05 1. Preparation.
1.1 Transport
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults
and check it for any transport damage. Inspect the goods in the presence
of your forwarder Should transport damage have occurred, please cause
an inventory (determination of the faults) to be made in the presence of
the forwarder. Please send a complaint in writing to the specialist dealer
responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
Correct usage of the seat pan requires precise and careful induction of the
accompanying person. We ask you to read through the Instructions for use
carefully prior to initial commissioning of the seat pan, and to observe them.
1.3 Sicheres Entsorgen
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the dis-
posal instructions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The product packaging should be stored in case the product needs to be
transported again. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in
case of a guarantee claim, please if possible use the original box so that the
product is optimally packaged. Otherwise, separate the packaging mate-
rials for recycling according to their classification. Do not leave packaging
materials unattended, as they are a possible source of danger.
1.3.2 Product
Separate the raw materials used in the product for recycling according to
their classification (see material information under 2.1).
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these
Instructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use.

2.1 Material information
The base frame and the individual elements are made of aluminium which
is noncorroding and powder-coated.
2.2 Handling and transport
The riding aid is not designed to be carried, as it is fitted with rear wheels.
Should you have to carry the equipment due to obstacles, ensure that all
moving parts are tightened.
Then two people should position themselves next to the upright trainer,
grip it on the left and right of the frame and carry it to the required loca-
tion. To transport the upright trainer, reduce all adjustments to their most
compact size (fold up foot bench, remove rear wheels etc.)
2.3 Application areas, use according
to the intended purpose
The freddy. seat pan subframe is designed as a sub-structure to mount
seat pan systems and seat pans. freddy. can be used for children and
youths. The load including seat pan should not exceed 120 kg and any
type of seat pan can be adapted without problems. freddy. is exclusively
suitable for use by an accompanying person.

2.7 General settings
To use the freddy. seat pan subframe freddy. correctly, it needs to be set
right. Some important points are as follows:
• Withtheseatangledmore,therearwheelsshouldbemoved
back – and moved forwards with a slight tilt.
• Theaxleoftherearwheelsarepositionedverticallyunderthehipjoint
for persons driving themselves.
2.8 Utilisation training
Carry out the first driving attempts on an even surface without a passenger
until you have got used to the
freddy. seat pan subframe. You must take
extra care when driving hills and slopes or when overcoming obstacles.
Use the tip protectors for initial uses (optional).
2.9 Climbing stairs
Stairs may only be attempted with a
minimum of 2 accompanying persons.
The helpers may only hold the frame
and fixed frame parts without lifting the
freddy. (carrying)!
When driving up stairs, the helper at
the back holds the chassis on the fi-
xed handles and pulls over the steps
and the helper at the bottom holds
the front frame tubes and stabilises the
position. They also press the chassis
into the steps parallel to the floor.
Never carry the freddy. seat pan subframe whilst the user is sitting in it –
risk of accidents!
When lowering, the bottom helper brakes by pressing the chassis in stages.
The top helper provides counterpressure on the push bars and holds the
chassis in the right position. The chassis must be rolled down step by step.
Please check whether the groups on the back tubes are locked in place!
Bags and objects must be removed from the backrest to avoid hindering
the accompanying person.

Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user‘s extremities are in the
respective area when making adjustments to avoid the risk of injury.
3.1 Seat tilt
The freddy. seat can be inclined for-
wards in the basic position using the
gas pressure spring up to 30° back-
wards and 5° forwards. You must press
the trigger lever (A) on the right side on
the push bar or push handle or assist
by lightly pulling or pushing. Once the
required seat angle has been achie-
ved, the gas pressure spring is blocked
again by releasing the trigger lever.
There is an increased risk of tipping over with a tilted adjustment! There-
fore always use the swing-away anti tip bar.
3.2 Back angle adjustment with snap joint
The back frame can be precisely adjus-
ted in the angle to the seat frame. The
adjustment is made after loosening the
two star handles on the right and left
at the lower end of the back frame.
Always hold the back with one hand
when adjusting. The back can also be
fully folded down onto the seat frame
for easier transport.
There is an increased risk of tipping over when adjusting the back more
than 90° to the seat frame!

3.3 Back angle adjustment with central quick adjustment
The back can be adjusted via the central fast adjustment at an angle of
90° to 120° to the seat frame. For versions with a gas pressure spring, the
adjustment is made by pressing the lever on the gas pressure spring (A) and
by releasing the clamp lever (B) for the mechanical version.
The back can be folded down onto the seat
frame for easier transport. Press the button on
the quick release axle on the lower end of the
centralised fast mechanical adjustment and
take out the quick release axle. When folding
back, place the fast mechanical adjustment
in the adapter and reattach the quick release
axle.
Check the tight axial t of the quick release
axle for each assembly!

3.4 Seat height adjustment
The height of the seat adapter can be
adjusted by loosening the clamps (A)
on the horizontal tubes. A scale is ap-
plied to the inner tube. The scale shows
steps of 2 cm.
Max. height adjustment 10 cm!
The height of the gas pressure spring or
the two gas pressure springs for sizes 2
and 3 must then be adjusted. Loosen
the screw connections (B) for this and
aligned to the corresponding hole dis-
tance (in the same way as the horizon-
tal tubes have been adjusted). Tighten
the screw connections again after all
adjustments.
Note: If the height adjustment is larger
than 6 cm, the black support plates (4
pieces) must be turned!
The setting may only may made when the seat is not being used.
3.5 Seat depth adjustment
The depth of the base plate for moun-
ting the adapter including the seat
pan can be adjusted by loosening the
4 screws (C).

3.6 Adjustment of the back unit
(positioning of a seat pan / seat unit)
The complete back unit can be adjus-
ted in the depth of the seat pan / seat
unit. To do this, remove the 4 screws (A)
on the right and left of the top frame
and slide the back unit out or in. Then
install the screws again (A) and re-tigh-
ten them firmly. Ensure that the seat
pan / seat unit is positioned centrally
on the subframe (Fig. 1). Only in this way
can be subframe be used optimally. If
the centre of gravity of the seat pan /
seat unit lies on the front wheels (Fig.
2), the manoeuvrability of the subframe
will be adversely aected.
The seat pan / seat unit must be
placed centrally on the subframe.
3.7 Push handles
The height of push grips can be individually adjusted on your Freddy. This
takes place after loosening the two clamp levers (B) on the rear tubes. Tigh-
ten the clamp lever again after adjust-
ment.
3.8 Push handle
The design with the push handle is a
more comfortable solution. The angle
of the push handle can be individually
adjusted in addition to height adjust-
ment using the joints with quick release
(C). The height is adjusted after loo-
sening the two clamp levers (D) on the
rear tubes. The clamp lever and quick
release must be tightened again after
adjustment.

The following are general rules:
Higher air pressure: Low rolling resistance / less suspension comfort
Lower air pressure: Higher rolling resistance / more suspension comfort
See point 7.5 for sizes and air pressure for the guide and rear wheels.
4.1 Rear wheels with drum brake
The drum brake allows safe braking, which is independent of the tyre pres-
sure. It is activated with the brake lever on the right and left push bar with
four engagement options. A safety catch engages with an audible „click“
by pulling the lever. The brake is applied in the fourth click position. Release
the brake by pulling the lever again and pressing the red safety catch at the
same time. By braking lightly on one side it is possible to achieve a steering
movement when pushing.
Setting the drum brakes
The drum brakes are set by turning the
setting screws (A) in or out. They are
located at the lower end of the brake
cable in the brake saddle. Unscrew the
screw a little for precise adjustment un-
til you hear a grinding noise with tur-
ning the rear wheel. The brake jaws are
placed lightly against the hub housing
in this state. Then turn the setting screw
1 turn back and clamp it in place with
the nut. Check the function of the drum brake and readjust the setting screw
if necessary.
Leave this work to your specialist dealer in case of any uncertainty.
The drum brake may only be used on the level with maximum load as a par-
king brake due to safety reasons. The knee lever brake must always be used
on a slope and tilt up to a maximum of 8%.

4.2 Quick release axle
The quick release axles on the rear wheels 16“,
20“ and 22“ make it considerably easier to
transport your freddy.. You only need to press
the button (A) in the centre of the wheel hub,
and the wheel can be easily removed or rein-
serted. When inserting the quick release axles,
you should be able to hear it engage with an
audible „click“.
Check the tight axial t of the quick release axle each time the rear wheel
is mounted!
4.3 Wheelbase (integrated)
If the rear wheels are mounted far back, you
have a large distance between wheels and
therefore good stability, or a safe position with
respect to the danger of tipping over. Howe-
ver, manoeuvrability is lost. If the rear wheels
are mounted further to the front, the freddy.
is very manoeuvrable due to the shorter wheel
distance. However, please note that there is a
big risk of tipping over in this position. This particularly applies if the seat
surface is adjusted back (the seat surface is tilted). Therefore always use the
swing-away anti tip bar due to safety reasons.
4.4 Guide wheels
To guarantee perfect steering control, the
steering axle on the front wheels (B) must be
positioned vertical to the surface (C). If this no
longer the case due to changes to the rear or
front wheels, the front wheels can be readjus-
ted by turning the two eccentric nuts (D) on
the front wheel adapters. It is advisable to use
a try square or similar. After each adjustment,
please re-tighten all screw connections and
make sure that both sides are adjusted evenly!

4.5 Clothing guard – removable
Alongside the fixed clothing guard, the clothing gu-
ard can also be supplied as a removable guard to
achieve a more compact transport size. This is done
by loosening the two knurled screws (A). Pay attention
to a tight fit when mounting the clothing
guard!
5.1 Tilting device
The accompanying person can tilt the chassis easier
with the tipping bar to drive over a curb for example.
The tipping bar is mounted in the rear, lower frame
tube.
5.2 Swing-away safety roller
The swing-away anti tip bar prevents the chassis
from tipping back.
Note: When driving over steps or curbs, the anti
tip bar must be swung in 180° to the front to avoid
touching the ground. Briefly press the bar down and
then turn 180° inwards - the bar automatically clicks
into place again with the spring. Swinging back takes
place in the same way.

5.3 Knee lever brake
The knee lever brake serves as a parking bra-
ke. Check that the brakes are in perfect wor-
king order and check the air pressure in the
rear wheels before each use. The brake is ap-
plied in the direction of travel by swinging the
brake lever. The correct distance between the
tyres and brake is important for the correct
function of the brake. It should be approx. 2
cm with the brake released. This size can vary
somewhat depending on the tyre pressured or
the type of tyre used.
Guide: The tyres should always be pressed
in lightly by the applied brake. It is possible
to adjust the brake by release the two Allen
screws on the clamping block (A). Firmly tighten the screws again.
5.4 Footrests
There are dierent footrest variants for the
freddy., which are fixed to the seat frame at
the base plate for external adapters. After in-
serting the knee angle in the footboard ad-
apter under the base plate and setting the
depth, the footrest is tightened with the two
wind screws (B). The knee angle can be ad-
justed and the lower leg length individually
adapted. Foot benches can be folded up and
the angle adjusted depending on the variant.
Tighten the corresponding screw connections
after all adjustments. In addition, there are
two further footrest versions. The first can be
adjusted in height and width and can be pi-
voted. The second has additional knee angle
adjustment and is equipped with calf plates.
The pivot point of the angle adjustment has
been adapted to the physiological knee joint.

freddy. is prepared to take a seat unit or seat pan. The seat adapter
represents the connection point.
6.1 Seat pan adapter, standard
1. Insert the adapter into the rear tube of the
seat pan support.
2.Fold the adapter down to the front tube.
3.Here the patented closure engages
automatically. Now tighten the knurled
head on the patented closure.
When removing the seat pan, untwist the
knurled head first and when it is pulled down-
wards, the connection between the adapter and seat pan adapter is relea-
sed. The pan can now be taken o.
6.2 Seat pan adapter, trapezoidal shape
Place the seat pan with the trapezoidal
shaped mounted adapter piece on the
trapezoidal shaped seat pan adapter
plate and push back. The patented
closure automatically clicks into place.
Now tighten the knurled head (A) of the
patented closure. When removing the
seat pan, untwist the knurled head (A)
first and when it is pulled downwards,
the connection between the adapter
and seat pan adapter is released. The
pan can now be pulled away to the
front.
Tighten the knurled head after assembly of the seat pan!

6.3 Seat plate assembly
Transfer the hole pattern of the trape-
zoidal adapter onto the seal pan body
and mount the seat plate with four M6
countersunk screws (strength class 8.8)
onto the trapezoidal adapter. Please
use M6 self-locking nuts (min. strength
class 8) to fasten. If using push-in nuts
in the seat place, please secure the
screws (e.g. with Loctite) against be-
coming loose due to vibrations and
impacts!
When assembling a seat pan make sure that the seat pan body (back and
seat plate) is made of a minimum of 3 mm aluminium sheet. Also make
sure that no sharp edges remain on the pan body.
6. Adapter systems.

20 7. Repairs and cleaning.
7.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements regularly with a sponge or damp cloth; ma-
king sure that water droplets are removed. Please clean with a mild house-
hold detergent for severer dirt. It is important to thoroughly dry the seat pan
sub-frame after cleaning. Please also pay attention to our general cleaning
and hygiene advice. You can find them at www.schuchmann.de/freddy.
7.2 Repairs
Please carry out a daily visual inspection and check the seat pan sub-frame
regularly for cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a de-
fect or malfunction, please contact the specialist dealer who supplied you
with the product (see Point 10.5).
7.3 Spare parts
Should you wish to order spare parts, please contact the specialist dealer
who supplied you with the product, stating the serial number of the seat pan
subframe (see point 10.5).
7.4 Duration of use and re-use
The expected duration of use of our product, dependent on the usage in-
tensity and amount of re-use, totals up to „8“ years, if the usage takes place
in accordance with the information in these Instructions for use. It may be
possible to use the product over and above this time period if it is in a safe
condition. The expected duration of use does not refer to wear parts, such
as for example covers, wheels, batteries..... The maintenance and evaluation
of the condition, and if applicable the potential for re-use, must be deci-
ded by the specialist trader. The seat pan sub-frame is suitable for re-use.
Prior to forwarding on, please follow the cleaning instructions in point 7.1.
Accompanying documents such as these Instructions for use are part of the
product and must be passed on to the new user. No disassembly is required
prior to re-use.
