1.GENERALSAFETY RULES
ThismanualisanintegralpartofcuttingunitSW12SMandmustbecarefully
readbeforeusingitsinceitgivesimportantindicationswith regardstoitssafe
installation,useandmaintenance.Keepitwith care.
BeforeusingcuttingunitSW12SM,readcarefullythefollowinggeneralsafety
rules.
•PACKAGING.
Aftertakingoffthepackagingmakesurethatthecuttingunitisintact.Incase
ofdoubtdonot useitandcontactanauthorizedservicecentre.Donotleave
piecesofpackaging(plasticbags,foampolystyrene,boxes,etc.)withinthe
reachof childrenordisabledpersonssincetheyarepotentialsourcesofdanger.
•AVOIDDANGEROUSENVIRONMENTS.
PreventthecuttingunitSW12SMcomponentsfromcomingincontactwith
damporwetsurfaces.
•KEEPCHILDRENAWAY.
Unauthorizedpersons,inparticularchildren,must bekeptawayfromtheworking
area.
•FEEDCABLE.
Preventthefeedcablefromcomingincontactwithhotobjects,pointedsurfaces
orsharpedges.Neverpullthefeedcableofthemachine.It mustneverbe
replacedbytheuser.Ifnecessarycontactprofessionallyqualifiedstaff.
•KEEPTHE WORKINGAREAALWAYSINORDER.
Theworkplacemustalwaysbekeptinorderandwell lightened;liquidsoroil
tracesmustnotbepresent.
•ALWAYSUSECUTTINGUNITSSW12SMPROPERLY.
Usethecuttingunitsonlyto carryouttheworks theyhavebeendesignedfor;
donotusethemimproperly.
•OBSERVETHEUSEOFTHE TOOLS.
Donotcutexcessivelythickmaterialsandalwayscheckbladeconditions.
•AVOIDACCIDENTALSTARTINGS.
BeforeconnectingcuttingunitSW12SM,makesurethateverythingisinstalled
properly.
•CLOTHING.
Donotuselargeclothesoraccessoriesthatmightgetstuck inthemoving
parts.
•GOGGLESANDPROTECTIVEMETALMESHGLOVES.
Alwaysusegoggles,protectivemetalmesh glovesapprovedbyRasor®during
useandmaintenanceoperations(accordingtoUNIEN388:2004standard).
•SPAREPARTS.
Duringmaintenanceandreplacementoperations useonlyoriginalspareparts.
Blademaintenancemust beonlyperformedbyRasor®technicians.
•INSTALLATION.
Anyinstallationthatisnot inconformitywiththesespecifications couldjeopardize
yoursafetyandcancelsthewarranty.

2.TRANSPORTAND PACKAGING
Thecuttingunitisdeliveredinasuitcase,insidewhich therearevarious options.Thecodeof
theorderedproductandits serialnumberareindicatedoutsidethepackage(see picture1).
Thefollowingaccessoriesarecontainedinabaginsidethepackage:
1) Poligonalblade;
2) Wrenchforbladenutdisassembly.
3) Shukocablewithoutplug;
4) Driftforbladedisassembly.
3.PLATE DATA
Themanufacturer'sidentificationandECSTANDARD2006/42/ECconformityplate(see picture
below) islocatedonthefrontpartof thecuttingunit.
Theplate mustnotbe removedatall,evenifthemachineisresold.Alwaysreferto
theserialnumberwrittenontheplateitselfwhencontactingthemanufacturer.
Severalsafetywarningsareprintedonacardwhichisappliedto thecuttingunitfeeding
cable;suchwarningsmust bestrictlyfollowedbyeveryonedealingwiththemachine. The
companyisnottobeheldresponsiblefordamagetopropertyoraccidentsto
peoplewhich might occur iftheabove-mentionedwarnings arenotobserved.In
such acase,theoperatoristheonlypersonresponsible.

4. PRODUCTDESCRIPTION
ThefixturedescribedinthismanualisacuttingunitmodelSW12SMwhichcanbeassembled
onautomaticmachines(e.g.spreaders,computerizedcutting) bymeans of properholes
locatedinthemotorsupport.
SW12SMcanoperatecontinuouslyanditcancutatvarious heights bymeans of multiple
installation.Bycuttingwiththebladeandthecounterbladealwaysincontactandthanksto
thesteelupperqualityofthebladesupplied,SW12SMguaranteesthecleanseparationwithout
frayingsof thetwobordersof thecutmaterial.Thanksto aneffectivecuttingsystemwith
polygonalblade,itispossibleto usethecuttingunitto cutprofilesnot onlyinthetextileand
tannagesector,butalsoinseveralindustrialsectorssuchasto cutpolymers,thermoacoustic
insulators,padding,neoprene,filters,syntheticfabricsandsimilarfabrics,moquetteand
internalparts of carsandships,glass andcarbonfibres.The220Vsingle-phasemotorensures
ahighbladesurfacespeed(280m/min)enablingcuts withhighfeedandtraversespeed.The
bladediameter(120mm)andthemotorpower(350 Watt)guarantee cuts with thickness up
to5cm.Asharpenerassembledonthecuttingunitheadallowssharpeningthebladeatany
momentwithoutdisassemblingit.Aftercarryingoutthisoperation,itispossibleto start
cuttingagain.Ahighpowermotor,perfectlybalanced,withahighnumberof revolutions
andtotallyfree of maintenance,reducesthevibrations to theminimum sothatthecutting
unitcomplieswithEuropeanDirectiveNo.2002/44/ECconcerningtherisksderivingfrom
mechanicalvibrations.Themechanicalparts aremadeof highresistancesteel,bronzeand
aluminium andrequirelubricationafterseveralworkinghours.

It isadvisableforcuttingunitSW12SMownersto verifythecompliancewiththestandard
concerningsafetyof workers:Italianlegislativedecree 81/08.
Themaximum acousticpressurelevelemittedbycuttingunitSW12SMisabout60 dB(A).
Noisetests havebeen carriedoutin compliancewith StandardUNIENISO11202:2010. The
devicenoiselevels,measuredatdifferentdistances(withoutanysoundwavefilteringsystem),
varyintheextentof fewdb (A).
CuttingunitSW12SMhasbeendesigned,manufacturedandassembledto cutanykindof
fabricsormaterials,withtheexceptionof metal,plasticorwood,bymeans of rotarypoligonal
blades.Thisequipmentmust not work:
-in areas proneto explosions;
-in presenceof finedustorcorrosivegases;
-on wetordampmaterials;
- tocutplastic,metalandwoodenmaterials.
Itisforbiddentousecuttingunit SW12SMfor purposesdifferentfromtheabove-
mentionedones.

8.USE WARNINGS
Werecommendfollowingtheindications belowin ordertoalwaysworkinsafetyconditions.
·Alltheoperationsmustbecarriedoutcomplyingstrictlywiththesafetyrulesofthe
countrywherethedeviceistobeinstalled.
·ItisSTRICTLYFORBIDDENtosmokeduringtheinstallationoradjustmentoperationsof
thecuttingunit.
·TheCustomerundertakestocomplywithandmakehisstaffobserveall therulesand
regulationsinforceconcerningsafety,preventionof accidentsandhealthinthework
place.Therefore,theCustomerassumes theresponsibilitytostrictlyfollowalltherules
andregulations inforce,aswellasthespecialprovisionsinforceinsportandpublic
installationstheCustomerdeclarestoknowafterreceivingalltherelativenecessary
information.
·Thecuttingunitworksalsowithoutitssafetyprotectivedevice.This
protectivedevicemustNEVERberemoved.
·Alwayschecktheresistanceofthematerialto becutandthekindofbladewhichis
beingused.
·TheCustomershallequiphisownpersonnelwithalltheindividualsafetyprotections
fortheexecutionoftheworks,as wellaswiththeoneswhich mightbeprescribedby
theManufacturerduetospecificdangerconditionsoftheplantoroftheareawherethe
personnelmustwork.
·Donotmakeanyadjustmentwhilethebladeisworkingorwhiletheelectricplugis
connected.
·Alwayspayattentionto theelectriccablepositionto preventitfrombeingcutor
damagedbytheblade.
·ItisallowedtoassemblecuttingunitSW12SMon machinesO.E.M.on conditionthattheir
originalstructureis notmodified.Otherwise,theinterventionmustbecertifiedbyRasor®.
Firstlymakesurethatthelinesareableto feedthecuttingunitcorrectly,incompliancewith
thesafetyrules(forthefeaturerequiredsee par.5).
We suggest installingamagnetothermicsafetydevicebeforethecuttingunitandcheck that
thegroundcircuitiseffective.Beforeworkingonthefeedingcablepull theplugout.Check
thatelectricconnections andprotections correspondto thedriving
forceandtheplatedatavalues(voltageandcurrent),requiredbythe
differentelectriccircuits.Possiblefaultygroundconnectionsmake
theworkingconditions unsafe.Possibledamagesarenot chargedto
Rasor®.Byreferringto theEC11-27/1standardall theworkscarried
outbymeans of electriccurrentmust beperformedbyastaff,who
hasbeenprovidedwithallthedevicesrequiredbytheabove-mentioned
standard.Fortheworkscarriedoutundervoltage,itisnecessarythat
theemployercertifiesthesuitability,againstformativeprocesses.As
thecuttingunitSW12SMissuppliedwithoutplug,theusermust use
aplughomologatedinthecountryinwhichthecuttingunitisused.
IntheEuropeanCountriesaShukoplugisrequired(see picture3).Never
changethelenghtof thecablesupplied. ThecuttingunitSW12SMisa
class II electricdevice,thereforeitdoesnot needanygroundingcable.

11.INSTALLATION AND USE
Eventhoughthecuttingunitissafe,operatorsmust payattentionto preservetheirandother
people’ssafety.
LAttheendof theworkingoperations,themetalparts couldbeveryhot.
LThecuttingbladecanworkevenwhentheprotectivedeviceisdisassembled.
Toinstall andusethecuttingunitmanually,proceedasfollows:
1)Fixthecuttingunitonlevelsquaresoranglesbymeans of four5MAscrews,byinserting
theminthefourholeslocatedinthemotorlowercover(see pictures4and5).
NOTE
Thecuttingunitcanbeinstalledinanyposition/angle:vertically,laterallyanditcanbeturned
upsidedown.It isnot compulsoryforthealuminium baseto touchthemachinetable.
2)Laythematerialto becut;
3)Connectthecuttingunitto theelectricfeeding(see picture6);
4)Putthematerialonthecuttingfoot(see picture7);
5)Adjust thefrontmobileprotectionaccordingto thethicknessof thematerialtobecut(see
picture7);
6)Enabletheswitch;onceithasbeenenabled,itlightswithagreenlight(seepicture8);
7)Carryoutthecuttingoperation.
NOTE
CuttingunitSW12SMcanworkinafixedposition(thematerialhasto bemoved) oritcan
moveforwardwhilethematerialiskeptinthesameposition.Makesurethematerialto becut
isproperlystretched,preventingitfromcurling.

Neverusethetwoboltswhich fix themotortothecuttingpart tofastencutting
unit SW12SM.Thisoperationmaycausethemotorshafttobreak.Inthiscase,
warrantyisnotvalid.

12. BLADESHARPENING
13. LUBRICATION
Every3-4workingdays,itisnecessaryto lubricatethe
pair of gears.Tocarryoutthisoperation,remove
protectiveplug“A”locatedonthemotorsupportof
thecuttingunitandfill itwithlubricatinggreaseRasor®.
Screwplug“A”againfewturns.Screwplug“A”some
turns every2-3workingdays(see picture11).
Theblademust neverbedirtywith greaseoroil.
WARNING
Aftermanyhoursof acontinuativeuseof thecutting
unitorifitwouldnot beableto cutanymore,itis
necessaryto sharpentheblade.
Tocarryoutthisoperation,startthebladeandpress
sharpener“2”locatedonit3-4seconds(bypressing
push button“1”,asshowninpicture9).
Repeattheoperation 2-3times.
Ifthesharpeningoperationisnot effective,check the
wearof emerygrindingwheel“3”(see picture10).
Ifgrindingwheel“3”istoo wornordirty,replaceit.
14. MOTOR BRUSHREPLACEMENT
Wornmotorbrushescouldcreateacuttingunitmalfunction(nostarting,intermittentstart,
etc.),thereforeitshouldbebetterto verifytheirwearperiodically.
Openthemotorcoverbyunscrewing4screws“4”onthecuttingunithead(see picture12).
Removethemetalcontacts thatclosethebrushes withaslottedscrewdriver(see picture13).
Removethebrushesandcheck theirwear:ifthegraphitehasalenghtshorterthan15 mm or
itisuneven,replaceit(see picture14).
Closethemetalcontacts again bymakingsurethattheyadherewell to themetalpartof the
brush.Finallyclosethemotorcoveragain.

replaceit.Tocarryoutthisoperation,usebutterflywrench
“1”anddrift“3”lockingtheblade(showninpicture15).
Toreplacetheblade,proceedasfollows:
1) Usesomeprotectiveglovesincompliancewith
Italian LegislativeDecree 81/08;
2) Removethefixedrearsafetyprotection“A”(see
picture16)byunscrewingthethree cross-slotted
screws“C”,“D”and“E”bymeans of theproper
screwdriver(not suppliedbythemanufacturer)as
showninpicture17.Removethemovablefront
safetyprotection“B” (seepicture16)byunscrewing
pin“F”andthetwowashers“G”asshowninpicture

to lock theblade(theholeontheblademust
correspondto theoneonthestructure).
4)Usebutterflywrench“1”to unscrewnut“L”and
removeblade“M”(see picture18).
5) Replacethewornbladewiththenewone“2”,
beingcarefulto centerthebladeontheshaftin
thecorrectposition;weremindyouto assembleit
sothatthesidewiththewritingRasorcanbeseen
bytheoperator.
6)Assembleall thecomponents againandcarryout
thesharpening.

WARRANTY
Rasor®ElettromeccanicaS.r.l. cuttingunithasa12 monthwarrantyfromthedateindicated
on thelast pageof this manual,exceptin caseof differentwritten agreements.
Thewarrantycoversallmanufacturingandmaterialdefects.Replacementandrepairoperations
arecoveredonlyifcarriedoutbyourcompanyandatourworkshop.Ifin-warrantygoods
needto berepaired, thecustomermustalwayssendthecompletemachinetoRasor®.
Singleunitswill notbe repairedunderwarranty.
Thematerialto berepairedmust besentCARRIAGEFREE.
Oncethemachinehasbeenrepaired,itwill besentCARRIAGEFORWARDto thecustomer.
Thewarrantycoversneithertechnicians'interventiononsitenorthemachinedisassembly
fromtheinstallationplace.
Ifforpracticalreasons,oneof ourtechnicians issentto thepremises,thecustomerwill be
chargedthecosts plus thetravellingexpenses.
Thewarrantydoesnot include:
+failurecausedbywronguseorassembly,
+failurecausedbyexternalagents,
+failurecausedbylack of maintenanceorneglicence;
+blades andparts subjectto wear.
WARRANTYFORFEITURE:
+Incaseof arrearageorotherbreaches of contract,
+Wheneverchangesorrepairsarecarriedoutonourcuttingunits withoutourprior
authorization,
+Whenevertheserialnumberistamperedwithorcancelled,
+Wheneverthedamageiscausedbyimproperuse,badtreatment,bumps,fallsand
othercausesnot dueto normalworkingconditions,
+Whenevertheunitseemstamperedwith,dismantledorpreviouslyrepairedby
unauthorizedstaff,
+Incasethecuttingunits areusedforpurposesthataredifferentfromtheones
describedinthismanual.
+Incasenon-originalspareparts areused.
All repair operations carriedoutunderwarrantydonotinterruptits duration.
All disputeswill be settledin thecourt ofjusticeofMilan(Italy).
