1. Preparation of the sub-frame for use
1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults and check
it for any transport damage.
Inspect the goods in the presence of your forwarder
Should transport damage have occurred, please arrange for an inventory (deter-
mination of the faults) to be made in the presence of the forwarder. Please send a
complaint in writing to the specialist dealer responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
Correct usage of the sub-frame requires precise and careful induction of the ac-
companying person. We ask you to read through the Instructions for use carefully
prior to initial commissioning of the sub-frame, and to observe them.
1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental polluti-
on, and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the disposal instruc-
tions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The product packaging should be stored in case the product needs to be transpor-
ted again. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in case of a gua-
rantee claim, please if possible use the original box so that the product is optimally
packaged.
Separate the packaging materials for recycling according to their classication. Do
not leave packaging materials unattended, as they are a possible source of danger.

Separate the raw materials used in the product for recycling according to their
classication (see material information under 2.1)
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these Instructions
for use remain with the product in case of re-use.

2. Product description
2.1 Material information
The sub-frames are made of steel which is non-corroding and powder-coated.
2.2 Handling / transport
The sub-frame is not designed to be carried, as it is tted with castors. Should you
have to carry the equipment due to obstacles, ensure that all moving parts are tigh-
tened. Then position yourself next to the sub-frame, grip it on both sides under the
support head and carry it to the required location.
To transport the sub-frame, reduce all adjustments to their most compact size (fold
up foot bench, set lowest seat height etc.)
CAUTION!
2.4 Use not in accordance with the intended purpose / warning guidelines
• Ensure that the sub-frame in combination with a seat pan is only used by one
child/teenager.
• Never leave the child unattended.
• Do not use sub-frame in combination with a seat pan for the transportation of a
person.
• Correct usage of the sub-frame requires precise and careful training of the
accompanying person.
• The max. load (see Point 5) may not be exceeded.
• Do not use the respective sub-frame if it has defective, worn or missing parts.
• Only use accessories and spare parts made by Schuchmann, otherwise you
will endanger the child.
• Only use the sub-frame if all components have been correctly mounted and
adjusted.
• Please read out the Instructions for use for users suffering from a visual or rea-
ding impairment, so that they can use the sub-frame safely.
Tighten all moving parts prior to carrying!
2.3 Application areas, use according to the intended purpose
Fridolin 1+2 are designed as a sub-structure for carrying seat pan systems and
seat pans for children who cannot walk or who have difculty walking.

2. Product overview
The Fig. below is intended to show you the designation of the most important com-
ponents as well as the terms which you will nd in these Instructions for use.

FRIDOLIN 2: The sub-frame can be lowered via the
gas pressure spring with the aid of the height ajust-
ment to low table heights. To do this, the foot pedal
(E) on the right-hand side of the base frame is ope-
rated (in driving direction) and the seat pan slides
down; assist movement through the application of
slight pressure from above if required. To move the
seat pan upwards, press the foot pedal again and
assist movement through application of slight pres-
sure upwards if necessary. The foot pedal can be secured against inadvertent operation
with a lock located on the inside of the foot pedal. To do this, pull on the knurled knob
(F), turn it to the right as far as it will go and then release it again. Now the foot pedal is
secured against inadvertent operation. The locking mechanism is released by pulling on
the knurled knob (F) again and turning it to the right.
3.1 Locking / unlocking the castors
The sub-frame should always be prevented from
rolling away inadvertently by locking the 2 rear cas-
tors (A).
For safety reasons, the adjustment may only take place when no-one is
on the product!
3.2 Seat height
FRIDOLIN 1: To adjust the seatr height, loosen the
clamps (B) on the uprights and bring the seat pan
into the required position. The height of the gas
pressure spring must then be adjusted. To do this,
loosen the two screws (C) in the centre between the
two uprights and adjust the gas pressure spring to
the required height. Firmly tighten all screws again.
If the seat height is adjusted in height over 5 cm,
the mounting plate for the gas pressure spring must
be turned. To do this, remove and install the screws
(C) in the centre between the two uprights and the
screw connection for the gas pressure spring (D).
Firmly tighten all screws.
3. Settings
Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made by people
who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical product advisor. Please
ensure that none of the user's extremities are in the respective area when making ad-
justments of any kind to minimise the risk of injury.

3.3 Seat angle adjustment
In order to adjust the angle of the seat unit, the
hand trigger (A) at the rear below the seat pan
support must be actuated (by pulling it). To do
this, the rear part of the lever must be pressed
into the key lock. This deactivates the child lock.
The seat unit can now be adjusted in an active or
passive position.
It is possible if required to mount the release le-
ver (B) for the seat angle adjustment on the push
bar / handle or on the back of the seat pan if used
later.
When adjusting the seat angle, always secure the seat pan with one
hand!
3.4 Adaptation of seat pans
FRIDOLIN 1 + 2 are prepared to carry a seat unit
/ seat pan. The seat adapter represents the con-
nection point.
Seat pan adapter, standard:
Insertion of the seat adapter into the seat pan
support:
1. Insert the adapter into the rear tube of the seat
pan support.
2. Fold the adapter down to the front tube. The lock will engage automatically. Now
tighten the knurled knob (C) of the patented closure.
3. When removing the seat pan, rst untwist the knurled screw on the adapter, and
then pull on the knob to release the connection between the adapter and the seat
pan support. Tilt the pan slightly and remove it.
Ensure that the patented closure is correctly engaged and that the
knurledknobisrmlytightenedsothatitcannolongerbepulled!

3.5 Central locking brake
The new locking brake provides secure protec-
tion against rolling away, and can be operated
personally by the user. To do this, the lever (B) of
the locking brake must be pulled upwards. When
the brake is released, it points downwards. The
brake is tightened if the lever (B) is pointing up-
wards.
Seat pan adapter, trapezoidal shape:
Place the seat pan with the trapezoidal shaped
mounted adapter piece on the trapezoidal shaped
seat pan adapter plate and push back. Here the
patented closure engages automatically. Now
tighten the knurled knob (A) of the patented clo-
sure. When removing the seat pan, rst untwist
the knurled knob (A), and then pull it down to re-
lease the connection between the adapter and
the seat pan support. The pan can now be pulled
away to the front.
Ensure that the patented closure is correctly engaged and that the
knurledknobisrmlytightenedsothatitcannolongerbepulled!
3.6 Foot bench
There are different foot bench variants available
for the FRIDOLIN 1 + 2, which are xed to the
support head.
After the respective foot bench has been plugged
into the support head (C) and after the depth has
been adjusted, the knee angle can be determi-
ned with the aid of the two clamping levers (D).

3.7 Push bar handling
The push bar makes it easier to relocate the room
frame, and can be adjusted in depth and angle.
The angle is adjusted by releasing the quick-
release clamp (A) on both sides. Then bring the
push bar into the correct position and tighten the
quick-release clamp (A) again. The depth is ad-
justed by loosening the grub screws (B) on the
right and left-hand side below the adapter. The
release lever (C) for the seat angle adjustment
can also be mounted on the push bar / handle or
on the back of the seat pan if used later.
Only use the push handle to push the sub-frame! Do not hang objects
onto the push handle! Increased risk of tipping!
3.9 Wheel base extension
The wheel base extension is used to keep the
product steady, in particular with larger seat pans
and seat angles tilted far to the rear.
The wheel base extension (10 cm) is xed, and
cannot be adjusted.

3.7 Handling push handle
Thepushhandlemakesiteasiertorelocatetheroom
frame, and can be adjusted in height and angle.
The angle can be adjusted by releasing
the lever (D). Adjust the required ang-
le position and tighten the lever again.
The height adjustment is conducted via the lever
(E): release it, adjust to the correct position and
then tighten the lever rmly again.

4.4 Duration of use and re-use
The expected duration of use of our product, dependent on the usage intensity
and amount of re-use, totals up to "8" years, providing the usage takes place in
accordance with the information in these Instructions for use. It may be possible
to use the product over and above this time period if it is in a safe condition. The
expected duration of use does not refer to wear parts, such as for example covers,
wheels, batteries.....
The maintenance and evaluation of the condition, and if applicable the potential for
re-use, must be decided by the specialist trader.
The sub-frame is suitable for re-use. Prior to forwarding on, please follow the
cleaning and disinfection instructions in Chapter 4. Accompanying documents such
as these instructions for use are part of the product, and must be transferred to the
new user. Accompanying documents such as these Instructions for use are part of

prior to re-use. In the case of storage, it is recommended to fold the product to the
smallest dimension to save space.
4. Repairs and cleaning
4.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements with a sponge or damp cloth. Please clean with a
mild household detergent for severer dirt.
It is important to thoroughly dry the seat pan sub-frame after cleaning. Please also
pay attention to our general cleaning and hygiene advice. You can nd them at
www.schuchmann-reha.de/FRIDOLIN.
4.3 Spare parts
Should you wish to order spare parts, please contact the specialist dealer who
supplied you with the product, stating the serial number of the respective sub-frame
(see 7.5).
Necessary spare parts and accessories must only be installed by trained personnel.
4.2 Repairs
Please carry out a daily visual inspection and check the sub-frame regularly for
cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a defect or malfunction,
please contact the specialist dealer who supplied you with the product (see 7.5).

6. Guarantee
The two-year statutory guarantee period shall apply for all products. This guarantee
period shall begin with the delivery or handover of the goods. Should a veriable
material or manufacturing fault occur within this time period, we shall, after carriage
paid return to us, view the indicated damage and, if applicable, either repair or de-
liver a new product at our discretion.
