Die Gebrauchsanweisung gibt Ihnen wichtige Informationen für das Anpas
sen und Anlegen der Sprunggelenkorthese Malleo Sprint light 50S16-7.
2 Verwendung
2.1 Verwendungszweck
Die Orthese ist ausschließlich zur orthetischen Versorgung der unteren Ex
tremität einzusetzen und ausschließlich für den Kontakt mit intakter Haut
bestimmt.
Die Orthese muss indikationsgerecht eingesetzt werden.
2.2 Indikationen
• funktionelle Behandlung von Bandinstabilitäten
• postoperative Behandlung von Bandrupturen
• Sprunggelenkdistorsionen
• funktionell-konservative Therapie von Außenbandrupturen
Die Indikation wird vom Arzt gestellt.
2.3 Kontraindikationen
2.3.1 Absolute Kontraindikationen
Nicht bekannt.
2.3.2 Relative Kontraindikationen
Bei nachfolgenden Indikationen ist eine Rücksprache mit dem Arzt erforder
lich: Hauterkrankungen/-verletzungen, Entzündungen, aufgeworfene Narben
mit Schwellung, Rötung und Überwärmung im versorgten Körperabschnitt;
Krampfadern stärkeren Ausmaßes, insbesondere mit Rückfluss-Störungen,
Lymphabfluss-Störungen – auch unklare Weichteilschwellungen körperfern
des Hilfsmittels; Empfindungs- und Durchblutungsstörungen im Bereich des
Fußes, z.B. bei diabetischer Neuropathie.

2.4 Wirkungsweise
Die Orthese stabilisiert das Sprunggelenk durch die Gurtführung. Eversion
und Inversion des Fußgelenks werden eingeschränkt, ohne dabei die
Plantar- und Dorsalflexion negativ zu beeinflussen.
3 Sicherheit

►Beachten Sie die Sicherheitshinweise dieser Gebrauchsanweisung.
►Geben Sie alle Sicherheitshinweise an den Patienten weiter, die mit
„Informieren Sie den Patienten.“ gekennzeichnet sind.

►Setzen Sie das Produkt keinen fett- und säurehaltigen Mitteln, Salben
und Lotionen aus.
►Informieren Sie den Patienten.
4 Handhabung
INFORMATION
►Die tägliche Tragedauer und der Anwendungszeitraum werden in der
Regel vom Arzt festgelegt.
►Die erstmalige Anpassung und Anwendung des Produkts darf nur
durch Fachpersonal erfolgen.
►Weisen Sie den Patienten in die Handhabung und Pflege des Produkts
ein.
►Weisen Sie den Patienten darauf hin, dass er umgehend einen Arzt
aufsuchen soll, wenn er außergewöhnliche Veränderungen an sich
feststellt (z.B. Zunahme der Beschwerden).
4.1 Auswählen der Größe
►Die Orthesengröße anhand des Knöchelumfangs auswählen (siehe
Größentabelle).
4.2 Anpassen und Anlegen
VORSICHT
Falsches oder zu festes Anlegen
Lokale Druckerscheinungen und Einengungen an durchlaufenden Blutge
fäßen und Nerven durch falsches oder zu festes Anlegen
►Stellen Sie das korrekte Anlegen und den korrekten Sitz der Orthese
sicher.
►Informieren Sie den Patienten.

Verwendung eines verschlissenen oder beschädigten Produkts

►Weisen Sie den Patienten darauf hin, dass er das Produkt vor jedem
Gebrauch auf Funktionstüchtigkeit, Verschleiß oder Schäden unter
sucht.
►Machen Sie den Patienten darauf aufmerksam, dass das Produkt nicht
mehr verwendet werden soll, wenn das Produkt oder ein Teil des Pro
dukts Verschleißerscheinungen (z. B. Risse, Verformungen, schlechte
Passform) oder Schäden aufweist.
HINWEIS
Unsachgemäßer Gebrauch und Veränderungen
Funktionsveränderungen bzw. -verlust sowie Schäden am Produkt
►Verwenden Sie das Produkt nur bestimmungsgemäß und sorgfältig.
►Nehmen Sie keine unsachgemäßen Veränderungen an dem Produkt
vor.
►Informieren Sie den Patienten.
Die Orthese wird anprobefertig geliefert. Eine Anpassung ist nicht notwen
dig.
> Der Gurt der Orthese ist geöffnet und die Schnürung ist gelockert.
1) Die Orthese über den Fuß ziehen (siehe Abb.1) und wie einen normalen
Schuh schnüren (siehe Abb.2).
2) Das äußere Ende des Gurts über den Spann legen und von innen (medi
al) unter dem Fuß durchführen.
3) Das äußere Ende des Gurts außen (lateral) über dem Knöchel festklet
ten (siehe Abb.3).
4) Das innere Ende des Gurts über den Spann legen und von außen (late
ral) unter dem Fuß durchführen.
5) Das innere Ende des Gurts innen (medial) über dem Knöchel festkletten
(siehe Abb.4).
6) Wenn ein festes Auftreten mit dem Fuß von Seiten des Arztes gestattet
ist:
Die Enden des Gurts abkletten und nachziehen (siehe Abb.5).
4.3 Reinigung
1) Alle Klettverschlüsse schließen.
2) Die Orthese in 40°C warmen Wasser mit einem handelsüblichen Fein
waschmittel von Hand waschen.
3) Die Orthese gut ausspülen.
4) An der Luft trocknen lassen. Direkte Hitzeeinwirkung vermeiden (z.B.
durch Sonnenbestrahlung, Ofen- oder Heizkörperhitze).

5 Entsorgung
Das Produkt gemäß den geltenden nationalen Vorschriften entsorgen.
6 Rechtliche Hinweise
6.1 Haftung
Der Hersteller haftet nur, wenn das Produkt unter den vorgegebenen Bedin
gungen und zu den vorgegebenen Zwecken eingesetzt wird. Der Hersteller
empfiehlt das Produkt sachgemäß zu handhaben und entsprechend der An
leitung zu pflegen.
6.2 CE-Konformität
Das Produkt erfüllt die Anforderungen der Richtlinie 93/42/EWG für Medi
zinprodukte. Aufgrund der Klassifizierungskriterien für Medizinprodukte
nach Anhang IX der Richtlinie wurde das Produkt in die Klasse I eingestuft.
Die Konformitätserklärung wurde deshalb vom Hersteller in alleiniger Verant
wortung gemäß Anhang VII der Richtlinie erstellt.

These instructions for use contain important information on the fitting and
application of the 50S16-7 Malleo Sprint Light ankle orthosis.
2 Application
2.1 Intended Use
The orthosis is intended exclusively for orthotic fittings of the lower limbs
and exclusively for contact with intact skin.
The orthosis must be used in accordance with the indications.
2.2 Indications
• Functional treatment of ligament instability
• Post-operative treatment of ligament ruptures
• Ankle sprains
• Functional, conservative therapy of lateral ligament ruptures

Indications must be determined by the physician.
2.3 Contraindications
2.3.1 Absolute Contraindications
Not known.
2.3.2 Relative Contraindications
The following indications require consultation with a physician: skin dis
eases/injuries, inflammation, prominent scars that are swollen, reddening
and hyperthermia of the fitted limb; pronounced varicose veins, especially
with return flow impairment, lymphatic flow disorders, including unclear soft
tissue swelling distant to the body area to which the support will be applied;
sensory and circulatory disorders in the foot area, e.g. in case of diabetic
neuropathy.
2.4 Effects
The orthosis stabilises the ankle joint using straps. Eversion and inversion of
the ankle joint are restricted without negatively affecting plantar and dorsal
flexion.
3 Safety

►Do not expose the product to salves, lotions or other products that con
tain oils or acids.

4 Handling
INFORMATION
►The daily duration of use and period of application are generally
determined by the physician.
►The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by
qualified personnel.
►Instruct the patient in the handling and care of the product.
►Instruct the patient to see a physician immediately if any exceptional
changes are noted (e.g. worsening of the complaint).
4.1 Size Selection
►Select the orthosis size based on the circumference of the ankle (see
size chart).

4.2 Fitting and Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to
improper or excessively tight application
►Ensure that the orthosis is applied properly and fits correctly.
►Inform the patient.
NOTICE
Use of a worn or damaged product
Limited effectiveness
►Instruct the patient to inspect the product for proper functionality, wear
and damage prior to each use.
►Advise the patient that the product must not be used if the product or
part of the product exhibits signs of wear (e.g. cracks, deformation,
poor fit) or damage.
NOTICE
Improper use and changes
Change in or loss of functionality as well as damage to the product
►Only use this product carefully and for its intended purpose.
►Do not make any improper changes to the product.
►Inform the patient.
The orthosis is delivered ready for trial fitting. No adaptation is required.
> The strap on the orthosis is open and the fasteners are loosened.
1) Pull the orthosis over your foot (see Fig.1) and tie it like a normal shoe
(see Fig.2).
2) Pass the outer end of the strap over the instep and pull it under the foot
from the inner (medial) side.
3) Fasten the outer end of the strap over the ankle on the outer (lateral)
side (see Fig.3).
4) Pass the inner end of the strap over the instep and pull it under the foot
from the outer (lateral) side.
5) Fasten the inner end of the strap over the ankle on the inner (medial)
side (see Fig.4).
6) If the physician has allowed weight-bearing on the foot:
Loose the ends of the strap and re-tighten (see Fig.5).

4.3 Cleaning
1) Close all hook-and-loop closures.
2) Hand wash the orthosis in warm water at 40°C with mild laundry deter
gent.
3) Rinse well.
4) Allow to air dry. Do not expose to direct heat sources (e.g. sunlight,
stove or radiator).
5 Disposal
Dispose of the product in accordance with national regulations.
6 Legal Information
6.1 Liability
The manufacturer’s warranty applies only if the device has been used under
the conditions and for the purposes described. The manufacturer recom
mends that the device be used and maintained according to the instructions
for use.
6.2 CE Conformity
This device meets the requirements of the 93 / 42 / EEC guidelines for med
ical devices. This device has been classified as a class I device according to
the classification criteria outlined in appendix IX of the guidelines. The
declaration of conformity was therefore created by the manufacturer with
sole responsibility according to appendix VII of the guidelines.
