INTRODUCTION
A fully featured camera crane is the creave tool of choice for serious videographers and
semi-professionals. Our Proaim Kite-33 Starter is designed for years of trouble-free operaon and
has the fastest tool-free setup and longest reach of any crane in its price category. With precision
engineering and quality of manufacture, the Proaim Kite-33 Starter is truly a professional tool
that will expand a directors creave opportunies. The smooth-coated, corrosion resistant cables
are easy to handle and will last a lifeme. Max Camera Package Load Capacity (including Pan Tilt
Head) : 20kg (45lbs)
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
Please inspect the contents of your shipped package to ensure you have received all that is
pictured and listed below. The grey foam shipping /storage container has been especially
designed to protect your purchase while in transit and is a good place to keep your Proaim
Kite-33 Starter package contents when not in use. You will receive this package in 6 boxes.

NOTE :
 We send the Jib secons in two boxes. One box has the secons with pipe packing and the other box (cardboard
box) has the rest of the secons. We only send one pipe packing for the jib secons.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
 Take out the Spreader from the Accessory
suitcase. Spread it on oor and open the legs of
spreader with the help of provided knob.

Dolly Foots
 Take out the Jib Stand from its case, spread and extend its legs.
 Match the holes of the boom leg secon with the upper leg secon to secure the tripod stand with
the Steel locking Pins and ghten the knobs.
Warning: We have provided double locking precauons on Jib Stand; Pin is the rst and primary
locking, knob is the secondary locking, so rst lock the Pin to avoid slipping of stand.
 Fix the tripod stand with Spreader and ghten the top ratchet knobs of stand to secure it in place.

 In case of Dolly (OPTIONAL): Insert the tripod legs into the foots on the dolly.

 Install the Hub Assembly by sliding the boom of the hub assembly into the
stand’s Mount opening.
 Align the holes of the boom of hub assembly with the
stand’s mount opening and secure it with the provided
knobs.
Warning: This is the Pan Fricon Knob. Never pan the Jib with this knob
ghtened.
If this knob turns while panning, it is too ght. Only ghten while parking
the jib !
 Install the Secon 10 &9 (largest diameter secon to the rear) to the vercal pivot point with the
171mm long through bolt, washers and nut. Tighten the nut properly to secure the secon.
INSTALLING THE HUB ASSEMBLY

Note : The Hub Assembly has several mounng holes. You can mount LCD
Monitor or Joysck box to this assembly if you want.
 Take out the biggest clamp and open it by unscrewing the bolt. Then install the Clamp on the joint
of Secon 10 & 9, aach it with largest pin (171mm) and then ghten the clamp’s allen bolt with
allen key to secure properly.

 Slide Secon 8 into Secon 9 and join with ring pin (163mm).
 Install the pin at the rst join holes of the
secons and bolt, washers and nut from
side at the second holes of secon.

 Similarly insert all the secons one by one (small to the big) and install the pin and bolt , washers
and nut to secure each secon.
 Take out the middle clamp and open it by unscrewing the bolt. Then install the Clamp on Secon 7
and ghten the clamp’s allen bolt with allen key to secure properly. Aer that, aach the rods to
the clamp’s pillars (two at sides and one on top of the clamp).
This Ring Pin is to avoid the play in Jib.
This knob is for ghtening the Jib secons.
IMPORTANT
 Take out the smallest clamp and open it by unscrewing the bolt. Then install the Clamp on Secon 1,
aach it with pin and ghten the clamp’s allen bolt with allen key to secure properly.

INSTALLING THE TAIL EXTENSION
 Insert the coupler to the end secon that is aached with the stand’s central fork.
 Insert the front weight shank by leaving the one black tube at one end, slide it through to the other
end, aach the other black tube with the shank rod and ghten the nut.
 Aach the end secon at the end of the coupler and then Install the bolt, washers and nut from side
at the rst hole of the end secon.

ASSEMBLING THE REAR FRAME
 Take the two 16mm thick rods and two 25mm thick rods. Aach
these rods altogether so that it makes a rectangle and for this
insert the 16mm rods into slots of 25mm rods.

 Aach the allen bolts by screwing in with hand and ghten with allen key at all the four points to
secure properly.
 Align the threads of joysck plate with the threads of the 1mm rods and ghten the allen bolts with
allen key.
 Take out the two black tubes from the weight rod.
 Insert one L-Bracket and then the central black tube with washers at both ends into the weight rod.
 Insert the second L-Bracket & the third black tube at the end of the weight rod.
 Detach the top screw from the frame from both sides.

 Aach the rod with L-Brackets with the rectangular frame and ghten the top screw. Then screw-in
the knobs at both ends.
 Aach the bigger weight rod with L-Brackets, for this insert the rod into one L-Bracket then add the
black tube with white washers at both the sides, insert the rod into the other L-Bracket and then
add the black tube. Tighten the nut and then aach the knob at the end.
INSTALLING THE REAR FRAME
 To mount the Rear secon, align the Assembly’s ‘L’ brackets to the tail of jib secon and insert the
bolt with washers through one end of the secon to the other. Slide the bolt through and hand
ghten.
 Add weights to the rear weight secon at both sides and ghten the weight closer knobs to secure
properly.

 Install the Head Plaorm assembly (leveling arm up) to the end of the smallest secon with the
provided bolt, sha collars, washers and nut. Tighten all the allen bolts and nuts to secure
properly.
 Connect the Head Plaorm Leveling Cable by hooking the turnbuckle ends .

 Aach the stress cables with the front clamp on all the three sides as shown in the images starng
from front to rear including the rods at the center.
 Finally, the jib is ready. Now you can install your pan lt on jib and aach other accessories like
joysck control box, zoom controller and e-focus etc onto the jib frame.

Counterweights
The Jib is setup with “plate weights” or bar bells” style weights. Plate weights come in several weights
and diameters. They get smaller as the weights get lighter. The largest (25lbs) is about 11 inches in
diameter. The mounng hole is 1” in diameter for all weights. The jib has a varying weight rao de-
pending on the length you have chosen. The 33 arm itself balances at about 185 lbs. Just mulply
the weight, of the addional items you will put on the end of the arm, by 6 and you will know how
much weight to buy. Buy a few extras in case you add other accessories.
The lighter weights will allow you to “ne tune” once you’re ready to go.
Balancing Tips :
1. 33’ Jib
Weights required for balancing only Jib (without camera & Pan Tilt) is: 185 Kg ( 408 lbs)
For balancing 7 Kg (15.4 lbs), we further need another 42 Kg (92.5 lbs), the formula is:
(Weight of Camera + Pan Tilt) x 6 = Addional counter weight required to balance
. the equipment on the Jib
(e.g. 7Kg x 6 = 42 Kg)
Total recommended weight: 220 Kg (485 lbs)
2. 22’ Jib
Weights required for balancing only Jib (without camera & Pan Tilt) is: 62,500 Kg (137.5 lbs)
For balancing 7 Kg (15.4 lbs), we further need another 35 Kg (77 lbs), the formula is:
(Weight of Camera + Pan Tilt) x 5 = Addional counter weight required to balance
. the equipment on the Jib
(e.g. 7Kg x 5 = 35 Kg)
Total recommended weight: 96.875 Kg (213 lbs)
3. 19’ Jib
Weights required for balancing only Jib (without camera & Pan Tilt) is: 40 Kg (88 lbs)
For balancing 7 Kg (15.4 lbs), we further need another 28 Kg (62 lbs), the formula is:
(Weight of Camera + Pan Tilt) x 4 = Addional counter weight required to balance
. the equipment on the Jib
(e.g. 7Kg x 4 = 28 Kg)
Total recommended weight: 69,500 Kg (153 lbs)

4. 16’ Jib
Weights required for balancing only Jib (without camera & Pan Tilt) is: 22,225 Kg (49 lbs)
For balancing 7 Kg (15.4 lbs), we further need another 24.5 Kg (54 lbs), the formula is :
(Weight of Camera + Pan Tilt) x 3.5 = Addional counter weight required to balance
the equipment on the Jib
(e.g. 7Kg x 3.5 = 24.5 Kg)
Total recommended weight: 46,250 Kg (102 lbs)
5. 13’ Jib
Weights required for balancing only Jib (without camera & Pan Tilt) is: 12,375 Kg (27 lbs)
For balancing 7 Kg (15.4 lbs), we further need another 14 Kg (31 lbs), the formula is :
(Weight of Camera + Pan Tilt) x 2 = Addional counter weight required to balance
. the equipment on the Jib
(e.g. 7Kg x 2 = 14 Kg)
Total recommended weight: 27,875 Kg (61 lbs)
6. 10’ Jib
Weights required for balancing only Jib (without camera & Pan Tilt) is: 3,375 Kg (7.4 lbs)
For balancing 7 Kg (15.4 lbs), we further need another 12,375 Kg (27 lbs), the formula is :
(Weight of Camera + Pan Tilt) x 1.8 = Addional counter weight required to balance
. the equipment on the Jib
(e.g. 7Kg x 1.8 = 12,375 Kg)
Total recommended weight: 15,750 Kg (35 lbs)
Tesng Equipment
1. Make sure you are on a level surface and have adequate room.
2. Fly the jib around some before you mount any equipment on it. This will allow you to test the in-
stallaon, determine if you are on level ground and you are in proper adjustment.
3. Aer tesng a movement, let go of the arm. It should slow down and stop without moving up,
down, le or right aer it stops, If not, it is not balanced properly. Use the lighter counterweights, if
needed, or readjust your leveling as required.
4. Now you may install your equipment on the arm.
5. Balance with the appropriate counter weight as required.
For some interesng compound shots try:
Moving the pan & lt control the same direcon as you move the rear of the jib. This
keeps your subject framed but changes the perspecve of the camera.

Example:
Move the pan & lt head all the way to the le, zoom out w/ subject framed in foreground
Now move your hands to the right (camera swings to the le) while panning the camera right, keeping
your subject framed.
You can also try this with up and down shots or diagonal shots. Just remember to move your hands the
same direcon as you pan/lt the camera.
WARRANTY
We oer a one year warranty for our products from the date of purchase. We will repair or re-
place your product, free of charge, in the event of a defect in materials or crasmanship obtained
during normal use or handling based on the user manual. Please note that we will not cover any
shipping costs for returning the product to us. If any VAT or import dues are applied to the re-
turn, we will also charge these costs to the customer.
The warranty does not include, by the way of example, damage caused by products that we do-
not supply or from mishandling in transit, accident, misuse, neglect, lack of care of the product ,
or service by anyone other than our company. We are not liable for incidental or consequenal
damages resulng from the use of the unit or occurring due to any breach of this warranty.
Replacement parts of the product will be provided at nominal cost (covering the cost price of the
replacement parts only) to the customers aer the Warranty Period has expired. We will cover
the complete cost of sending replacement parts within the warranty period. Aer that, Nominal
cost of the product & Actual shipping cost will be charged.
Do not send the unit to us without rst geng a response and geng the approval to send back
the item. In case of any kind of dissasfacon, we urge you to Contact us immediately and we
shall do our best to help you out. For any other assistance you can reach us via email.
Safety & Maintainence :
1. Always remember to remove the counter weight rst when taking down the Jib because if the
camera is removed rst you will have created a catapult, which if released, will topple the Jib over
and ruin your day.
2. Make certain that you align the Jib arm with a Tripod Leg before removing the counter weight.
Failure to do this may cause the Jib to p over.
3. Double-check all nuts to make sure they are snug, as they may loosen in transit.
4. Lubricate the nylon sheet inside hub assembly aer someme for smooth panning.
5. Apply Rust Prevenon oil to all the fasteners and stress cable aer someme to avoid geng rust on
these parts for long lasng durability of these parts.
6. Inspect the stress cable, upon each set up, for any damage or wear and replace if necessary.
7. Before installing the camera, balance the jib only with counterweight and leveling.
8. Don’t leave the setup with camera alone (incase of wind) as it may topple and cause harm.
