05 1. Preparation.
1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults
and any transport damage. Inspect the goods in the presence of your
forwarder. Should transport damage have occurred, please arrange for
an inventory (determination of the faults) to be made in the presence of
the forwarder. Please send a complaint in writing to the specialist dealer
responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
The correct use of the product requires a detailed and careful instruction
of the user or the accompanying person. We ask you to read through the
Instructions for use carefully prior to initial commissioning of the product,
and to observe them. It is possible that product parts that get in contact
with the skin may heat up in the sun. Cover these areas or protect the de-
vice from direct sunlight.
1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the
disposal instructions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The packaging of the product should be kept for any future transport that
might be required. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in
case of a guarantee claim, please if possible use the original box so that
the product is optimally packaged. Otherwise, separate the packaging
materials for recycling according to their classification.
Do not leave packaging materials unattended, as they are a possible source of
danger.
1.3.2 Product
At the end of the product life cycle, recycle the raw materials used in the
product according to their nature (see material information under point 2.1).
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these Inst-
ructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use. Should you lose
the instructions, you can always download an updated version atwww.

2.1 Material information
The base frame and the individual elements are made of aluminium
which is non-corroding and powder-coated. The body supports and lower
armrests are made of PU. The seat is padded and covered. The padding
is made from 100% polyester and is flame-retardant (in line with DIN EN
1021-1+2).
2.2 Handling / transport
The posterior walker is not designed to be carried, as it is fitted with wheels.
Should you have to carry the equipment due to obstacles, ensure that
all moving parts are tightened. Subsequently, stand next to the posterior
walker, grab the base frame left and right below the handles and thus lift
it over the obstacle. To transport the posterior walker, fold the frame (see
point 3.1).
For malte mini. size 0, folding the frame is not possible! In this case, set
everything at its most compact (fold up bench, set handles to lowest set-
ting etc.). Lift the compact unit by stepping between the frame at the rear
and then hold it left and right below the handles.
2.3 Application areas, use according to the intended purpose
The malte. and malte outdoor. posterior walkers are medical products of risk
class 1, which provide users with freedom of movement to such an extent
that they can move autonomously or with the help of an accompanying
person in indoor areas (malte.) or outdoor areas (malte outdoor.). The
posterior walkers are pulled behind the user`s body. This increases back-
ward stability and oers optimum freedom of leg movement due to the
abducted frame design. Any other use or use over and above this purpose
shall be considered not in accordance with the intended purpose.
2.3.1 Indications
The malte. and malte outdoor. posterior walkers were designed for users
to compensate for the reduced resistance or capability of the lower
extremities using strength / support by the upper extremities (if applica-
ble also the torso). The aim is to learn active walking and independent
movement, the expansion of limited action radius and compensation of
unsteady gait.

2.3.2 Contraindications
In general, the indications for walking training should be approved by a
doctor or orthopedist. It should therefore be clarified prior to procurement
whether contraindications exist for the patient. In general, any type of pain
represents a contraindication. No walking trainer procurement should be
carried out without having established beforehand if the user suers from
a foot deformity requiring special care.
2.4 Use not in accordance with the intended purpose / warning guidelines
• Correct usage of this product requires precise and careful training of the
accompanying person.
• The product may not be used without supervision.
• malte. may only be used on solid and level ground indoors. Please use
malte outdoor. for outdoor areas.
• The max. height adjustment is specified by a marking - no settings may
be made beyond this range.
• Please observe Point 5 'Technical data' in these Instructions for use for
the maximum permitted patient weight.
• After all adjustments, firmly re-tighten the screw connections you have
loosened.
• Hanging on heavy bags or other items can have a negative impact on
stability.
• Use only accessories and spare parts made by Schuchmann, otherwise
you will compromise the safety of the user.
• Please ensure that none of the user's extremities are in the respective
area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the risk of injury.
• Users who have diculty reading must have someone read these In-
structions for use aloud so that they understand how to use the product.
2.5 Equipment for basic model

2.7 Product overview

Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user's extremities are in
the respective area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the
risk of injury.
3.1 Folding / unfolding the frame
The frame can be folded for easy
transportation or better storage of the
posterior walker using hinges (A). Stand
or crouch down behind the posteri-
or walker to fold the frame down. Pull
both releases (B) at the same time and
press the frame down (C).
To unfold, pull both releases (B) and
set the frame up again. The posterior
walker is ready again for operation, as
soon as both hinges (A) have audibly
clicked in place.
It is essential that hinges lock back in
when unfolding!
The frame of malte. size 0 mini CANNOT
be folded!
For malte. size 4, an additional safety
splint (D) is integrated!

3.2 Handles
The handles can be individually adjusted in height and width for adjust-
ment to individual body size.
3.2.1 Handle height adjustment
To adjust the height, please loosen
the star handles (A), bring the hand-
les into the required position and then
re-tighten the star handles. A gauge
(B) permits precise height adjustment
of the handles. Make sure that the
handle is not pulled out of the handle
mount beyond the STOP marking (C)
as sucient clamping can no longer
be guaranteed in this case. The height
can also be changed via the width
adjustment (see Point 3.2.2)
The handles may not be pulled out of the handle mount beyond the STOP mark!
3.2.2 Setting the handle width
To adjust the width, please loosen the
cylinder head screw with inner he-
xagon (D), bring the handles into the
required position and then re-tighten
the cylinder head screw with inner
hexagon. As previously mentioned in
Point 3.2.1, the handle height can also
be changed by adjusting the width (E).
After each adjustment, please re-tighten
all screw connections!

3.3 Direction locks
It is possible to drive straight ahead
by locking the guide wheels. To re-
lease the guide wheels lock, pull the
direction lock (A) gently upwards and
turn it a quarter turn to the left or right.
The guide wheels can now move freely
and allow independent steering. Pull
the direction lock (A) gently upwards
and turn it a quarter turn to the left or
right again to apply the guide wheels
lock. The direction locks click back
in as soon as the guide wheels are
aligned straight.
3.4 Combined pelvis and buttocks pelotte pad
(optional for malte. and malte outdoor.)
The combined pelvis and buttocks
pelotte pad is padded with PU and
helps the user straighten up when
walking. It can be adjusted in height,
depth, width and angle and can also
be swung away to the back.
Height adjustment
The height of the combined pelvis and
buttocks pelotte pad can be adjusted
with the handles (B- also refer to point
3.2.1). The height can also be adjusted
by loosening the screws (C).

Depth adjustment
Loosen the 2 grub screws (A) and bring
the combined pelvis and buttock pe-
lotte pads into the required position.
Width adjustment
The pelvis pelotte pads of the com-
bined pelvis and buttocks pelotte
pads can be adjusted in width after
loosening the screw connections (B).
Adjustment of the angle
Loosen the cylinder head screw (C) to
adjust the angle of the combined pel-
vis and buttocks pelotte pad.
Pivoting
If the combined pelvis and buttocks
pelotte pad is not required, it can be
pivoted to the back (D).
After each adjustment, please re-tighten
all screw connections!
3.5 Storage basket
(optional for malte. and malte outdoor.)
The storage basket is used to trans-
port smaller objects and ensures a vi-
sual upgrade of the posterior walker.
The storage basket has a fixed shape
and cannot be adjusted. The maxi-
mum load of 5 kg must not be excee-
ded.

3.6 Anti-tip mechanism
(optional for malte and malte outdoor.)
Since users sometimes want to let
themselves fall backwards, malte. and
malte outdoor. can be equipped with
an anti-tip mechanism. The anti-tip
mechanism serves to protect against
tipping backwards if the user leans
too far back. It cannot be adjusted.
3.7 Bench
(optional for malte. and malte outdoor.)
The bench is padded and covered. If the bench is not required, it can be
folded up at the back (A) to provide more space when walking. Simply
lift the bench gently and fold it back-
wards. Simply fold it back down to the
use the bench again.
The option of a bench is not available for
malte. mini size 0!
Please note the maximum load (see
point 5)!

3.8 Forearm rests
(optional for malte.)
The forearm rests can be equipped
with a handle or grip ball. They can be
adjusted in depth, height, angle and
inclination.
Depth adjustment
Loosen the cylinder head screw with
inner hexagon (A) beneath the lower
armrest. Now you can move it on the
tube (B) and bring into the desired po-
sition.
Please pay attention to the adjustment
mark on the tube (B).
Height adjustment
The handles are used to set the height
(see Point 3.2.1 + 3.2.2).
Adjustment of the angle
The angle (C) is set using a locking
hinge. Loosen the cylinder head screw
with inner hexagon (A) beneath the
forearm rest and bring the forearm rest
into the required position.
Angle adjustment
Loosen the cylinder head screw with
inner hexagon (A) beneath the fore-
arm rest to set the inclination (D) and
bring the forearm rest into the required
position.

3.9 Grip / grip ball for forearm rests
(optional for malte.)
Loosen the hexagon socket screws (A)
and bring the grip (B) or grip ball (C)
into the required position.
After each adjustment, please re-tighten
all screw connections!
3.10 Friction brake
(optional for malte.)
The function of the friction brake is to slowly
reduce the speed of the rear wheel rollover.
By turning screw D(loosen lock nut Ebefore-
hand) in and out, the pressure the friction
brake has on the wheel can be changed and
therefore the wheel rolling speed.
After each adjustment, please re-tighten the
lock nut!
3.11 Parking handbrake
(optional for malte.)
For malte outdoor. the parking handbrake
is included in the basic model. The posteri-
or walker can be equipped with a parking
handbrake against unintentional rolling away and for a safe stand. Please
pull the brake lever (F) and engage the red safety catch (G). To release,
please pull again the brake lever (F) and simultaneously pull the red safety
catches (G).

3.13 Handle bar
(optional for malte.)
The handle bar serves as a horizontal connec-
tion between the handles and supports an
upright walking position. It can be adjusted in
depth and height and can be pivoted.
Depth adjustment
Gently loosen the screws on both clamping devices (D) and bring the bar
into the required position then re-tighten the screws.
Height adjustment
The handles are used to set the height (see point 3.2.1).
Pivoting the handle bar
Pull the locking bolts (E) out and swing the bar away to the side.
For malte. size 0 + 4 and in combination with the forearm rests (see point 3.8),
the use of a handle bar is not possible!
After each adjustment, please retighten all screw connections!

3.12 Handbrake with extra small brake handles
For users with a reduced grip width, the walker
can be equipped with a handbrake with ext-
ra small brake handles.
To brake the walker, kindly pull the brake lever
(A) on the respective handles (B). To secure
the walker against unintentional rolling away,
please operate the separate parking brake.
To this end, simply press the respective brake lever (C) at the rear of the
handles (B) and pull again to release the parking brake.

3.14 Deector
(optional for malte.)
The deflector is used to protect the
product and the environment.
If when using the malte. the user gets
in contact with furniture, objects or
similar, the deflector ensures that
no damage is done. The deflector is
pre-mounted and cannot adjusted.
3.15 Backwards stop
(optional for malte outdoor.)
Since sometimes the user wants to let
himself fall backwards instinctively, the
malte. is equipped as standard with a
backwards stop and thus oers opti-
mal support. For malte outdoor. this is
an optional accessory. The rollback
stop is integrated in the rear wheels
and can be activated or deactivated
depending on the situation.
Activating the backwards stop
Turn the locking bar by a half turn
upwards (A) and move the wheel
backwards until the locking bar au-
dibly clicks in.
Deactivating the backwards stop
Turn the locking bar a half turn down-
wards (B) until it is held in place by the
catch.

1919 4. Cleaning and servicing.
4.1 Cleaning and disinfecting
4.1.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements regularly with a spon-
ge or damp cloth; making sure that water droplets are
removed. Please clean with a mild household deter-
gent for severer dirt. Thorough drying of the cleaned
areas is important.
All fabrics that cannot be removed can be wiped with
a moist cloth. For all removable fabrics please pay at-
tention to the sewn-in care labels (such as A+ B) on the
respective element.
Please also pay attention to our general clea-
ning and hygiene advice. This can be found at
www.schuchmann.de/mediathek.
4.1.2 Disinfection
Various products can be used for surface disinfection of metal and plastic
parts.
Liquid disinfectants are available as ready-to-use solutions that are spray-
ed on and evenly applied with a soft cloth. Alternatively, wipes pre-soaked
with disinfectant can be used to wipe the products over the entire surface.
In both cases, care must be taken to ensure complete wetting. Disinfection
in fully automatic disinfection systems is also possible and recommended.
The exposure times may vary and can be found in the manufacturer's ins-
tructions for the products used.
4.2 Servicing
Please carry out a visual inspection on a daily basis and regularly check
the product for cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a
defect or malfunction, please contact the specialist dealer who supplied
you with the product (see Point 7.6).
4.3 Maintenance
For reasons of user safety and to retain product liability, the product must
be subjected to maintenance by a specialist dealer at least once a year
(see Point 7.6). The maintenance work carried out must be documented in
the maintenance plan (see Point 4.3.2).

4.3.1 Maintenance specications
• Basic cleaning according to manufacturer instructions (see Point 4.1.1)
• If necessary, disinfection according to manufacturer instructions (see
Point 4.1.2)
• Damages to the frame, mounting parts and accessories (cracks, breaks,
corrosion, bent or missing parts)
• Strength of the connections (tighten loose screws, replace missing
screws)
• Functionality of the adjustment elements (screws)
• Functionality of the safety elements (anti-tilt mechanism, deflector)
• Functionality of the brakes (friction brakes, handbrakes)
• Functionality of the rollers (concentricity, smooth running)
• Check the pads and covers for damage
• Legibility of the type label
• Final complete functional check of the aid
• Check that all mounting parts and associated accessories are correctly
fastened
