the back of the seat and pull the
belt straps of the fixation vest forward somewhat (see Fig.39).
4) Sit the user into the seat. Make sure that the user's back is up against the backrest padding.
5) Close the zipper (see Fig.38, item 2).
6) If needed: Tighten the belt straps in the clip buckles at the back of the seat (see Fig.39, item 3) and fasten
them.
7) Close the hook-and-loop tabs over the zipper (see Fig.38, item 1). In daily use, the fixation vest can also
be put on/removed by opening/closing the clips on the front (see Fig.40, item 1/2).

6.3.3.6 Groin strap

The seating unit can be equipped with a groin strap that secures the pelvis in the seat for certain indications (see
Fig.41).
Adjusting the groin strap
The adjustment of the final belt tension takes place when putting it on as follows:
• Adjusting the belt length at the two clip buckles on the back of the seat (see Fig.42, item 1).
• Adjusting the belts in the strap adjustment at the leg straps (see Fig.43, item 1).
Putting on the groin strap
1) If needed: Open the clip buckles and pull the belt straps of the leg straps to the front somewhat (see Fig.42,
item 1).
2) Open the two clips at the leg straps by pressing on the fastener tabs (see Fig.43, item 1).
3) Place the user on the groin strap and thread the leg straps between the legs and over the thighs to the outside
(see Fig.41).
