For V-417.E1XYHxx with xx = 09, 13, 17, 21, 25, 33 additional-
ly:
■1 × chain guide short
■1 × socket head screw ISO 4762 M6×30 A2-70
■1 × cap nut DIN 1587 M6 A2-50

2 Installation
Designations in these instructions:
■X axis / lower positioner
Forms the basis of a XY setup, is attached to a surface
■Y axis / upper positioner
Forms the upper axis of a XY setup, is attached to the lower positioner rotated by 90°
■Drag chain of the lower / upper positioner
Permanently installed drag chain of the lower / upper V-412 or V-417 linear stage
(V-41x.xx6xxxE1)
■XY drag chain
V-417.E1XYHxx Drag chain for XY setup
The XY drag chain takes over the cable management of the Y axis in X direction. For this
purpose, the XY drag chain is mounted on the X axis.
Tools and Accessories
■Mounting hardware of the XY drag chain (included in the scope of delivery (p. 4))
■Chain guide(s) for Y axis (included in the scope of delivery)
■Mounting hardware of the upper positioner (included in the scope of delivery of the
positioner)
■Hex key AF3
■Hex key AF6
Requirements
✓The lower positioner has been mounted onto the surface properly.
✓You have accounted for the space required to route cables according to regulations and
without bending them.
✓The positioners are not connected to the electronics.
Mounting the V-417.E1XYHxx
1. Mount the XY drag chain on the X axis:
For this purpose, use the mounting hardware of the XY drag chain.
a) Attach the connector box of the XY drag chain to the connector box for the drag chain
of the lower positioner.
The M4 screws are integrated firmly in the connector box of the XY drag chain and
can be reached through the openings on the outside.

b) Fix the holder for the XY drag chain with two M4×40 screws to the drag chain holder of
the lower positioner.
2. Mount the Y axis on the X axis.
For this purpose, use the mounting hardware of the upper positioner.
a) Insert two 4h8×12 locating pins into the motion platform of the lower positioner.
b) Align the upper positioner on the motion platform of the lower positioner.

c) If necessary: Push the motion platform of the upper positioner to allow access to the
mounting holes in its base body.
d) Place flat washers on the two M6×30 screws.
e) Insert the M6×30 screws with the attached flat washers into the mounting holes on the
upper positioner.
f) Tighten the screws.
3. Mount the chain guide long on the Y axis.
For this purpose, use the mounting hardware of the upper positioner.
a) Push the motion platform of the upper positioner to the negative end of the travel
range (fig. below: 1).
b) Place flat washers on the two M6×30 screws.
c) Align the chain guide long so that it can be mounted on the mounting holes on the
base body of the upper positioner (fig. below: 2).
d) Mount the chain guide using the M6×30 screws with the attached flat washers in the
mounting holes of the upper positioner (fig. below: 3).

4. For V-417.E1XYHxx with xx = 09, 13, 17, 21, 25, 33 additionally: Mount the chain guide
short on the Y axis.
Use the mounting hardware of the chain guide short.
a) Align the chain guide short with the mounting hole on the base body of the upper
positioner that is closest to the positive end of the travel range.
b) Mount the chain guide using the M6×30 screw and the M6 cap nut in the mounting
hole of the upper positioner.
