Executive Summary
We are proud to introduce a new member to the innovative MVS family of multi-format production
switchers. The MVS-6000 multi-format production switcher joins the renowned MVS-8000 series and
provides a powerful yet cost effective solution for customers who are upgrading existing or adding
new facilities.
The MVS-6000 is available in 1 to 2.5 M/E configurations, in a compact 4RU frame, with up to 49
inputs and a choice of different control surfaces. The unit maintains the same operational method as
the MVS and DVS series switchers so customers and operators who have experience with these units
can operate the new model with minimal training.
The majority of the powerful features that are available on the MVS-8000G series are also found on
the MVS-6000, including resizers, keyers, macros, clip transitions, extensive frame memory and
device control capabilities. In addition to these features the MVS-6000 has a two channel internal
DME option as well as the ability to use the same MVE-8000A and MVE-9000 DME units that are
used with the MVS-8000G. Like the MVS-8000G the MVS-6000 is also available in a standard
definition configuration with ability to upgrade to HD via a simple software update.
Customers have a choice of different control options with the MVS-6000. In addition to the
established and industry acclaimed CCP-8000 and CCP-9000 control panels used with the MVS-8000
and DVS-9000 series, there is now two new fixed configuration control panel choices, the CCP-6224
and the CCP-6324 panels. These new panels can also be utilized with the MVS-8000G series
switchers. As customers have come to expect from Sony, the MVS-6000 is also able to have multiple
panels connected to increase the flexibility of the system and tailor it to specific customer needs.
The MVS-6000 can also be combined with the Sony ELC news automation software to allow users to
reduce their manpower requirements and cost effectively produce news bulletins. Another perfect
companion for the MVS-6000 is the new high definition HSC-300 and HXC-100 cameras that combine
high performance with cost effective pricing that allows for economical solutions to be designed to

Product Concept
Since its launch the MVS series multi-format production switchers have become one of the global
leaders with over 2000 units being sold worldwide.
The MVS-8000 series was updated with the release in 1997 of the MVS-8000G and it added “resizer”
and “internal format converter” functions to the powerful feature set of the previous MVS-8000A
series. In addition to the MVS-8000G, we also have the standard definition DVS-9000 series
production switcher.
As customers make the move to high definition operations the ability for products to natively
support HD or be able to be easily upgraded to HD is now essential. Previously HD operations have
only been considered by high end customers who demanded the most power systems available.
Now with the rapid adoption of HD, customers from all market segments require production
switchers with HD capabilities and a powerful feature set.
To meet this market segment who demand powerful features but have limited budgets we are
proud to add the MVS-6000 multi-format production switcher to the MVS family.
The MVS-6000 series is designed to target customers who are looking for the renowned reliability
and industry standard operation of the MVS-8000G series but who are restricted in their available
budgets. By introducing the MVS-6000 with a powerful feature set and a competitive price, we will
be able to target new market segments.
With the powerful line-up of MVS-6000, MVS-8000GSF, MVS-8000G, and MFS-2000, Sony has a
switcher solution for almost every application.
Customers traditionally purchase switcher systems as part of a larger project for either new facilities
or the upgrade of existing systems. To provide complete solutions for these customers we have also
introduced two new cost effective camera systems that make the perfect partner to the MVS-6000.
The HSC-300 and HXC-100 cameras are high performance HD capable models that also target
customers who are looking for cost effective solutions for their facilities.

Main Features
1) Compact and Versatile HD-ready Switcher
The compact 4RU processor includes a newly developed ASIC (Image Processor). The new processor
is responsible for image processing, resizer and keyer functions and results in an 80% power
reduction when compared to the MVS-8000GSF.
The standard configuration of the unit is for SD operations. It can be easily configured for multi-
format operation by installing a simple software update. When using both HD and SD signals, an
optional internal format converter board is available allowing users to seamlessly mix different signal
types in a single production.
2) Fixed Configuration Control Panel (CCP-6224, CCP-6324)
Two new control panels are also available for the MVS-6000. The 2M/E, 24-crosspoint button (CCP-
6224) and 3M/E, 24-crosspoint button (CCP-6324) panels come with a fixed layout and can be
ordered as a single item. These same panels can also be used with the MVS-8000G/GSF and DVS-
9000/SF switchers.
By having a fixed configuration, it allows for standardization resulting in reduced manufacturing
costs. The new combined Multi Function Flexi-pad module reduces the number of modules by
combining the functionality of multiple modules into a single module. The fader for Key frame can
be assigned to a transition fader. The AUX bus can be controlled on the M/E row and the AUX bus
row module can be removed. It is also possible to use the system with a standard computer monitor
and mouse to instead of the menu panel, but if customers wish to use the traditional touch-screen
menu panel this is also possible.

CCP-6324 :
* CCP-6224 and CCP-6324 always require the SCU (MKS-8010B). If you are adding an internal module
to the CCP-6324 panel, this must be ordered as a separate item and then fitted by the sales company
or end user.
3) 1M/E to 2.5M/E Support
The unit is able to be set-up in 1M/E, 1.5M/E, 2M/E and 2.5M/E configurations. As customers may
wish to expand their system at a later stage, from 1 to 2 M/E for example, their future plans should
be taken into consideration when selecting panels.
4) The 2.5D Resizer and 3D DME
The standard supplied 2.5D resizer and internal 3D DME option enhance production capability,
which enables to configure the system without the MVE-8000A. In the initial version release, 2D is
supported. However, in the future version, 2.5D will be supported. The 3D DME is not provided as
standard but customers requiring these features have the choice of an internal DME or the external
MVE-8000A or MVE-9000 units.
5) Powerful frame memory and clip capability
The clip transition and clip playback/recording with time code control functions can produce the
latest style effects that have become extremely popular with the MVS-8000G.
6) Partner with Sony Automation and new HSC/HXC series cameras
By combining the MVS-6000 with the Sony ELC automation system (ELC-MVS01) cost effective news
production is able to be realized. The new HSC-300 and HXC-100 camera systems are the perfect
companions to the MVS-6000, allowing very cost effective solutions to be configured to customer’s
requirements.

to the keyers as standard. In the initial software version, 2D is supported. However, in the future
version, 2.5D is planned to be supported on the resizer.
6) 2ch of Internal 3D DME Option
With the MKS-6470 (optional), video effects such as 2CH of 3D transformation, defocus, mosaic,
drop shadow, lighting, recursive etc. are available, which is the same effects of the MVE-8000A but
excluding the non-linear effects, page turn and sparkle.
7) Combination with MVE-8000A/MVE-9000
If customers require specialized effects such as page turn and sparkle for post production etc., it can
be realized by connecting a MVE-8000A or MVE-9000 via SDI. The dedicated MVS-Interface found
on the MVS-8000 series is not available. When using the external DME it is not possible to perform a
DME wipe. The external DME channels are CH5, 6, 7 and 8.
8) Compact and Comfortable Operation
When using the new CCP-6000 series control panels a dedicated AUX bus module is not required.
This is supported as the AUX bus can be controlled on the M/E row, with a button allowing the row
to switch between operating M/E and AUX. This functionality is not supported on the CCP-8000
panels.
Customers can also use the existing CCP-8000 and CCP-9000 panels with the MVS-6000. These
choices allow flexible operation and the range of control surfaces can be selected to best suite the
customers’ needs. If customers are already familiar with the MVS-8000 or DVS-9000 series control
panels they can select the same panel type to allow operators to quickly move between systems and
to provide additional redundancy within their facilities.
The new CCP-6000 series panels allow the AUX bus module to be included in the M/E row
This AUX mode is only available for the new panel configuration (CCP-6224/6324)

9) System Control Unit – MKS-8010B
The system control unit to be configured with the CCP-6224/6324 should be the MKS-8010B which is
a successor model of MKS-8010A. The MKS-8010A will be discontinued and replaced by the MKS-
8010B; this unit will also be supported by MVS-8000 and DVS-9000 series switchers.
The menu display terminal (ANALOG VGA RGB 15pin D-SUB) is a new feature provided with the MKS-
8010B, this differs from the MKS-8010A as it allows a commonly available external VGA monitor to
be used to display the menu. Therefore, the existing menu panel, MKS-8011A is not always required
for the MKS-8010B.
On the other hand, the EXT3 terminal which is less frequently used is removed from the MKS-8010B;
however, it has two terminals of VGA outputs, the menu display terminal for the operation without
the MKS-8011A and also the EXT display terminal for GUI of the plug-in editor. The MKS-8010B also
allows for redundant power supply units via an optional PSU.
