For use with upward-opening flaps (vanity lid, toy box) that open
to a 105° angle.
Supplied with screws (3.5×14).
Torque moment formulas:
•One SDS
Door Height (cm) ×1/2 ×Door Weight (kg) = 35~50 kg·cm
•Two SDS
Door Height (cm) ×1/2 ×Door Weight (kg) = 70~100 kg·cm
Recommended door thickness: 20mm (25/32")

SDS-210 Installation
For Top Opening Door
Step 1 - Position and Install Mounting Plates
The hinge type and the coverage aect the placement of the mounting plate and arm
xing plate. Please use the corresponding diagram(Fig. 1 ~3) to determine the mounting
dimensions for your application. Position and install mounting plate and arm xing plate
using supplied screws.

Insert the “key” of the arm into the arm xing plate.
The main body must be placed at 90 degrees angle
against the xing angle.
Turn the main body 90 degrees and insert the center gear
of the mounting plate to the hole of the main body.

Fix the main body with the bind screw.

Step 3 - Adjustment and Operation
If the lid stay is sagging (A), turn the adjustment screw(Z) at the
base of the arm until the lid stay straightens (B). The lid can then
be closed by pushing down gently on the lid. When the lid is
closing, do not put additional pressure on the lid (to close more
quickly, etc.) as it may damage the stay. If you have diculty with
operation or adjustment of the lid stay, please contact Sugatsune
for technical assistance.

The SDS-210 must be used
taking the weight and door
height into consideration.
The table indicates the usable
weight range per door height
when using two stays. When
using one stay, the weight
range will be half of what is
shown.
For doors outside of the
recommended weight range,
please contact Sugatsune for
the recommended lid stay.
Remarks
• Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the lid stay as serious damage and/or injury may
occur.
• For extreme environments(high temperature, humidity, etc.), please contact Sugatsune for
technical assistance before installation.
• The product has been develop for use as a lid stay - other applications are not recommended.

INSTALLATION AND LOCATION OF MOUNTING PLATES
INSTRUCTION MANUAL: A LAPCON SERIES PRODUCT
SOFT DOWN STAY TYPE SDS-210 (105º OPEN)
Please follow these instructions carefully for proper use. PAT.P (Japan & many other contries)
Insert the “key” of the cam of arm-tip into the key hole of the fixing plate. The main body must be placed at 90 degrees angle against the fixing plate.
Turn the main body 90 degrees and
insert the knurly axis of the mounting plate to the hole of the main body.
Then fix the main body with bind screw
attached.

ADJUSTMENT
If the door is in the position as shown below(A), turn the opening angle adjust- ment screw (Z) so that the arm can stretch in a straight line as shown (B).

HOW TO INSTALL
Install the mounting plate and arm fixing
plate with the enclosed wood screws at
the designated places.
THE DIMENSION OF THE FLAP
THE DIMENSION OF THE FLAP SOFT DOWN STAY must be used taking the size of the flap into consideration.
The graph indicated the usable range when using one SDS stay.
When using two stays, the width of flap can be twice as large if the height remains
unchanged. (
Note) The graph shown to the left is in case of a usual wooden
flap of 20mm thick (specific gravity approx 0.5)
• In case of lighter or heavier flap doors that do not fit within
the above specified range please contact our sales staff.
