1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults
and any transport damage. Inspect the goods in the presence of your
forwarder. Should transport damage have occurred, please arrange for
an inventory (determination of the faults) to be made in the presence of
the forwarder. Please send a complaint in writing to the specialist dealer
responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
The correct use of the product requires a detailed and careful instruction
of the user or the accompanying person. We ask you to read through the
Instructions for use carefully prior to initial commissioning of the product,
and to observe them. It is possible that product parts that get in contact
with the skin may heat up in the sun. Cover these areas or protect the de-
vice from direct sunlight.
1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the
disposal instructions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The packaging of the product should be kept for any future transport that
might be required. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in
case of a guarantee claim, please if possible use the original box so that
the product is optimally packaged. Otherwise, separate the packaging
materials for recycling according to their classification.
Do not leave packaging materials unattended, as they are a possible source of
danger.
1.3.2 Product

1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these Inst-
ructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use. Should you lose

1. Preparation.

2.1 Material information
The sub-frames are made of steel which is non-corroding and pow-
der-coated.
2.2 Handling / transport
The sub-frame is not designed to be carried, as it is fitted with castors.
Should you have to carry the equipment due to obstacles, ensure that all
moving parts are tightened. Then position yourself next to the sub-frame,
grip it on both sides under the support head and carry it to the required
location. To transport the sub-frame, reduce all adjustments to their most
compact size (fold up foot support, set lowest seat height etc.).
Tighten all moving parts prior to carrying!
2.3 Application areas, use according to the intended purpose
The fridolin 1. and fridolin 2. indoor sub-frames are medical products of
risk class 1 and are suited exclusively for indoors use. The sub-frames are
designed as substructure to accommodate seating systems and seat
pans. Any other use or use over and above this purpose shall be conside-
red not in accordance with the intended purpose.
2.3.1 Indication
The indication for the sub-frames fridolin 1. & fridolin 2. derives from tho-
se of the seating systems and seat pans.
2.3.2 Contraindications
In general, the indication for a seat pan sub-frame in combination with
a seating system or a seating pan should be accompanied by a medi-
cal-orthopaedic specialist. It should therefore be clarified prior to pro-
curement whether contraindications exist for the patient. In general, any
type of pain represents a contraindication.

2.4 Use not in accordance with the intended purpose / warning guide-
lines
• Make sure that the sub-frame in combination with a seat pan is only
used by one user.
• Never leave the user unattended.
• Do not use sub-frame in combination with a seat pan for the transpor-
tation of a person.
• Correct usage of the sub-frame requires precise and careful training of
the accompanying person.
• The max. load (see Point 5) may not be exceeded.
• Do not use the respective sub-frame if it has defective, worn or
missing parts.
• Only use accessories and spare parts made by Schuchmann, otherwise
you will endanger the user.
• Only use the sub-frame if all components have been correctly
mounted and adjusted.
• Please read out the Instructions for use for users suering from a visual
or reading impairment, so that they can use the sub-frame safely.
2.5 Basic model equipment
• Tilt adjustment of the seat unit via gas pressure spring 500N
• Mechanical height adjustment (for fridolin 1.)
• Height adjustment by means of gas pressure spring (for fridolin 2.)
• 4 castors (75 mm), 2 with locking devices
• Incl. support head for trapezoidal and external adapter and foot bench
plug-in mechanism

2.7 Product overview

important components as well as the terms which you will find in these

09 3. Settings.
Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user's extremities are in
the respective area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the
risk of injury.
3.1 Locking / unlocking the castors
The sub-frame should always be pre-
vented from rolling away inadvertently
by locking the two rear castors (A).
3.2 Seat height
fridolin 1.: To adjust the seat height,
undo the screws of the clamps (B) on
the uprights and put the seat pan
into the desired position. The height
of the gas pressure spring must then
be adjusted. To this end, undo the
two screws (C) in the centre between
the two uprights and adjust the gas
pressure spring to the required height.
Firmly tighten all screws again. If the
seat height is adjusted in height over
5 cm, the mounting plate for the gas
pressure spring must be turned. To this
end, remove and install the screws (C)
in the centre between the two uprights
and the screw connection for the gas
pressure spring (D). Firmly tighten all
screws.

fridolin 2.: The sub-frame can be lo-
wered to low table heights using the
height adjustment by means of a gas
pressure spring. To this end, the foot
pedal (A) on the right-hand side of the
base frame is operated (in driving di-
rection) and the seat pan slides down.
If required, assist the movement by
applying slight pressure from above. To move the seat pan upwards, press
the foot pedal again and assist movement through application of slight
pressure upwards if necessary. The foot pedal can be secured against in-
advertent operation with a lock located on the inside of the foot pedal.
To this end, pull on the knurled knob (B), turn it to the right as far as it will
go and then release it again. Now the foot pedal is secured against in-
advertent operation. The locking mechanism is released by pulling on the
knurled knob (B) and turning it to the right.
For safety reasons, the adjustment may only take place when no-one is
on the product!
3.3 Seat angle adjustment
In order to adjust the angle of the seat unit, the
hand trigger (C) at the rear below the seat pan
holder must be actuated (by pulling it). To do
this, the rear part of the lever must be pressed
into the plug lock. This deactivates the child
lock. The seat unit can now be adjusted in an
active or passive position. The release lever (D)
for the seat angle adjustment can also be
mounted on the push bar / handle or on the
back of the seat pan if used later.
When adjusting the seat angle, always secure the
seat pan with one hand!

3.4 Adaptation of seat pans
fridolin 1. & fridolin 2. are prepared to accommodate a seat unit / seat
pan. The seat adapter represents the connection point.
Seat pan adapter, standard:
Insertion of the seat adapter into the
seat pan support:
1. Insert the adapter into the rear
tube of the seat pan support.
2. Fold down the adapter until it
meets the front tube. The lock will
engage automatically. Now tighten
the knurled knob (A) of the paten-
ted closure.
3. When removing the seat pan, first
undo the knurled knob on
the adapter and then release the connection between adapter
and seat pan support by pulling the button.
Tilt the pan slightly and remove it.
Ensure that the patented closure is correctly engaged and that the
knurled knob is rmly tightened so that it can no longer be pulled!
Seat pan adapter, trapezoidal shape:
Place the seat pan with the trapezoi-
dal shaped mounted adapter piece
on the trapezoidal shaped seat pan
adapter plate and push back. Here
the patented closure engages au-
tomatically. Now tighten the knurled
knob (B) of the patented closure. When
removing the seat pan, first untwist
the knurled knob (B), and then pull it
down to release the connection bet-
ween the adapter and the seat pan
support. The pan can now be pulled
away to the front.
Ensure that the patented closure is correctly engaged and that the knurled knob
is rmly tightened so that it can no longer be pulled!

3.5 Central locking brake
The new locking brake provides secure
protection against rolling away, and
can be operated personally by the
user. To this end, the lever (A) of the lo-
cking brake must be pulled upwards.
When the brake is released, it points
downwards. The brake is tightened if
the lever (A) is pointing upwards.
3.6 Foot support
For fridolin 1. & fridolin 2. there are
dierent foot support variants that are
mounted at the support head. After
the respective foot support has been
plugged into the support head (B) and
after the depth has been adjusted,
the knee angle can be adjusted using
the two clamping levers (C).
3.7 Push bar handling
The push bar makes it easier to relocate
the room frame, and can be adjusted
in depth and angle. The angle is ad-
justed by releasing the quick-release
clamp (D) on both sides. Then bring the
push bar into the correct position and
tighten the quick-release clamps (D)
again. The depth is adjusted by loo-
sening the grub screws (E) on the right
and left-hand side below the adapter.
The release lever (F) for the seat angle
adjustment can also be mounted on
the push bar / handle or on the back
of the seat pan if used later.

3.8 Handling push handle
The push handle makes it easier to
relocate the room frame, and can
be adjusted in height and angle. The
angle can be adjusted by releasing
the levers (A). Adjust the required angle
position and tighten the levers again.
The height adjustment is done via the
levers (B). Release them, to adjust the
correct position and then tighten the
lever firmly again.
Only use the push handle to push the
sub-frame! Do not hang objects onto the
push handle! Increased risk of tipping!
3.9 Wheel base extension
The wheel base extension is used to
keep the product steady, in particular
with larger seat pans and seat angles
tilted far to the rear. The wheel base
extension (10 cm) is fixed, and cannot
be adjusted.

14 4. Cleaning and maintaining.
4.1 Cleaning and disinfecting
4.1.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements regularly with a spon-
ge or damp cloth; making sure that water droplets are
removed. Please clean with a mild household deter-
gent for severer dirt. Thorough drying of the cleaned
areas is important.
All fabrics that cannot be removed can be wiped with
a moist cloth. For all removable fabrics please pay at-
tention to the sewn-in care labels (such as A+ B) on the
respective element.
Please also pay attention to our general clea-
ning and hygiene advice. This can be found at
www.schuchmann.de/mediathek.
4.1.2 Disinfection
Various products can be used for surface disinfection of metal and plastic
parts.
Liquid disinfectants are available as ready-to-use solutions that are spray-
ed on and evenly applied with a soft cloth. Alternatively, wipes pre-soaked
with disinfectant can be used to wipe the products over the entire surface.
In both cases, care must be taken to ensure complete wetting. Disinfection
in fully automatic disinfection systems is also possible and recommended.
The exposure times may vary and can be found in the manufacturer's ins-
tructions for the products used.
4.2 Servicing
Please carry out a visual inspection on a daily basis and regularly check
the product for cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a
defect or malfunction, please contact the specialist dealer who supplied
you with the product (see Point 7.5).
4.3 Maintenance
For reasons of user safety and to retain product liability, the product must
be subjected to maintenance by a specialist dealer at least once a year
(see Point 7.5). The maintenance work carried out must be documented in
the maintenance plan (see Point 4.3.2).

4.3.1 Maintenance specications
• Basic cleaning according to the manufacturer's specifications
• Disinfect according to the manufacturer's specifications as required
• Damages to the frame, mounting parts and accessories (cracks, breaks,
corrosion, bent or missing parts)
• Strength of the connections (tighten loose screws, replace missing
screws)
• Functionality of the adjustment elements (screws, release lever, latching
elements, foot pedal)
• Functionality of other adjustment elements (push bar and footrests)
• Functionality of the gas pressure springs (if necessary readjustment of
thebowden cables)
• Functionality of the safety elements (anti-tilt)
• Functionality of brakes
• Functionality of the rollers (concentricity, smooth running)
• Legibility of the type label
• Final complete functional check of the aid
• Check that all mounting parts and associated accessories are correctly
fastened
4.3.2 Maintenance plan
Maintenance specifications of the manufacturer (see Point 4.3.1) were car-
ried out:

Any defects or damage found must be repaired by the specialist dealer or the
manufacturer before reuse.

4.4 Spare parts
Only use original accessories and original spare parts from the manufac-
turer, otherwise you will endanger the user and the warranty becomes
void. To order spare parts, please contact the supplying specialist dealer
(see Point 10.5). Necessary spare parts and accessories must only be in-
stalled by trained personnel.
4.5 Duration of use and re-use
The expected duration of use of our product, dependent on the usage in-
tensity and amount of re-use, totals up to "8" years if the usage takes place
in accordance with the information in these Instructions for use. It may be
possible to use the product over and above this time period if it is in a safe
condition. The expected duration of use does not refer to wear parts, such
as for example covers, wheels, batteries.....The maintenance and evalua-
tion of the condition, and if applicable the potential for re-use, must be
decided by the specialist dealer. The seat pan sub-frame is suitable for
re-use. Prior to forwarding on, please follow the cleaning instructions in
point 4.1. Accompanying documents such as these Instructions for use are
part of the product and must be passed on to the new user. No disassem-
bly is required prior to re-use.

18 6. Guarantee.
The two-year statutory guarantee period shall apply for all products. This
begins with the delivery or handover of the goods. Should a verifiable
material or manufacturing fault occur within this time period, we shall, after
carriage paid return to us, view the indicated damage and, if applicable,
either repair or deliver a new product at our discretion.
