and the most memorable moments together. Your SSSCAT™spray deterrent is designed to keep
pets away from off-limits areas.
We know that safe pets make happy owners. Before getting started, please take a moment to
read through the important safety information. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate
to contact us.

Not for use with aggressive pets. Do not use this product if your pet is prone to aggressive
behaviour. Aggressive pets can cause severe injury or death to their owners and others. If
you are not sure that this product is right for your pet, please talk to your veterinarian or a
certified trainer.
Do not expose the device to freezing temperatures (0°C) or to conditions warmer than 45°C.
Do not leave the unit in direct sunlight. Never leave the unit in a car where the device can heat
up to high temperatures (45°C).
• Contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated.
• Wear protective gloves, eye protection and face protection.
• Do not breathe dust, fumes, gas, mist, vapours or spray.
• In case of inadequate ventilation, wear respiratory protection.
• If exposed or concerned, get medical advice or attention.
• Protect from sunlight. Store in a well-ventilated place.
• Keep out of reach of children.
First Aid and Treatment:
If inhaled, get medical attention if you feel unwell. After skin contact, rinse the affected area with
soap and water. After eye contact, rinse/flush eyes gently using water for 15–20 minutes.
There is a risk of explosion if a battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Do not short circuit,
mix old and new batteries, dispose of in fire or expose to water. When batteries are stored or
disposed, they must be protected from shorting. Dispose of used batteries properly.
The Spray Deterrent is not a toy. Keep it away from the reach of children. Use it only for its
pet avoidance purpose.
The PetSafe®SSSCAT™unit must be used only on healthy pets. We recommend that you take
your pet to a veterinarian before using the unit if he is not in good health.

How the Spray Deterrent Works
The PetSafe®SSSCAT™spray deterrent uses infrared to monitor movement up to 1 metre away.
It detects movement through changes in temperature and sends a quick, safe spray to startle
your pet. Your pet quickly learns to avoid areas that are off-limits. The spray is odourless and
safe; however, it is a sufficient stimulus to deter pets from jumping on kitchen worktops, digging
in rubbish bins or entering restricted areas. It is effective for both cats and dogs of all sizes and
breeds. The SSSCAT™spray deterrent works by sensing differences in temperatures. It may not

work properly if it is placed too close to a heat source (dishwasher, heating vent), or if your
long-haired pet is very cold. For best results, the unit should be placed in an area where the
temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. As a reference, the normal body temperature for a cat
or dog is about 39°C. For use indoors only.
Key Definitions
Battery Door: Holds 4 replaceable AAA batteries (not included).
Spray Nozzle: Emits the spray up to 1 metre from the unit. The nozzle can be adjusted to
3 vertical positions.
Motion Sensor: Monitors any temperature-dependent movement up to 1 metre away. The
sensor can be adjusted to 5 horizontal settings.
Locking Ring: Locks the motion detector unit securely to the aerosol can.

Getting Started

Insert the Batteries
• Slide open the battery door on the top of
the motion detector unit.
• Insert 4 AAA batteries (not included).
• Replace the battery door.
Note: Average battery life is 2–3 months,
depending on how often the unit activates.
Lock the Unit
• With the switch set to off (“O” position), place
the motion detector unit on top of the spray
can and firmly pull down the locking ring
until it clicks in place. To detach the motion
detector unit, push the locking ring up and pull
the unit off the spray can.
Note: The spray can may dispense whenever
you attach or remove the motion detector unit.
Adjust the Direction
• To avoid a direct spray to your pet’s face,
adjust the vertical direction of the spray to
one of 3 positions by pushing the nozzle up
or down.
• Adjust the horizontal direction of the motion
sensor to one of 5 positions by turning it to
the right or left.

Test the SSSCAT™Unit
• Turn the SSSCAT™unit on by sliding the
switch to the left (“I” position), and wait
about 2 minutes for it to normalize.
• You can test it by waving your hand from
side to side in front of it.
Choose a Location
• Place the SSSCAT™unit near an area that
you would like your pet to avoid, such as a
rubbish bin or a doorway.
• Choose a location where the temperature is
between 15°C and 25°C.
• To prevent false activations, do not
place the unit in direct sunlight or in close
proximity to HVAC vents.
• To prevent false activations, do not point
the sensor toward a wall or an object that
is in direct sunlight or in close proximity to
HVAC vents.
• Position the unit for the pet to pass the sensor
instead of walking directly towards it.
• The spray range is about 1 metre from the unit.
Care and Cleaning
• Turn the unit off by sliding the switch to the
right (“O”position) before cleaning it.
• Use a cloth with warm, soapy water to
clean the nozzle monthly.
• Do not submerge the unit under water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the SSSCAT™spray deterrent
work for my dogs and cats?
• The spray is safe and effective for dogs and
cats of all breeds and sizes.
Is the spray safe for my pets? • While the spray is unpleasant, it is harmless to
your pets.
Troubleshooting
The SSSCAT™unit does not spray. • Ensure that the batteries are properly installed.
• Replace the batteries.
• Clean the spray nozzle.
• Replace the unscented aerosol can.
• Ensure that the motion detector unit is securely
seated onto the unscented aerosol can and
that the locking ring is in the locked position.
• Place the unit in a room where the
temperature is between 15°C and 25°C and
not in direct sunlight or near a heat source.
• If the unit still does not respond, contact the
Customer Care Centre.
The spray nozzle has a build-up
around the nozzle.
• Gently clean around the spray nozzle with a
warm soapy cloth.

1. Terms of Use
Use of this Product is subject to your acceptance without modification of the terms,
conditions and notices contained herein. Use of this Product implies acceptance of all
such terms, conditions and notices. If you do not wish to accept these terms, conditions,
and notices, please return the Product, unused, in its original packaging and at your own
cost and risk to the relevant Customer Care Centre together with proof of purchase for a
full refund.
2. Proper Use
This Product is designed for use with pets where training is desired. The specific
temperament or size/weight of your pet may not be suitable for this Product. Radio Systems
Corporation recommends that this Product is not used if your pet is aggressive and accepts
no liability for determining suitability in individual cases. If you are unsure whether this
Product is appropriate for your pet, please consult your veterinarian or certified trainer prior
to use. Proper use includes, without limitation, reviewing the entire product manual and any
specific safety information statements.
3. No Unlawful or Prohibited Use
This Product is designed for use with pets only. This pet training device is not intended to
harm, injure or provoke. Using this Product in a way that is not intended could result in
violation of Federal, State or local laws.
4. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Radio Systems Corporation or any of its associated companies be liable
for (i) any indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damage and/or (ii) any
loss or damages whatsoever arising out of or connected with the misuse of this Product.
The Purchaser assumes all risks and liability from the use of this Product to the fullest extent
permissible by law.
5. Modification of Terms and Conditions
Radio Systems Corporation reserves the right to change the terms, conditions and notices
governing this Product from time to time. If such changes have been notified to you prior to
your use of this Product, they shall be binding on you as if incorporated herein.

Battery Disposal
Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the regulations in
your area before discarding spent batteries. At the end of the product life, please contact
our Customer Care Centre to receive instructions on proper disposal of the unit. Please do
not dispose of the unit in household or municipal waste. For a listing of Customer Care Centre
telephone numbers in your area, visit our website at www.petsafe.com.
Important Recycling Advice
Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations in your country. This
equipment must be recycled. If you no longer require this equipment, do not place it in the
normal municipal waste system. Please return it to where it was purchased in order that it can
be placed in our recycling system. If this is not possible, please contact the Customer Care
Centre for further information. For a listing of Customer Care Centre telephone numbers, visit our

Australia/New Zealand – In compliance with the Australian Consumer Law, Warranties
Against Defects, effective January 1, 2012, warranty details of this Product are as follows: Radio
Systems Australia Pty Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Radio Systems”) warrants to the original retail
purchaser, and not any other purchaser or subsequent owner, that its Product, when subject to
normal and proper residential use, will be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period
of three (3) years from the purchase date. An “original retail consumer purchaser” is a person or
entity who originally purchases the Product, or a gift recipient of a new Product that is unopened
and in its original packaging. When serviced by Radio Systems Customer Service, Radio Systems
covers labour and parts for the first three years of ownership; after the first three years, a service or
upgrade charge will apply relative to replacement of the Product with new or refurbished items at
Radio Systems’ sole discretion.
The limited warranty is non-transferable and shall automatically terminate if the original retail
consumer purchaser resells the Radio Systems Product or transfers the property on which the
Radio Systems Product is installed. This Limited Warranty excludes accidental damage due to
dog chews; lightning damage; or neglect, alteration, and misuse. Consumers who purchase
products outside of Australia, New Zealand, or from an unauthorised dealer will need to return
the Product to the original place of purchase for any warranty issues.
Please note that Radio Systems does not provide refunds, replacements, or upgrades for change
of mind, or for any other reason outside of these Warranty terms.

To file a claim, a proof of purchase must be provided. Without a proof of purchase, Radio
Systems will not repair or replace faulty components. Radio Systems requests the Consumer to
contact the Radio Systems Customer Care Centre to obtain a Warranty Return number, prior to
sending the Product. Failure to do so may delay in the repair or replacement of the Product.
If the Product is deemed to be faulty within 30 days from date of original purchase, Radio
Systems will organise for a replacement to be sent in advance of returning the faulty Product. A
Post Bag will be included with the replacement Product for the return of the faulty Product. The
Product must be returned within 7 days of receiving the replacement. If the Product is deemed
to be faulty after 30 days from the date of original purchase, the consumer will be required to
return the Product to Radio Systems at the consumer’s own expense. Radio Systems will test and
replace the faulty unit or its components and return to the consumer free of charge, provided
the Product is within its said warranty period. This warranty is in addition to other rights and
remedies available to you under the law. Radio Systems goods come with guarantees that
cannot be excluded under the Australia Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or
refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or
damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of
acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

N’exposez pas l’appareil à des températures inférieures à 0°C ou supérieures à 45°C. Ne
laissez pas l’appareil directement exposé aux rayons du soleil. Ne laissez jamais l’appareil
dans une voiture où il peut atteindre des températures supérieures à 45°C.

Premiers secours :
En cas d’inhalation, consultez un médecin si vous vous sentez mal. En cas de contact avec la
peau, rincez la zone affectée à l’eau et au savon. En cas de contact avec les yeux, rincez /
lavez les yeux délicatement à l’eau pendant 15-20 minutes.
Il existe un risque d’explosion si une pile est remplacée par une autre d’un type inapproprié. Ne
provoquez pas de court-circuit, ne mélangez pas les piles neuves avec les piles usagées, ne les
jetez pas au feu et ne les exposez pas à l’eau. Lorsque les piles sont stockées ou mises au rebut,
elles doivent être protégées des courts-circuits. Jetez les piles usagées de façon appropriée.
Le Spray répulsif n’est pas un jouet. Tenez-le hors de portée des enfants. Utilisez-le
uniquement pour sa fonction répulsive face aux animaux.

Fonctionnement du Spray répulsif
Le spray répulsif PetSafe®SSSCAT™utilise les infrarouges pour détecter les mouvements jusqu’à
1 mètre de distance. Il détecte les mouvements grâce aux changements de température et
envoie un spray rapide et inoffensif afin de surprendre votre animal. Votre animal apprendra
rapidement à éviter les zones à éviter. Le spray est inodore et sans danger ; il constitue
cependant un stimulus suffisant pour dissuader les animaux de sauter sur les plans de travail
de cuisine, de fouiller dans les poubelles ou d’entrer dans des zones qui leur sont interdites.
Il est efficace sur les chats et les chiens de toutes tailles et races. Le spray répulsif SSSCAT™
fonctionne grâce à la détection des différences de température. Il risque de ne pas fonctionner
correctement s’il est placé trop près d’une source de chaleur (lave-vaisselle, chauffage) ou si

Insertion des piles
• Faites glisser le couvercle du
compartiment à pile sur le dessus du
détecteur de mouvement.
• Insérez 4 piles AAA (non incluses).
• Replacez le couvercle du compartiment à piles.
Remarque : L’autonomie moyenne de la
batterie est de 2–3 mois, en fonction de la
fréquence à laquelle le dispositif s’active.
Verrouillage du dispositif
• Assurez-vous que l’interrupteur est réglé sur
arrêt (position « O»), placez le détecteur
au-dessus de la recharge de spray et
tirez fermement vers le bas la bague de

des 5 positions horizontales en le tournant

Test du dispositif SSSCAT™
• Mettez le dispositif SSSCAT™en marche en
faisant glisser l’interrupteur vers la gauche
(position « I»), et attendez 2 minutes pour
qu’il se règle.
• Vous pouvez tester le dispositif en agitant
votre main d’un côté puis de l’autre
devant lui.
Choix d’un emplacement
• Placez le dispositif SSSCAT™près d’une zone
que vous souhaitez que votre animal évite,
comme près d’une poubelle ou d’une porte.
• Choisissez un emplacement où la température
est comprise entre 15°C et 25°C.
• Pour éviter toute activation accidentelle,
ne placez pas le dispositif à un endroit
directement exposé au soleil ni à proximité
d’un système CVC.

n’orientez pas le capteur vers un mur ou
un objet directement exposé au soleil ni à

• Placez le dispositif de sorte que l’animal
passe près du capteur au lieu de marcher
directement vers lui.

Entretien et nettoyage
• Arrêtez le dispositif en faisant glisser
l’interrupteur vers la droite (position « O»)
avant de le nettoyer.
• Utilisez un tissu et de l’eau chaude
savonneuse pour nettoyer le bec
vaporisateur chaque mois.
• N’immergez pas le dispositif dans l’eau.
