A battery is generally equipped with a safeguard feature to shut itself down when it detects abnormality. But when properties
change with time and use, or multiple damages occur due to user mishandling, it may not shut down safely.
If the following cases apply to your battery, stop using it to prevent risks that may ensue.
Dropped or applied strong impact:
a) Strong impact or shaking may apply
stress to the separator. Repeated
charging in this state may weaken its
insulating function and cause short circuit.
b) Battery cell enclosure may rupture and
cause the electrolyte to leak.
c) Impact may damage the protection
circuit board and cause the safeguard
feature to fail.
Overused (Short life despite full charge):
a) Electrode property may change (lesser
lithium ions) and charge capacity (energy
storable) may drop.
b) Capacity loss causes relative imbalance
between cells inside the battery. Recharging
under this state would charge one of the
cells more than the other, causing
overcharge and excessive heat.
Submerged or exposed to water:
a) Water may damage the protection
circuit board and cause the safeguard
feature to fail.

We assure that lithium-ion batteries in our printers are designed and manufactured to be safe under normal use. However, it is when the batteries are
physically damaged or exposed to strong impact that short circuit may occur inside the battery and cause overheating, smoke or fire. As this risk applies
to all lithium-ion batteries in general, we ask that you take extreme care in handling these types of batteries.
See the following pages on how to check the date of manufacture of your battery.
We suggest that you renew any that have been made over three years ago.
